Overlord: Multiverse - Chapter 23: Yggdrasil XXI
The guild members of Ainz Ooal Gown decided to challenge Nazarick and conquer in a single attempt. All the guild’s members left the old clan’s base and ventured to the heart of Helheim.
Before leaving the base, we took everything from there. We kept traversing the landscape of Nifelheim en route to Helheim.
During our journey, no one messed with us. We had a party of 32 Level 100 Players; only a fool would try to fight us. It took us an hour to reach Nazarick.
We set up a temporary residence near Nazarick by using a 10th-tier spell.
Ancient One: “*Create Fortress*”
A massive fortress with 30 floors materialized on a hill. Anyone on the same team could open those doors with a touch. All others would have to break them down.
We then used several other spells to make the fortress more strong. After ensuring its security and leaving the Production-Oriented Players in charge, the guild members continued their journey toward Nazarick. Originally, Nazarick only had six floors instead of ten.
Floors from one to five were guarded by Five Rulers. Five Rulers were a group of powerful monsters that inhibited Nazarick. To conquer Nazarick, one had to defeat these Five Rulers.
Only after subduing them would intruders be able to advance and face the boss of the dungeon: the Lord of Helheim, who awaited on the sixth floor.
Nazarick was recommended for level 80+ players to beat in one attempt.
After reaching the poisonous swamps that surrounded Nazarick, we began our final preparations. Punitto Moe had already briefed us about the strategy to conquer it in one go.
He made 5 parties of 6 Players that would challenge the dungeon. Each party was responsible for each floor. And after subduing the Five Rulers, all the parties would attack the sixth floor together.
When a party killed a boss on one of the floors, the other party would take the lead for the next one.
I was the leader of the second party, responsible for the second floor of Nazarick.
Momonga: ‘Guess I have to wait for my turn.’
It took 15 minutes for the first party to conquer the first floor.
Punitto: “Second party, proceed.”
My party included Buku, Pero, Tmerperance, Suratan and Tabula. It took us a minute to reach the second floor.
The second floor looked like a desolate wasteland with grey land and a dark sky.
Skeletons and low-level undead were roaming around the land.
Momonga: “Tabula.”
I looked toward the brain eater, and he understood my intentions.
Tabula: “*Maximize Widen Magic: Magic Ward: Holy.*”
A domain formed around us and engulfed the undead.
It was a 9th spell that created a domain around the user; in it, undead and evil entities took damage. It could directly pulverize any low-level undead. It took us 5 minutes to reach the heart of the floor, where the boss was waiting.
The boss was a night-lich, capable of summoning undead and powerful magic. But his physical states were pitiful.
Momonga: “Alright then, I’ll be the one to deal with the lich. Tabula and Temperance cast support me with spells and blessings. Suratan, Pero, and Buku- you’ll deal with the summoned undead.”
Everyone: “Understood.”
Momonga: “Let’s get started then.”
I already had switched to my Vampire variant and equipped Clarent and lunged toward the night-lich. It raised its staff, and a massive magic circle formed beneath my feet.
I quickly jumped to the side to avoid the spell. As I landed, a massive pillar of fire materialized from the magic circle. Without waiting, I again lunged toward the night-lich using a skill.
Momonga: “Shadowstep Slash!”
I teleported behind it and swung my sword. But it was able to evade my swing by using teleportation magic. It again raised its staff, and a massive circle manifested before it. After a second, hordes of undead materialized.
The hordes contained a few high-level undead like elemental skulls, death emperors, etc.
Without waiting, Pero shot an arrow in the middle of the horde. I, on the other hand, used “Gaia’s Fury Slash!.”
A skill from the ‘Weapon God’ job skill; materialized a giant rocky sword below my enemy’s feet. I struck the ground with my sword’s tip, and at the same time, a massive sword made of rock materialized under its location.
Fortunately, it failed to react, and the sword pierced its body. But this amount of damage wasn’t enough to kill it.
Momonga: “Let’s get this over with.”
It took me 4 minutes to kill it. After picking up the loot, we exited the second floor.
Time Skip~
It took us 2 hours to conquer Nazarick.
But in the end, we managed to conquer it in one attempt. As a prize, the devs gave us the World Item: The Throne of the Kings.
~Flashback~
All the members of Ainz Ooal Gown were standing on the 6th floor of Nazarick. They had just killed the last boss, The Lord of Helheim, and conquered the dungeon.
