Overlord: Blue Citadel Alternate - Chapter 33 『A Momentary Peace』
Vertum smiled widely as he felt the girl seat herself on his left leg, his arm naturally entangling itself around her waist.
Enri stared down at him with a blank smile on her lips, her brown eyes playing the part of the inquisitor. She watched as he moved and narrowly nudged his lips under her jaw.
A tingling sensation emitted itself across all of her nerves as she did so, all from that one spot. It was like the feeling of being touched by a beloved person. Their mere touch drove waves of pleasure to the mind, promoting a series of soft sounds in response.
Vertum chuckled at the human’s small sounds, she seemed like such a strong person in front of others in her village, yet she was so delicate in his arms. His other hand moved up to brush across the side of her face as he moved his lips to her own.
Her chest nearly exploded as her heart pounded against her rib cage. It was getting almost hard to breath as she felt his lips against hers.
She didn’t understand why she was feeling like this, not completely anyway. When he had taken her chastity, he was hardly this gentle with her. As he tilted his head and pushed her into the depths of a kiss, she found herself mimicking his actions.
“Mmm…” She whined into the kiss, feeling his arm wrapping around her even more.
Vertum sniggered to himself as he slowly broke his lips away from hers, with a subtle pop sound. His fingers trailed from the side of her face to the blouse, slowly he began to undo the buttons.
That was when he paused however, as the first one or two buttons. All of his hairs stood on end, his scales appearing on his face along the bridge of his nose and right beneath his eyes.
His Guild Base had just been subject to a Divination and the Security Measures had been activated!
“Now of all times…” Vertum uttered under his breath, he redid the buttons on her blouse, before pulling the hood up on the blue poncho-cloak she wore over her shoulders.
“Eh, What?” She blinked a few times though clearly excited as stars determination and excitement seemed to be forming by her head, “What’s going on?”
Vertum raised a brow seeing that she wanted to be involved, he chuckled a bit. “Nothing I can’t handle,” he said vaguely as he stood up from the chair, holding her close as he did.
As soon as he was standing, they suddenly teleported without warning, appearing in the center of the prison situated in Vilisyrteria. They found themselves positioned within the corridor between the various cells, a new occupant in one of them.
“…WhwhWhere am I?” A young girl cried out, wearing a blindfold and a thin cloth dress held together by a single string. It was the Miko Princess of Water, with her silvery metal-like spider web woven crown of blue jewels around her head.
Blood was running down the front of her face, from her nose, a side effect from the ritual.
Both Enri and Vertum just stared at the small teen who was crying and panicking in the cell.
“Why is there a young girl in the cell…?” The two of them spoke in unison, thinking the same exact thing. Though Vertum did know that the security system would teleport the medium used for the divination to the base, but he had no idea the Princess was so young.
Astra, the member of the Black Scripture was curled up in the corner of her cell, peeking up to look at the Princess. Her eyes widened as she noticed who she was.
However she couldn’t speak, nor verbally comfort the blind one.
Enri pulled herself from Vertum’s side and knelt before the cell, reaching out and grasping the child’s hand. “You’re going to be okay, we have you.” She smiled, holding the person’s hand.
The Princess seemed to be at least thirteen or fourteen years old. It was hard to tell how old she was, but she had very sharp facial features. This was evident as she started to peel off her blindfold and look at the people who weren’t her priests.
Nervous, she tried to pull away from Enri, only to find herself looking to the Dragon and coming to a halt.
“You… You… Who are you?” Compared to the woman who was holding onto her wrist now, the young girl could see the clothes he wore were far more impressive than the village girls.
“My name is Vertum, Overseer of Carne Village and Leader of the Vilisyrterian Empire.” He blurted out as he looked over the girl. He was slightly bothered by the fact he could see her form through her thin cloth clothes. At the same time, it didn’t really bother him at all.
“…” The young girl stopped pulling away from Enri and just stared at the man with her even sharper eyes. Her gaze then drifted over to the other nearest cell, her eyes resting on a member of the Black Scripture with her hair shaven and she was deprived her of personal belongings.
“Found you,” she pointed towards the girl as her nostrils flared, a wide smile across her lips.
