Origin System - Chapter 25 New Powers
A drastically different world appeared in front of Jiang Chen after the blinding light disappeared. dust particles inside of the room were clear captured in Jiang Chen’s eyesight and he seemed to be able to track its movements through the air. Although this was similar to the Eye of God’s power, the power seemed a bit different. Jiang Chen deactivated the Eye of God’s power and saw the effect of the slate. He waved his hand in front of him extremely fast however his eyesight was only able to capture everything he saw in slow motion as if everything just decided to take a break from going too fast.
“Karma responded! I’m finally being rewarded for my past life! Hahahaha…!”
“Gu Ming, why is Brother Chen laughing like a maniac?”
“I don’t know. Let’s not bother him.”
Gu Ming and Li Sung were busy exchanging pointers with each other in the yard when they heard Jiang Chen’s laughter. They ultimately decided to not bother him and continued sparring using the wooden swords. Inside of the room, Jiang Chen was dumbfounded at the effects of the slate.
“If Vidi is already this powerful, what about the other two words?”
Jiang Chen inserted his energy into the word Vici and immediately afterward new innate strength flowed from the slate and into his body. His body filled with new strength began to pulse and generate heat in an abnormal way.
“Let’s test this now.”
Jiang Chen positioned himself in front of the wall and launched his punch. The moment that the fist landed on the wall, the entire section was ripped from its foundation and flew into the air. Gu Ming who was near the impact was startled and almost got crushed by mass that was flying through the air. The people whose houses are nearby looked out their windows.
“Brother Chen! Are you trying to kill me!?”
“Oh, sorry, are you okay?”
Gu Ming got off the ground and pointed at Jiang Chen.
“Okay!? I almost had 20 pounds of brick rain down on my beautiful face! Besides, you know that repairing that wall is going to cost around 1 gold coin, right?”
Jiang Chen quickly avoided the question and darted back into the room. A few moments later, a blur flew out of the wall and Jiang Chen’s scream of pleasure can be heard in the air.
“I think we should give Brother Chen some alone time… Do you wanna practice in the training hall today?”
“Sure…”
Gu Ming and Li Sung slowly walked away while Jiang Chen continued to run around like a madman. Jiang Chen got back to the house and his mind came back into reality once again.
“Damn, Veni is able to make my run drastically faster that I lost my mind for a second. Hopefully, no one saw what kind of face I was making.”
The Next Morning
Jiang Chen has finished packing everything he would need for the next few days: Clothing, money, and food. Since Jiang Chen had the system inventory, he decided to use this to store his belongings instead of manually carrying it on his back.
Halfway through the walk back to Tang City, Jiang Chen encountered a group of bandits robbing a carriage. Horses that surrounded the carriage while the carriage’s horses were killed using arrows made escape nearly impossible.
“How wonderful I must say.”
Jiang Chen continued to walk down the road until he was able to hear the discussion that was happening.
“Alright! All money goes in the first bag and valuables go in the second! If I catch you hiding something, I’ll kill you!”
“Kind sir, if you would let us go, I would ask the family patriarch to reward you considerably.”
“Hah…Do you think I’m dumb and can’t even think for myself? As a servant of the Sun Family, you would probably report this incident to the patriarch and send troops to kill me. If I let you go, I might as well dig my own grave right here and now, isn’t that right, boys?”
“That’s right!”
“Yup!”
“Hahaha!”
Making sure that the bandits couldn’t see him, Jiang Chen sneaked up behind the carriage and waited for the right moment. Bodies of the guards of the carriage were laid on the ground with blood splattered all over the carriage. Although he couldn’t see the cultivation levels anymore since they were dead, Jiang Chen was able to sense the body tempering that these soldiers went through.
“Anyway, I heard that you were taking the little beauty of your family to Tang City. Let us have some fun with her and you can leave here in one piece.”
Judging by the words of the bandits, Jiang Chen assumed that they knew who the carriage belonged to. Jiang Chen can’t afford to act to reckless since he noticed that the leader of the bandits was a Body-Tempering Stage 7. One careless move made by Jiang Chen and his body might be chopped up into pieces by the many members of the bandit group. Many would think that a prince saving the damsel in distress was a good way to gain a lower, Jiang Chen didn’t want to die in that process.
“System, what’s the best way to resolve this situation?”
Ding!
[Best Scenario – Run (97% Survivalability)]
“&[email protected]#$. What’s the 2nd best scenario?”
Ding!
for visiting.
[2nd Best Scenario – Purchase A Escape Scroll (63% Survivalibility)]
“Why is this percentage so low?”
[Requirements For Group Escape – Contact With Host]
Jiang Chen’s mind was balancing the 2 options in his mind and seemed lost on what to do. Jiang Chen finally thought of an answer and pulled out the slate.
Ding!
[20 Credit Deducted]
Jiang Chen purchased an escape scroll and waited for the right moment when the bandits were not paying attention.
“Sir, I’ll give you the gold coins that are in this carriage if you will let us go.”
The servant sounded extremely panicked as he began to back away from the bandits.
“Or…I can kill you to get the gold coins and the beauty in the carriage. I’m getting tired of this discussion so make up your mind about dying already!”
The moment when the leader of the bandits was about to draw his sword, Jiang Chen activated Veni and grabbed the servant by the shoulder into the carriage. Inside was a girl that seemed to be startled at the sudden opening of the carriage door. Jiang Chen grabbed her as well by the hand and activated the escape scroll just before the entire carriage was cut right in half by the bandit leader’s sword.
“They got away, Boss!”
“Well? Find them! If words get to their patriarch, we’re not gonna live to see tomorrow’s sunset!”
The agitated voice of the bandit leader rang through the air and the members scattered.
