Op Girl With Touhou System - Chapter 34
*Ding~!*
Not long after, he was suddenly awakened by a noisy bell noise. He quickly sobered himself up, before he glanced in the direction of where the sound came from. The store’s doors were already opened wide in his view.
But there’s nobody…
“KYAAAAA~N!!!”

As she was done buying some food, Mai continued on her journey across Japan, toward the U.S.J. building, to be specific. Not only snacks, but she also bought some fruits, bananas in particular.
Thereupon, after floating in the air like an immortal Chinese cultivator for some duration, she finally caught sight of a giant dome-shaped facility from afar. On its front part, right above the entrance gate, a large and looming ‘U.S.J.’ letter can be discerned.
The Unforseen Simulation Joint, constantly abbreviated as U.S.J., is a training facility which purpose is to train hero students for disaster rescue. As such, it was quite an important construction that was constantly patrolled.
But for Mai, she effortlessly went inside, even when guards and security cameras were covering the outside perimeters of the building. And now that she’s in, she gazes around at the massive ‘playground’ area.
Inside, there is some sort of a central area that connects to the simulation areas as well as the main entrance. The simulation areas are consist of the Ruin Zone, Landslide Zone, Mountain Zone, Conflagration Zone, Flood Zone, and Downpour Zone.
Mai thus decided to walk around to preserve most of the spots in these areas in her memory. Perhaps, if she were to be in a pinch when fighting, she might need to utilize the environment to her advantage.
Big shout out to the word ‘Perhaps’, as it meant that the event has a probability to never ever come to pass.
*Walk* *Eat bananas* *Walk*
‘Oh, thanks for notifying me, Ai-chan!’ Mai showed her gratitude. She then stops in her track. Well, most of the places have already been covered by her.
Knowing that she was now inside the Mountain Zone territory, she sat down while leaning on a nearby giant rock, before she pulled out a bento that she had bought from the convenience store.
Even after she’s done eating, remembering that it was still early in the morning, Mai thus decided to try out her new knife and some of her abilities.
First, Sakuya’s throwing knife. Even though it was smaller than the kitchen knife she owned, the throwing knife was way sharper and more durable than the kitchen knife. It was also way more superior if its skill was counted in.
To experiment, Mai stood up and looked around for a practice target. She then caught sight of a small rock on top of a big rock in the distance for about 100 meters.
‘Yup, that should do it!’
Pulling out a Sakuya’s knife from the inventory, she decided to first throw it without using its homing ability.
*Shwish!*
Aaaaaand, it landed right below the target. It’s pretty good actually, for someone who bȧrėly employs it except when they were kids. All of the knife parts except the handle were stuck inside of the big rock. It was as if the rock had no resistance at all. That alone shows how sharp the knife was.
*S-hwish!*
After she throws it, the knife stops for less than a second in mid-air, before it shifts and then continues straight into the targetted small rock.
*Bueck!*
The small rock blasted into pieces as the knife completely passed through it and probably landed behind the big rock.
“Wowwie…” Said Mai, who was in awe, with a monotonous tone.
The next thing she’s curious about is what if the target moved. Mai then looked around and concluded ‘Well, there’s nothing that I could use for th- wait…’ She suddenly got an idea.
What if she targeted herself…
{REDACTED!}
‘Auuu~, that was such an agonizing experience!’ Mai ġrȯȧnėd in her mind as she pulled out the knife that got stuck into her left shoulder.
Previously, after she throws her knife aiming for herself, she then runs around like a madman. But the knife still chased after her no matter what. Even when she hides behind a big rock, the knife would just maneuver itself so it could circle around the rock to get into her.
Not only that, but the longer it hovers in the air, the faster it gets, to a point that Mai decided to just take her retribution so she can quickly end the current experiment. Well, she could attempt to catch its handle with her hands before it hits her, but then she decided to try getting hurt by the knife.
And she regretted every single bit of it.
Lucky that there was no accident. If there is, who knows what could’ve happened? The knife might even land on her buŧŧ.
Back to the present, just as she was about to go and pick up her previous two knives, the system’s voice rings out in her head.
[Host, the items that you’ve brought from the system have some sort of connection with you. So you can retrieve them into your inventory from a distance, without the need to make any physical contact!]
‘Oh! That’s so convenient!’ Mai was elated. She then tries to do what the system has told her and then felt something went inside her inventory. She then checks the knife’s count.
[Sakuya’s Throwing Knife (x130)]
‘Umu~! Umu~!’ Mai nodded sagely. ‘Now, as for the next thing that I want to attempt…’
After committing it for a few minutes, Mai finally senses it. Next, she tries to move the ‘thing’ closer towards the earth, but it was extremely slow. Even after she performed it for some duration, the progress was still too inadequate. So she gave up and unfolded her eyes once more.
‘Maybe if…’ Mai then opened up her status and glance at a particular part.
-(Advance Elemental Magic)(199/200)
‘Just one more… Oh right, the daily mission!’ Recalling that she hasn’t done it yet, she swipes out the status bar and immediately opened her mission tab.
[Daily mission: Defeat a cannon-fodder in a fight! (0/1)]
“…”
‘What a… What a wonderful weather we have today! Oh yeah, what time is it now?’ Mai tried to distract herself from the mission’s content. It’s just so sad. She then pulled up her arm to stare at her wrist, only to realized that she didn’t wear a wristwatch. No, she didn’t even own a wristwatch, to be exact.
[Host! So you remember we lost the time!]
‘…See you remain the part of my inside~. Stop! Anyway, what time is it currently, Ai-chan?’ Even though she could’ve just looked it up on her phone, Mai still asked.
However, before the system could answer her question, a loud creak sound could be heard, appearing from the direction of where the entrance gate is.
‘They’re coming already?’
