Opposite Worlds - Chapter 12 Like A Family
They came back to Meera’s room. She was working on George’s laptop that he left before going out and also talking on the phone using Bluetooth. Noah was worried that she isn’t resting well. He asked her to stop using electronic gadgets. But she couldn’t hear him as she was on a call. Lewis patted his shoulder, comforting him. They sat on the sofa and just looked at her. Noah was a bit shocked at seeing her work even though she was severely injured.
“Don’t be shocked dude. She is like this.” George said to clear his confusion.
“Yup she doesn’t care about herself. For her, what matters the most is her mission.” Isaac said as he reminisced her behavior. They kept talking. Her work was done soon. She kept the laptop aside and looked up. All of them were sleeping except Noah. She smiled and said, “They all got tired. I’m sorry to make you guys worried.”
“Ahh it’s nothing and I’m also sorry for being arrogant .” He apologized. She smiled.
“Its also not my fault. This was what I was taught since childhood. My dad always forced me to be the best and to be a good king. I couldn’t even enjoy anything. But after meeting you it changed, I realized how exciting life could be. I admire you I..I mean your so strong and brave. I wish I had a life like you.” He said standing in front of her.
“Don’t wish this thing.” She said immediately.
“Why?” He was confused due to her reaction.
“My life is worse. I lost my parents early and had to manage everything on my own. I always have to risk my life. All the people I trusted betrayed me… I also haven’t enjoyed my life at all. My parents took me to the agency when I was 12 and I have been risking my life since then. No matter how much pain I feel I have to hide it. I wish no one has a life like me.” She said and had tears in her eyes.
“I didn’t expect you to be like this.” He said with his mouth open.
“You know what I feel very relieved after venting out all my feelings.” She said sliding down.
“Me too.” He said with a smile. He sat near her feet and they talked for a long time, even though they belonged to the opposite world but they both suffered the same pain.
