Overlord: Blue Citadel Alternate - Chapter 30 『Alias』
The moment Ramposa III emerged from the room, and the door briefly clicked closed behind him, his daughter was standing right before him with her heavenly smile on her adorable face.
Long Blonde hair, a silver circlet with an ember colored jewel, big blue eyes and a petite build. According to the King, she looked just like her mother when she was much younger.
“Father,” her soft regel voice filled her father’s ears and he looked to his daughter as his companion stood beside him. “I have some ideas I’d like to…”
“My Daughter,” Ramposa the Third looked over her for a moment as he leaned on his cane. “I have somethings I must discuss with you in confidence.”
She blinked several times when her father had cut her off. Though it wasn’t abnormal for him to do so, he hardly ever actually went out of his way to get her input on something. It was only when she was trying to contribute did he actually look to hear from her unless it was a family related matter. She was becoming curious now of what he was going to talk to her about.
“Walk with me…” He said as he gestured for her to follow, keeping one hand on his cane as he began to move from the meeting chamber.
As they began to walk from the door, the six great nobles began to readily leave.

Gazef walked beside the two, his eyes vigilantly looking over their surroundings. Soon enough the Princesses own bodyguard, Climb, a boy with short blonde hair and blue eyes appeared.
He felt sorry for the young man, as he himself was bullied even more by the nobles for being not only of common birth, but also being poor. He was pretty much the pet of the Princess, though he wasn’t at all sure what their relationship was. At least in the eyes of the Third Princess.
“There is a Dragon that has been living beneath the Tob Forest, and seems to have wordlessly laid claim to Carne Village near E-Rantel.” The King began to describe the situation that they have been given. He wanted her to understand, she was going to have a hand in what was to happen next. A Dragon on their side was a must, and she was the only one he believed to be politically adequate.
Hearing of a Dragon from the King, her father, her eyes were a bit wider than before. She gripped the sides of her long collared blue dress. “What’s his name?”
A dragon would not only be a good tool for the King, the Kingdom, or even a military force. It would be a good tool for Princess Renner as well.
Her older brother, the Crown Prince Barbro was looking to sell her off to one of his supporters as a bride. She didn’t want this to happen and so, if she could get a Dragon in her good graces, she could potentially use it to protect herself from being used as a political tool.
“Jack Graham…”
Hearing the name utter from her father’s lips, her widened eyes immediately drooped. Once impressed, but that name sounded more human than that of a Dragon. “Are you sure that’s not an alias?”
The King chuckled at his daughter as she spoke. “The Marquis thought the same thing, my Daughter.” He shook his head a little and sighed, “It’s probably the name he uses when interacting with us humans. Judging by Gazef’s description of him, he’s a cryptic fellow.”
“Or he was just pulling my leg…” Gazef didn’t sound to enthused about the idea of Jack giving him a false name. Not that it was false, an alias could just mean an alternate identity.
Her eyes wandered up and down her father as he was limping along on that cane of his. She slowly turned her head to look out the massive open windows of the Royal Palace with a light sigh.
Her bodyguard immediately took notice. “Are you alright, Princess Renner?”
Her head shifted towards Climb and a smile appeared across her face, accompanied by light red tinge on her cheeks. “Yes,” she said cutely, “I am fine.”
“Hm…” The King looked over the Bodyguard for a moment before returning his attention to his daughter. “You are the only one I can depend on in orde to sway this Dragon to our side.”
She looked back to her father with a face of determination, one that she didn’t mind sharing. “If you want me to convince a Dragon to join our Kingdom, I will try my best. Cryptology is my specialty.” She was good at decoding messages, especially those from the current crime syndicate operating in the shadows of the Royal Capital.
So decoding a Dragon, shouldn’t be too hard right?
Seeing his daughter’s confidence, made the King nod proudly toward the child he sired.
“Without you, I don’t think I’d be able to change our Kingdom.” The King freely admitted in their confidence, “any of you.” His eyes circulated back to Gazef for an instant, only to look forward.
“Now for the time being, I must depart.” The King informed his daughter and company, “I must rest for a while…” Gazef and the King made for his private chambers, leaving the Bodyguard and Princess alone in the corridor as they vanished in the direction of their destination.
