Overpowered life of a Drako Tamer - Chapter 2 Abilities unseen
-2 years later.-
“Concentrate on your form. No openings… good, good, now strike.
Elias swung his sword with practiced ease. He looked on as the blade cut through the air creating a wave into the surrounding area in front of him. As he recovered from the cut he heard crashes in front of him. He saw five trees now on the ground, cut at their bases.
“It seems I overdid it again huh.”
This was not the first time Elias “Overdid it.” Ever since the first lessons Elias showed very inhuman abilities. No human without a beast connection could hope to even cut a single tree down like this. In fact what he did was completely superhuman. Jahrico, who has already seen great feats of strength by the young knight was still baffled by his abilities.
“Very good Elias, very good. Your form was perfect. You are becoming a fine swordsman. But it seems that is all for today.”
The man turned and headed for his hut. As Elias rested on a freshly cut stump he saw lights and smoke come out of their little house, and at one point his teacher cursed in pain. After a little time had passed he came out holding a handful of gems. Jahrico held out his free palm and two chairs and a table came into existence. He sat on one and told Elias to do the same.
“You know what these are correct, these are training gems. When a Drako focuses it’s magic, it can create crystals from its elements, these are used to test the affinity of a person. Simply hold one, point it in a direction and say a word that comes to mind.”
He set the eight crystals on the table. Elias reached for a Blue crystal. He picked it up and it glowed.
“Ah a water affinity huh, I thought that would be yours. Please continue.”
As Elias thought of words he could use none seemed to be right. It seemed all the ones he chose had no meaning. Than one came to him, it seemed right, and so he used it.
“Will!”
After the word ‘Will’ was uttered the crystal seemed to shake. A torrent of water rushed out from the crystal and completely soaked the trees he was aiming at. Surprised by what happened Elias quickly sat the stone down. He saw his mentor standing with his jaw dropped low.
” Did I overdo it again?”
“My boy, that was the most spectacular display I have ever seen, in all my years I have not seen such a strong attack from a Gemstone Testing. You are talented my boy, truly talented, all thanks to me no doubt.”
Jahrico closed his eyes with a smug smile on his face, whispering things under his breath. Coming back to reality he sat back down and cleared his throat.
“It is rare for a person to have more than one affinity, but we test each crystal anyways.
As Elias continued the test they discovered that he had an affinity to each of the elements, witch makes him one of ten people how have ever had such a skill. His attacks destroyed the tree line and earned him very angry looks from the Drako who was watching him. As he got to the last gem, a green one, it seemed that Jahrico has turned serious again. During Elias’s test he simply sat with a dumb grin on his face.
Elias pointed the stone and closed his eyes.
“Will!”
As Elias waited for the explosion all he heard was silence.
“Interesting, it seems you don’t have the Nature affinity. Wait.”
As he looked upon the wreckage of the test he was disappointed at himself for causing so much damage, it reminded him of the lectures about the war. As he grew depressed and mad at himself he heard Jahrico’s chair fall to the ground.
As Elias looked up he saw the scorch makers and other damages he caused on the trees disappear and in their place newer, healthier trees stood. They were glowing and looked like they were in the peak of spring. Jahrico was now standing, not surprised or happy, but showed a face of a man lost in memory.
“Elias, that is the second time I have seen this power.”
Elias saw tears start dripping off the mans grey beard.
“I-I’m sorry I didn’t mean to make you cry I-”
“No, no, I’m not sad, in fact I thank you. I thought I would never see this again. Cherish this Elias, Cherish it.”
More tears streamed down Jahrico’s face as he twisted a ring on his left ring finger. Elias got up and hugged him. The old man sobbed into his shoulder. Elias felt closer to Jahrico, not as a teacher but as his Grandfather. He was the closest thing to a family he has had.
After a couple of minutes Jahrico patted him on the shoulder.
“Thank you, Elias, for letting me see that. Now enough of this crying business, let’s have dinner. Tomorrow we begin magic lessons, because of your affinities you have a great deal of things to learn.”
As Elias watched the old man enter the hut he simply smiled and looked at the trees one of which had turned into an apple tree. He walked over and snagged two off the branch and headed for the hut to have dinner with his grandfather. As he walked he heard the old man humming a tune.
