PALPATE MY HEART: Dr. Wicked is My Wife - Chapter 65
“Send it to Chairman Shen. She can go ahead and follow the plan.” Yun Jinghan handed the cooperation agreement he reviewed to Amy. He volunteered to sort out the issues regarding the hotel she acquired recently in this place. Additionally, he had to meet the Japanese businessman his grandmother wanted to cooperate with. Shen Food Corporation intended to enter the Japanese hotel industry.
Amy took the documents. She stood but didn’t leave the room.
“Is there something you didn’t tell me? You are holding your elbow with your right again.” Yun Jinghan asked. Amy always acted this way when she was anxious.
Withholding any information about Miss Luo would get them into trouble. So even if she didn’t want to rat out K2, she recounted what happened to her boss.
There was a moment of silence in the room.
“When did it happen?”
“This morning.” Amy looked away.
“It takes hours for me to get this news. When did everyone become so incompetent?” Yun Jinghan loosened his tie and walked out.
…..
Luo Jingyi stifled her yawn. After listening to 10 different speakers present their papers, she was bored to death. None of what was presented deserved to be awarded funding.
At the same time, the idea of looking into surgical equipment which could be acquired by NLHC had been sacked. None of what was presented was considered innovative enough. That was the only reason she came this year.
When the woman on her left commented on how boring it became, she nodded her head in agreement. Luo Jingyi reached for her phone but realizing it wouldn’t even turn on, she checked the time on her watch. There was an hour left. She just couldn’t wait for this day to end. Sinking on her seat, she restrained herself from leaving.
‘What is he doing right now?’ When the thought registered inside her head, Luo Jingyi grimaced. Shoving down her annoyance, she scolded herself for thinking random things.
Minutes later, Luo Jingyi sensed someone occupied the empty space on her right. A tap on her arm made her wince and turn. Yun Jinghan’s smiling face came to her sight. Luo Jingyi blinked rapidly, then her eyes stilled.
‘How come he appeared here?’ The security at the entrance was tight. One had to show their medical license.
“Why are you here?”
“I had a meeting upstairs and decided to come to check it out.” He lied. Anger was looming in him when he noticed her facial expression when he touched the part Wen Minghua gripped this morning. Although he was pleased that she kicked the man, it didn’t diminish his anger towards Wen Minghua. Who the heck was he to touch his woman?
Luo Jingyi gave him a once over. He changed his casual clothes this morning into a suit. With it, he looked more intimidating. For reasons she couldn’t fathom, fury was discernible in his eyes.
‘Did something happen?’
“If you keep on looking like that, I’ll be tempted to kiss you.” Yun Jinghan teased yet it lacked its usual flair.
‘It’s really him.’ Luo Jingyi crossed her arms and focused her attention upfront.
It was Wen Minghua’s turn. He was holding the mike and he started his presentation. Luo Jingyi listened attentively to what he was saying which was interpreted differently by the man sitting beside her. She appeared bored earlier but now she was watching her ex with interest.
Muttering unkind things under his breath, a sullen look was plastered on Yun Jinghan’s face.
‘Do you still care for him?’ Yun Jinghan meant to ask but the words never left his lips.
But unknown to him, Luo Jingyi was listening intently because memories of the original danced in her head. The hours she poured and the sweat she bled in order to finish this particular paper. Then, the original gave it to Wen Minghua as a present. He never even thanked the person who laid all the groundwork. Most of Wen Minghua’s schoolwork was in fact completed by the original. She was frustrated that the original would fall for someone like Wen Minghua. The paper was indeed worthy of the grand prize, unfortunately, Wen Minghua didn’t deserve to reap the benefits.
‘Wen Minghua, do you want a parting gift? I’ll definitely give you one.’ Luo Jingyi mumbled.
“Is he that interesting?” Yun Jinghan’s question broke her trance.
Wondering why his voice sounded jealous, she turned on the side and gave a crisp ‘no.’
“Then why have you been looking at him?”
“I was just ruminating which part of him I liked in the past.”
The sour feeling inside him disappeared. “So did you get an answer?”
Luo Jingyi tapped her fingers on the armrest before she voiced out. “After looking at it, there’s nothing remarkable about him. His appearance is average. When he speaks, he sounded like a chicken clucking early in the morning. Whereas, you are more handsome. You have a magnetic voice. To be honest, you are a better catch than him.”
Yun Jinghan chuckled which resulted in people casting them a glance. Luo Jingyi patted his hand on the armrest to warn him to quiet down.
Glancing at the hand on him, Yun Jinghan stared at her. She didn’t seem to realize she was still holding him.
