Our Perfectly Imperfect Relationship - Chapter 17 A Fight?
In one of the VVIP private room at Seoul Private Hospital, Minjoon was resting on the sofa. It has been two days but Haeun has yet to regain consciousness. The doctor said it might be because the pain was too strong and made her lose a lot of energy. So for the past two days, Minjoon didn’t leave her side.
He understands that her condition was normal but he can’t help but be worried about her. He didn’t want Haeun to wake up and see that she was all alone in the hospital room. She might get panic since the last time she was awake, she was at home. Even if that won’t be the case, Minjoon didn’t want her out of his sight.
Since he was off from work for two weeks, he was able to get some rest and stay by Haeun side without worry. Though his family members offered to take his place and keep watch of her, he insisted that he was fine and needed no help. Knowing what a stubborn guy he was, his family left him be and helped him pack some fresh new clothes for him to change into.
As he was resting, he heard a soft grunt and that made him immediately woke up. He quickly rushes to Haeun’s bedside and checks to see what was wrong. To his surprise, Haeun had finally regained consciousness as she touches her head from a headache she’s getting because of the bright light. Minjoon quickly notices this and adjusted the lighting in the room to be dimmer.
“Hey, how are you? Feeling better now? Are you hurting anyway? Do you want some water to drink?” Minjoon bombards her with questions after questions, leaving no room for Haeun to breath. She was confused for a second because of that but after realizing that she was at the hospital, she understood why he was so worried about her.
for visiting.
“I’m fine? And yes, I do need some water. My throat seems to be a little bit dry. By the way, why am I here again? I remembered we were supposed to be in our room. Did something actually happen? I can’t seem to remember anything about last night.” Haeun was slowly pulling herself up to sit but Minjoon quickly helps her up before passing her a glass of water.
From the looks of it, Haeun can see that he didn’t go back at all while she was there in the hospital. And it made her feel guilty about it since from the first time she meet him till now, this has been her second time in the hospital and Minjoon was always there by her side when she woke up. She felt like she wasn’t worthy of receiving such attention from him.
She was only a fake wife, someone who will leave him eventually, but if he keeps being so sweet to her and giving her that much attention and care, it would be hard for her to leave him. And that is not good since Haeun doesn’t want to continue bothering Minjoon with her problems. He deserves someone better and she needs to find a solution to stop her heart from falling for him more then it already is.
“You actually fainted while talking about your husband. You were actually screaming in pain suddenly and I manage to catch you in time before you pass out. The doctor said that you were experiencing such pain because your memories are coming back, which is a good sign. But it will continue until your memories are fully return.”
“But you don’t have to worry. They will provide some painkillers for it so it won’t hurt that much and I’ll be here beside you, for when if you faint again and need someone to catch you. Anyways, I found out that you have lost your memories from an accident and that might be the reason why you don’t remember meeting me. But in any case, you’ll soon have your memories back and it will all be fine.”
Minjoon smiles lovingly towards Haeun as he looks at her in the eyes. She can feel that his feeling was really sincere but without knowing what exactly had happened between them before, she mustn’t accept his feelings. If it were to happen that the girl who saved him wasn’t her and he found out, not only her heart but her world might be shattered into pieces again.
She might be a strong person but her feelings weren’t as strong as she is. It is fragile and barely hanging there after what had happened. But because of Minjoon, she manages to move forward and stay strong for her baby. Without him, she would still be in some alleyway somewhere asking for food and a place to take shelter. Haeun really was grateful for what he had done for her and because of that reason, she can’t keep Minjoon all to herself.
He wasn’t hers, to begin with, and doing so is just her being selfish without caring for his future. He deserves better and the longer she stays, the more she’s hindering him from finding his perfect other half. But in order to leave Minjoon, Haeun must first get back all her memories that she seems to forget and find a job that can feed both her and Hyomin.
“Oh. I actually have something I wanted to ask you about. If you don’t mind me asking, what exactly did you saw before you fainted? Well, the doctor said that a part of your memories came back and I was curious about what you actually remembered. Was it about your husband? Since we were talking about him when it suddenly triggered the pain in your head.”
Minjoon asks her cautiously since it was a sensitive subject for Haeun. He didn’t want her to feel awkward for asking such a question. He knows how much pain her ex-husband had given her and that she doesn’t really want to talk a lot about him. But he still has to find out more about him in order to pay him back. So even if it will hurt Haeun somehow, he must still bring up the subject about him once in a while.
“Honestly, I can’t remember much.. But before I black out, I saw my husband running towards me looking very mad. He was holding a glass bottle and was gritting his teeth in anger. I guess he was mad? Or maybe he was running towards someone who was behind me? I really don’t know and I can’t even seem to remember when this happens. I don’t think we fought in some alleyway before..”
Haeun felt the pain coming again as she tries to make it go away. It did but only for a minute or two before it came back stronger. Minjoon saw the change in her expression and quickly pass some painkillers for her to eat. After swallowing two of them, she felt much better and slump herself back on the bed. She didn’t expect the pain to come just from her trying to remember a bit of what happened.
If this was going to keep happening, her plan of leaving Minjoon side would take longer then two months. By the time she fully remembers everything, she doubts she will be strong enough to leave him. It is already hard for her to stay resolute on her goal from just staying with him for a few days. She will definitely have a change of heart is she stayed any longer than two months. So if she really wants her plan to work, she has to bear with all this pain and force herself to remember, even if it feels like her brain is ripping apart.