Everyone was cheering at the occasion. After a few seconds of cheering, Everyone in the party received a notification from the devs.
…
[Congrgulations to the guild of Ainz Ooal Gown for conquering Nazarick in one attempt.]
[We have decided to award you a World Item.]
[The World Item is known as The Throne of Kings.]
…
Touch: “WHAT!?”
Pero: “That’s insane.”
Similar comments were given by the other members as well.
[The World Item has been transferred into the inventory of the leader of Ainz Ooal Gown; Also, additional Data Levels: 500, have been awarded to the guild of Ainz Ooal Gown.]
~Flashback Ends~
To make NPCs, a Player needed Data Levels. And a guild base had a fixed amount of data storage for making Custom NPCs.
Nazarick had a data stoarge of 2,250. Meaning they could either make 22 Level 100 NPCs or 2,250 Level 1 NPCs.
But the devs also awarded the guild with an additional 500 Data Levels. Increasing data storage to 2,750.
It had already been a few days since we conquered Nazarick. We also transferred all of our stuff from the fortress to the Nazarick.
In the meeting room, the majority of the guild members were present.
Momonga: “Hello, everyone.”
After pleasantries and small talk, we moved to the main agenda of the meeting. Now, all the members of the guild were present.
Momonga: “I think everyone knows the main agenda of the first official meeting of Ainz Ooal Gown.”
Everyone nodded.
Momonga: “Before telling my suggestions, I would like to hear your guys’ suggestions.”
The first one to speak was Punitto Moe.
Punitto: “I think the current structure of the base is too simplistic. It can easily be infiltrated. I propose to increase the floors to at least 10. We also need a central treasury, a throne room for the World Item, and powerful NPCs to hinder and stop the Players from reaching the top floors.”
Touch: “I agree with Punitto-san’s point. We also need to increase the base’s security by using traps, pop monsters, etc.”
Ulbert: “We also need to make the base look cool. It is the base for Ainz Ooal Gown, which will be the most powerful guild of Yggdrasil in the future. A protector of all the Heteromorphs.”
Pero: “I also agree with Ulbert-san’s opinion.”
Blue Planet: “I also agree with the suggestion. I will like to make a floor that depicts the natural beauty of the Earth that has been lost.”
Pero: “I would like to make a powerful lolita NPC!”
Buku: “Pervert!”
Pero: “I’m not a pervert. I’m a man of culture.”
He spoke with such confidence that a golden light descended from god knows where and engulfed him.
Buku: “Yeah, keep calling yourself that! Anyway, I also want to make beautiful elven NPCs.”
Some other suggestions were also made by the other members.
Momonga: “I agree with your suggestions of increasing the floor numbers. We will also need to create NPCs as well. And I also have some of my suggestions as well.”
I cleared my throat before speaking again.
Momonga: “I would like to increase the number of floors to 11. The 10th floor should be the throne room. We also need a last line of defence if any intruder manages to reach the higher floors. I don’t think we should make the treasury on a floor; making it a separate space would be more secure.”
I stopped for a bit before speaking again.
Momonga: “We should all work together to make the last defence line for Nazarick. I think the 8th floor would be best for that.”
Everyone agreed to my suggestions.
Punitto: “I have another suggestion. I suggest making each floor quite big and dividing them into areas where particular NPCs can be put on guard. And we should also have a single NPC be the guardian of the whole floor.”
He stopped for a bit before continuing.
Punitto: “By doing so, everyone will get a chance to create their own custom NPC. The floor guardian NPC should be level 100 while the area guardian NPCs can be of low levels.”
Perro: “I agree with your suggestion.”
Ulbert: “Me too. Also, if we are making a throne room, I think there should also be maids.”
HeroHero: “YUP! I’m all for making a maid. Just consider; a maid who can fight and protect her master.”
We talked for a while, finalizing our plan for the guild base.
Punitto: “And what about the 11th floor?”
Momonga: “11th floor will be my floor. I want to create something truly amazing. As for what the 11th floor will be? That’s a secret.”
Perro: “Come on, man. Don’t keep us in suspense.”
To Be Continued…
A/N: If you find the quality of the chapter a bit poor. Please forgive me because I am sick today. That’s the reason I skipped the boss fight. Peace.
