Outcast Hunter - Chapter 125
The ball of fire was pushed back a little after the shock wave caused by Polony. Leo managed to stop the Flame of Redemption from getting push furthermore. He stood still and began pushing the ball of fire forward towards Polony. The latter once grabbed onto it.
“I’m getting sucked in?!”
The hard surface of the flame turned soft, slowly sucking Polony in. The magical armor worn by Polony peeling off little by little as the ball of fire burns it.
“What am I getting scared of?” The unexpected of Polony happened. He let himself get sucked in the ball of fire. “Arghhh! This much heat isn’t capable of bringing me down!”
Completely engulfed by the Flame Redemption, Polony endured all the pain and heat.
“I can’t imagine myself in his place..” Just the thought of oneself burning to death is already painful.
Not so long after Polony got sucked in, the ball of fire exploded. A heavy gust of hot wind was accompanied by a flash of light that blinded everyone that was staring at the ball of fire.
Leo and the other two covered their eyes. The flash of light didn’t last long. After a few seconds, they stopped covering their eyes to quickly search for Polony.
On the ground, Polony was down on one knee, was the Destroyer claiming that he’ll slaughter everyone on the island. His whole body was covered in traces of burn.
“It has been a while since I suffered severe damage!” Polony didn’t move. He stayed as-is. “Commendable, really!” Even if it was quite painful, Polony gave Leo a round of applause. “I was saving my strength for the last but, my encounter against Death’s successor pushed me to a corner.”
Polony widely raised both arms as he went down on both knees.
‘What’s that bastard doing now?! Anyway, before that, why is my foot not getting healed? Did something happen to the UHA’s healers?’
“Thy, who gave me life and power yet deprived me of everything thy granted me! I’m asking thy to unshackle me of my restraints!”
Polony was praying. He’s asking his Creator to free him of his shackles and let him wreak havoc.
Suddenly, a clap of thunder struck him from the sky. He was hit miserably. He fell to the ground and lost consciousness.
The dark sky was mixed with blood-colored clouds. Crimson red thunders strike continuously.
Before Leo, Liu Cheng, and Miyamura notice, Polony was up once again as if nothing had happened to him. A cuts-like line appeared everywhere from Polony’s whole body. The three wondered what it was and had a train of thoughts. It opened and rapidly blinked. Dark liquid matter flows out of every eye that stench like sulfur.
“It is good to be finally free. For thousands of years, I’ve been a prisoner of my own body.”
Polony feels light and new. The overflowing power that is surging from his core and flowing to every part of his body feels great.
Leo’s and the other two’s instincts say that they should be extremely cautious. Their senses say they should prepare themselves for a fight that could take their lives.
“What an ugly transformation you have there!”
<Manifestation>
[Unique skills can’t be copied…]
‘Hmm? What? It’s the first time the system couldn’t copy an ability.’
Years ago, when monsters first arrived on Earth, a particular Protector used his own Grace to give power that could surpass the invaders. The grace was turned into small fragments that were randomly distributed to humans. Those humans were the top hunters that used the power of Grace to rise at the top of the food chain.
Liu Cheng’s one of the lucky humans who came across the small fragment of Grace. Manifestation is a skill that allows him to manifests the power of a lion beast. A translucent image of a lion covered his whole body, supporting him from standing.
<Beast Transformation>
Miyamura too was one of the lucky humans. His unique skill lets him half-transform into a tiger. They have shown this power publicly in the past. So, using it now wasn’t a surprise for Leo or the others watching the fight.
“Heh, it seems like I wasn’t the only one who’s a monster.”
Liu Cheng greatly disregarded what Polony said. “Don’t lump us with you!”
Freed from his restraints, Polony unleashes his true potential to get back at his enemies.
“He looks grosser than before.”
Uglier than earlier, Polony’s body has eyes on it everywhere. Each eye bleed, not blood but, dark thing that stench. The liquid thing that was leaking out reeks of sulfur.
“I, myself, am disgusted to my real form. I don’t often transform into this but, since I’m being overpowered, I’m left with no choice.”
Along with Polony’s true appearance, his earlier behavior drastically changed too. He looks calm and collected for a reason. He was silently observing his own self, feeling nostalgic as memories of the past rewind.
Leo and the others get the feeling that somehow, Polony has changed. They don’t know what power he possessed now and, figuring it out might take time by making him show it.
“I can see, sense and predict your intentions. Now that the all-seeing eyes have opened, it is now time for you lots to have me lower your curtains.”
The all seeing eyes is a terrifying power bestowed by a being they called
‘Creator.’ Yes, it was Leo and Grim’s father, the so-called Creator who put things together, creating the Destroyers and Protectors. Their purpose should be obvious, right?
“No wonder when you have all those eyes.”
All those eyes were weirdly moving separately. It’s like those eyes were scanning and watching the whole island.
The dimensional rift in the sky continued its rumbling. It’s showing a sign that the gate will soon open.
“Fighting Death’s successor at the start of the plan really was a waste of time. I let the woman ran away and call report the situation.”
***
Natalya, bringing the bad news with her, arrived at the UHA temporary headquarters. She ran for her life, not bothering stopping for a second to gasp for air. She’s used to running around since her role’s Assassin.
“Where’s the director?!”
Natalya wanted to talk to the director of the UHA directly to report the bad omen. The security that was guarding the door didn’t bother resisting. They let her get inside.
Standing with his hands on his back, silently gawking at the scenery in his windowpane behind his desk, the director of the UHA spoke, “Natalya Ozlova has arrived with the news about the impending war. Don’t be surprise. Someone already told me.”
“If so, why are you not doing something about it, director Miguel?!” Natalya shouted. Based on what Leo said, their enemies this time isn’t just some puny monsters but terrifying and wicked.
Miguel Wilkins constructed the UHA at the same time as the Hunters’ Associations appeared. He achieved countless S rank gates with his chosen top hunters, saving the lives of many.
“Don’t get me wrong, hunter Natalya. I was prepared to mobilize all the top hunters to present here on the island.” There was excitement in Miguel’s voice. Natalya has no clue why he was feeling excited. “Earlier, the chairman of the Philippines came here with the same news you have. The difference between you and him is that he was so calm about it.” The one Miguel was talking about is chairman Daniel Reyes, also known as Jegudiel.
Natalya waited for Miguel to continue talking. The director finally turned to face her. He offered her to sit, so she did. He gently sat down in his chair and continued, “chairman Daniel Reyes is a really interesting man. When I asked him what we should do,” he laughed, recalling what happened earlier. “Do you know what he said? It was absurd!” Miguel continued laughing and couldn’t even stop laughing anymore. He did his best to suppress his laughter. “He said, ‘let all of the top hunters here die.’ With a straight face!”
“And you think that’s funny?” Natalya’s getting annoyed at what the director’s acting.
“No, no, please. I got angry at him, at first too, when I heard that. But, after that, he was able to convince me.” Miguel didn’t explain any further, leaving Natalya curious and hanging. “You were with hunter Leo, right? Stick with him and, you’ll know what chairman Daniel wants.”
