Origin System - Chapter 28 Atom Bomb
Jiang Chen panicked when he heard his name being called up. He had expected that he would be placed with an abnormally strong person later in the tournament, but never this soon.
A Body-Tempering Stage 9 cultivator is already enough to beat Jiang Chem up black and blue with little to no resistance from him. A Qi-Condensing Stage 6 powerhouse would probably only need to snort once before he is knocked out. The difference between Jiang Chen and his opponent’s cultivation was like earth and heaven that was impossible to surmount by normal means.
The odds are truly stacked against Jiang Chen.
“There’s always the option of forfeiting the match…”
However, Jiang Chen quickly got rid of that thought and made a decision in his mind.
He was going to win this match… Somehow…
The moment Jiang Chen was 10 meters away from Kai Song, he was able to sense the vast amount of aura radiating from his body. Jiang Chen quickly tried to think of a plan that might be able to help him with this situation.
“System, help me, think of something!”
[Recommendation For Eliminating Qi-Gathering Cultivator: Nuclear Warhead Type 1(Cost:100 Credit)]
“That’s Just Adding To The Problem!”
Even if Jiang Chen did manage to finish off Kai Song with a nuclear warhead, the surrounding area would become a radioactive wasteland. He might be taken out as well in the initial explosion. Jiang Chen also didn’t want to use something that comes from modern technologies since he’s now in the world of cultivation, but he had no choice now.
“Screw it all! System, buy 1 Nuclear Warhead!”
for visiting.
Ding!
Jiang Chen heard the ding of the system and felt a sharp pain in his chest. The credit he had managed to accumulate through hard work went away in an instant.
[Nuclear Warhead Has Been Purchased. Credit Remaining: 12. Do You Wish To Withdraw It?]
“Yes!”
Just as Jiang Chen gave his confirmation to the system, the judge announced the start of the match. A 26-feet long and seven feet diameter cylindrical tube appeared in the sky above Jiang Chen’s grasping hand. Its body gleamed in the setting sun as it was rotating around 1 kilometer in the air.
“What’s that thing?”
“A soul weapon?”
“It can’t be. That thing is too large to fit into one’s soul. You will have to be at least a Heavenly Soldier cultivator!”
Soul weapons were formed based on each cultivator’s personality once they reach Nascent Soul. Soul weapons come in all types: Stealthy personalities might acquire daggers, while kind personalities can receive a healing obelisk. As your abilities increases, the weapon that you manifest can scale its size and power to your power by running your Qi through it.
Kai Song was startled for a moment and didn’t know how to process this information. If this was really Jiang Chen’s soul weapon, then that meant that he would have to possess a power at least of a Nascent Soul or even greater. Jiang Chen made eye contact with Kai Song and had a moment of silence. The audience didn’t know what to expect as they held their breaths as well, waiting for the action to start soon.
“Hopefully, this is goodbye.”
Jiang Chen broke the silence and waved his hand downward. Although he wasn’t certain, he knew that the powerhouses overseeing this match would jump in to save the contestants if anything goes wrong. If not,
The towering atomic bomb fell its way down onto the platform, making high pitched whistling noise in the process. Just as it was within range of the detonation, the atomic bomb clicked, releasing a single neutron at a high speed within the bomb. This triggered a chain reaction making more and more neutrons go off from the radioactive isotopes.
“Old Man Jin, we have to stop this thing now!”
A middle-aged woman yelled out at the top of her lungs and sprinted as fast as she could towards where the bomb would land along with another old man. People soon followed them and began assisting her in putting up what seemed to be a containment seal. The bomb entered the barrier made by the seal easily and touched the ground.
Booooooooooommmmm! (Totally not trying to exaggerate)
The atomic bomb went off and emitted a thundering explosion within the seal. Everyone who was helping to maintain the seal spat out a blotch of blood and their complexion paled.
This was the combined defensive ability of over 10 Nascent Souls! How did they take internal damage from this!?
The surrounding audience was shocked as they took a collective gasp from the previous suspense. What would happen if this were to land on a single Nascent Soul cultivator with no protection? Wouldn’t he just be blown away into dust?
This was hard for the crowd to accept in a short amount of time. Nascent Souls were the foundations of any city or kingdom since they made up the court officials in charge of the government. After a while, the explosion finally subsided and the middle-aged woman retracted her hands from the barrier. She wiped the blood that was forming at the corner of her mouth and walk towards the center of the stage.
“I declare Jiang Chen as the winner of this round!”
There was no bloodshed was done and yet a person manages to win. This caused the crowd to be even more shocked, however, they went along with the atmosphere and clapped. The lady went up to Jiang Chen and pointed at him.
“You, follow me.”
Jiang Chen didn’t really have a choice in the matter since she was the one that “saved” his life. the old man was also mentioned to join them as they quietly walked into an office.
“Jiang Chen, was it?”
The lady sat down and began to pour herself a cup of tea.
“Yes!”
“I would like to know, where did you acquire that weapon?”
“I found it… in an abandoned cave…”
The lady and the old man looked startled at the answer that Jiang Chen gave.
“Did the room looked like it had someone living in it for a long time?!”
Of course, Jiang Chen knew that they were talking about abandoned immortal caves that pop up in many novels in his previous life and knew that he had to seem like he didn’t know what it was.
“I think so… there was a lot of books stacked on the shelves and all of them seemed really old.”
“It really is! If this immortal can make a weapon that can allow a Body-Tempering cultivator injure a Nascent Soul, then that means that the immortal is at least a Heavenly Soldier cultivator. Jiang Chen! Do you remember where you found the cave!?”
“I don’t…”
The lady and the old man immediately looked dejected as if the life was sucked out of them.
“Did you take anything else from the cave, at least?”
“I didn’t keep anything else aside from the weapon.”
“Sigh…alright you can go now.”
Jiang Chen left the room and ran back to the waiting room.
“That was scary! If I didn’t think of the immortal cave then, I would have been screwed.”
Back inside of the room, the old man sat down across from the lady and poured himself a cup of tea as well.
“Do you think he’s telling the truth?”
“I don’t think so. I believe he’s still hiding some immortal artifacts on him.”
The lady’s name was Nian Zhen and the old man was called Old Man Jin. From a young age, Nian Zhen was taken care of by Old Man Jin, so she trusted him to her full extent. There a secret that was known no one aside from them. Nian Zhen had the innate power of precognition or the ability to see the future.
“I saw a blue shield emerging from his body and he didn’t take any damage from the blast. It’s hard to believe that he is capable of conjuring a barrier at his current level right now.”
What Nian Zhen saw in her vision was not the power of an immortal cultivator, but was the system’s protection protocol.