“There’s a Dragon, Climb!” She smiled brightly at the bodyguard who stood in full plate armor beside her. “And father is looking to me to tame it!”
Climb couldn’t help but smile at the fact that she was excited. Mostly because of what it could do for her if she could get the Dragon to join her side. “Your Highness, if this Dragon sees himself to be human, how do you seek to tame it?”
She blinked a few times at him, “Even humans can be tamed. We’re animals after all.”
Climb nodded, “Very wise, your highness.” He understood her wisdom, especially in these words, though not the depth of them. The two would continue to make their way down the corridor together towards her own chambers.

Jack was seated upon his throne looking over a screen that was showing the outside world, mostly the wall which was being erected around the village and part of the forest.
It was going faster than he had originally anticipated. He had completely underestimated the building power of his own people. Many of them worked without break, which he didn’t necessarily understand why.
He had told them to take breaks when they were tired, yet they never stopped, unless they were a homunculi as they needed far more nutrients in order to operate normally.
His eyes rested on the people of the Village and the way they were moving about. That’s when he felt a sneeze coming on, a tickling sensation in the back of his nose. Tilting his head back as he took a deep breath, he paused and waited.
He didn’t sneeze, not right away.
“Oi… What is– Aaachoo!” Jack frowned as he sneezed and pursed his lips. “Now..” Sneezing again a few more times, his eye twitched. “The head warrior is definitely giving his report about me,” he clicked his tongue as he joked to himself, shifting
He could use divination or even survienence magic to see what was going on in the capital, but he didn’t want to be caught spying. Not that it really mattered. He had very little expectations for this Kingdom’s magic casters, especially the ones in service to the crown.
He hadn’t seen any professional magic users in the Warrior Troop that had visited the Village. It was likely they were either in low demand, or in high demand, but were not available.
Plus his inside knowledge of how bad the Kingdom was pretty much gave him a general idea.
“Jack-sama,” the female standing beside the throne spoke loud enough to take his attention away from his thoughts and the screen ahead of him.
It was Silva, she had finished her reconnaissance on women wares not too long ago.
“What is it?” His eyes shifted over the vampire for a good look, before resting back into the cold crystalline throne, relaxing.
“Something’s been bothering me for a while now, how the villagers, especially that Enri and her child spawn… Address you so normally. Your name lets them relate to you, a little too much.”
Jack narrowed his eyes forward hearing her words. It was normal, to him at least, since this wasn’t the kind of world he originally lived in. Using his true name was one way that allowed people to either see him as who he was, or in this case, to relate to him.
“What do you suggest?” His eyes shifted towards the girl, who had turned herself in order to face him completely, she hid nothing from him, even behind her glimmering red eyes.
“A new name, Jack-sama. A name that will inevitably cause Kings, Emperors and Principalities of this world to kneel before your might. Fear, love, whatever you desire, your name should project.” She gestured with one hand as she used a soft tone with him, he was her superior, a creator of the beings within this very tomb.
As guild leader he had a hand in coding and creating all of their personalities, their quirks and even their looks in some parts.
“A new name…” He leaned his head back into the throne, his eyes going to the blue flickering hues of the flames above on the chandeliers that dotted the ‘world’ above him.
A single name came to his mind, it wasn’t special, it had no real meaning. “Vertum…?” His eyes squinted slightly as he focused. “…Vertumus?” He liked the sound of the first three letters on his lips. The name itself reminded him of the word Virtue.
“Hmmm…”
The woman looked over him as he was in thought, working out a new name that could possibly work to impress others that he worked with. Or lorded over as he would be doing with the village and its inhabitants.
She couldn’t help but smile softly seeing that he was enjoying himself as he traced over words.
“I think Vertum would make a great name, Jack-sama.” She nodded to her own words as she stepped towards him, lowering her head and then her upper body slightly in a subtle bow.
Jack narrowed his eyes on her. Vertum, the first name he had uttered was the first name she agreed with. Was she being Objective, or being a yes man. He preferred objectiveness, but he knew yesmen weren’t something he could get around easily when it came to his creations.
“Vertum it shall be then…” Jack leaned forward in his chair, no wondering how he could introduce himself, or in this case, reintroduce himself as Vertum to the inhabitance. He had already shared his true name, now he was going to give them an alias in which he wished to be addressed.