The woman made a pained smile towards the girl who hardly found that they had fallen into a trap. It wouldn’t be much longer before they send the Black Scripture to the Great Forest of Tob in order to find the Princess.
“What’s with that look…?” The girl raised a brow slightly, tugging on her arm to no avail.
“You are now a prisoner of the Vilisyrterian Empire,” Vertum informed the girl who looked back towards him who blinked lightly.
“You’re not… Going to cut my hair are you…?”

“No, but you’re going to be wearing warmer clothes,” Vertum raised a brow slightly, his eyes narrowing on hers. “And more dignifying… For a Princess…”
The girl had short white hair, done in an asymmetric bob, with violet-blue eyes. This bob hugged the sides of her face, framing it like a masterpiece.
The Miko stared nervously up at him, his eyes were piercing right through her own, her legs began to tremble. Soon enough she had fallen to her knees, her free hand grasping at the bar ahead of her. She was growing pale, possibly another side effect due to the fact she had been torn away from the ritual before it was complete.
『Heal』was the spell Vertum cast on the girl, her vitality being immediately restored and her abnormal statuses being revoked.
Though still rather pale, she began to regain her normal skin tone. Panting silently, she looked up to him again and nodded. “Tha…Thank you…” She was curious as to why he had healed her. He had just told her she was a prisoner, and yet he had saved her from hours of suffering.
Astra shook her head, not believing the girl should’ve thanked him.
Vertum gave her a light smile as he drew Enri back to his side, away from the girl.
“What are you going to do with her?” His current muse looked up to him with her big brown eyes, her lips pressed tightly together to emphasize the seriousness of this question.
“She will be held here as a Prisoner of War and will be used accordingly to the needs of the Empire.” Vertum spoke outright, speaking only fact in this case.
Blinking at this, Enri nodded slowly and looked back towards the girl who was resting up against the bars of the cell, her blindfold falling slightly back into place.
“The needs of the Empire…?” The young Miko looked towards the other girl in the nearby cell. She didn’t want to ask why her hair was removed, why she didn’t seem to be able to make a sound, let alone why she was curled up in a corner.
“Unless you wish for Political Asylum,” Vertum added all of a sudden which immediately caught the Miko’s attention, though she didn’t quite know what it was.
“W-what’s Political Asylum?”
“Will you defect to my Empire?” The dragon responded to the question with another question of his own. Which ultimately dumbfounded the girl as she put the two and two together.
She was being asked if she would join his faction for protection against her current alignment.
“Well…? You’re only going to be given this one chance,” Vertum tilted his head to the side slightly looking over her again. “You will be treated humanely if you do.”
The last bit made her tense for a moment. If she wasn’t going to do it, she wouldn’t be treated humanely? That didn’t sound all that good, as it sounded similar to human. Slowly exhaling, letting her shoulders droop, her lip quivered slightly. “I… I defect.”
“Good. The other Miko Princesses will be given the same choice should they be acquired.” He spoke of them as if they weren’t human, more so pawns or objective assets for the Empire, much like how the Slane Theocracy treated and saw them as.
Either way, she acknowledged this by nodding slowly again.
Reaching into his item box, he pulled out what appeared to be a plain white nightgown and held it through the bars for her to take. “For your own protection, you will stay here until the Black Scripture make their appearance… Once they’re dealt with, you will live within the Citadel.”
Blinking when he spoke of a citadel, she looked towards the slotted window that face towards what appeared to be a massive construct underground.
“It’s bigger on the inside,” Enri added suddenly as she smiled big towards the young girl, though she felt bad for her. Being locked in this cell. Though she didn’t expect Vertum to pull out another item.
Vertum held out another object, a body pillow covered in plush fabric, enchanted with the ability to shift its size to match the user.
Blinking at the pillow, the girl reached out and grabbed it with both arms. Immediately she felt warm and she placed her chin on the end of it, looking over at the two of them with her violet-blue eyes. “There is one… One thing you should know… All Miko Princesses can cast Fifth Tier Magic, and with our aide, our priests can cast up to eighth tier magic.”
“Hm… Sounds like acquiring the Princesses is the only way for me to secure absolute victory over the Theocracy,” as the magic used over the seventh tier would be able to harm him, this was truth. “Thank you for the information, perhaps you’ll find yourself in a room of your own before you know it.”
