Our Perfectly Imperfect Relationship - Chapter 16 Forgotten Memories
The atmosphere at Seoul Private Hospital was chaotic when they were alerted that the Kim’s was making their way there. It was normal to see one or two of them coming down for a health check or visiting someone but for the whole family to be coming, that was a first.
The Kim’s was one of the biggest investors of the hospital, so they were considered as a VVIP. Everyone who works there was forced to remember their faces, so as to prevent mistreating them if they were to ever come to visit or were to be admitted.
But in all those years they have been working at the hospital, never once have they seen the whole family together. The Kim’s either came separately or a few of them would be missing due to work reason. So for them to be coming as a whole family, it would mean something serious had happened.
They were informed that the patient wasn’t one of the Kim’s but a completely unknown person. It made everyone curious of who the patient was and what’s her relationship with the Kim’s. But whoever she was, they knew she was someone important to the Kim’s and they can’t let anything slip up while attending to her.
When the ambulance arrived, the medic pushes out Haeun in a hurry and transfer her to a hospital bed that was already prepared beforehand. The doctor and nurses that was already on standby then quickly push her to the emergency room, with Minjoon following behind them with a serious expression.
A minute after she was pushed in, a black Maserati and a blue Audi stop in front of the hospital, and out came the rest of the Kim’s. All of them had a worried look on their face as they were immediately shown to the VVIP waiting area, joining Minjoon who was sitting quietly in a corner.
From the back, he looks calm and quiet but when they came closer to him, he was in a terrible state. He was constantly fiddling with his hands and his forehead was forming lots of sweat. They can see how worried and anxious he was, even though his face still had a serious expression on.
“Minjoon, don’t worry too much. I’m sure it’s nothing serious, so calm down. You don’t want her to see you like this right? So I suggest you go wash up first, we’ll be here and wait for any news. I assume you haven’t got a chance to take a shower yet seeing that you’re still wearing clothes from earlier.”
Minjee patted his back in a comforting manner, making him release a heavy sigh. He understands that they wanted him to calm his troubled thoughts but he wasn’t sure it was possible. Something happens to Haeun right in front of his eyes, so how can he not be worried. He felt like it was his fault for not noticing her pain earlier.
for visiting.
But then again, she was fine before that and even manage to make such a cute face. So what was wrong with her? Did the doctor not check properly the last time and just assume she was fine when something was wrong with her? If that was so, he couldn’t let them get away just like that. He needs to meet them and award them for their superb knowledge.
“You over there. I want you to check all the doctors that treated my wife the last time she was admitted here. After that, call all of them over. I don’t care whether they’re in a meeting or checking some patient. I want them here, in front of me, in the next thirty minutes. Got it? Tell them, if they can’t make it on time, they can say goodbye to their job.”
The nurse that just happen to pass by was baffled at his sudden instruction. She was caught in a daze for a moment before she started panicking and rush to complete the task that Minjoon had instructed. Even though she was actually on her way to check on a patient, she pushed that aside since she knows how important Minjoon was.
As the nurse rush off, his family was looking at each other in confusion. They have no idea what he was trying to do but it didn’t seem like it was going to turn out good. Knowing who he was, they were sure he was jumping to some conclusion without thoroughly checking the whole story. But since the nurse had already rush off, they could only wait and see, as to what Minjoon had in mind.
After just fifteen minutes, four doctors came running in the VVIP waiting area. They were actually very busy with work but when they heard the news that Minjoon was angrily waiting for them, they think twice to left their work behind and rushes straight to him. They somewhat had an idea why he wanted to meet them but they didn’t know why he was angry at them.
All the four doctors stood straight in front of Minjoon as they gave a bow, as a sign of respect to him. They were all tight lipped and no one dares to say or ask him something. They just stood there nervously as sweat trickling down from their back, waiting for Minjoon to speak up.
“I want all of you guys to explain now. How is it possible that you guys allowed my wife to go home and now she’s here again? You said she was fine, it was only her cut that needed stitching. So how come she was gripping her head in pain as she passed out? Did you guys even do your job properly? Is this how you guys work?”
“I saw it happen right in front of my eyes, so there are no excuses that you guys can give me. She wasn’t doing any exercise or any form of work. We were just simply talking and suddenly she was screaming in pain. So, what should I do now? Fire you guys? Banned you guys from any doctoring job? Cancel your doctoring cert? Which one is it?
“But in the end, it doesn’t change anything, does it? You guys can still find other jobs while my wife might be paralyzed or dead because of your carelessness. So how are you guys going to take responsibility for it? I’ll say this now, if anything bad had happened to her, don’t even think of walking out of here alive.”
Minjoon was giving out a deadly cold aura as he stares at them with a cold menacing glare. He wasn’t taking any excuses from them, all he wanted was answers, and they can’t give him any. None of them would even meet his eyes and there weren’t any apologies either. It all made his blood boil as he still hasn’t figured out as to what causes Haeun to be in such a pain.
Just when the four doctors thought it was over for them, the door of the emergency room swung open as the head doctor came out. He was looking calm and unfazed from all the tension that was surrounding the waiting area. He then walks towards Minjoon, not fearing his cold menacing gaze. Minjoon’s family saw the doctor approaching over as they gather around Minjoon and waited as the doctor took off his mask.
“Good news, Mr. Kim. Your wife is fine and nothing is wrong with her. We had done a thorough check and there seem to be no complications. We were quite skeptical from the result, seeing that you said she fainted from pain in her head. But after searching back her medical history, we found out that she had an accident before which cost her to lose her memories.”
“As of now, we can only conclude that she had that pain because her brain had managed to bring back a few of her lost memories. And that is a good sign for her, Mr. Kim. Even though she might faint from time to time because of the pain, it will be only temporary and will stop after her memories are fully restored. When she gets a discharge later, we will provide her with some painkillers to help with the pain. So, there’s no need for you to worry.”
Hearing the news from the doctor, Minjoon and his family sigh in relief. They were happy it wasn’t anything serious and that Haeun is slowly going to get her memories back. This was definitely a piece of good news to them, especially for Minjoon. After she fully regains her memories, there won’t be any problem with her leaving him and it might be possible for them to get married then.
Minjoon then turns to face the four doctors who were still standing there, awaiting their fate. He looks at them one by one as he clicks his tongue in disapproval. He still wasn’t happy with them, since if they had really done their job, they would have known something like this was going to happen to Haeun. Not only that, they still had the nerve to not apologize for their mistakes.
“Consider yourself lucky this time. If something like this happens again the next time, which if there is a next time, I promise that you guys won’t be able to walk away like this freely. And I meant every word that I said. So remember that carefully, cause I would if I were you. Now, get lost. I’m getting angry just looking at all of your faces.”
With those words from Minjoon, they quickly bow to him and rushes out of there. They didn’t want to anger him more than they already have and seeing that they manage to escape his rage, they were truly lucky this time. They know how he was when he rages and it was said that no one walks away unharmed. They were so thankful that they swore to never attend to any of the Kim’s again. It was a nightmare for them and it was enough experiencing it just once.
