PALPATE MY HEART: Dr. Wicked is My Wife - Chapter 69
Yun Jinghan cast a brief look when his phone dinged for a new message. Smiling upon reading its content, he typed a reply. He set down his phone and checked the acquisition proposal his team drafted.
K2 stood on the side. He was waiting for his punishment. The quieter his Young Master was, the more terrible mood he was in. Seeing him smile, he called his attention pensively.
“What is it?” Yun Jinghan kept himself glued to what he was reviewing.
“Young Master, B1 asked if he should send you the information he found on Miss Luo.” K2 put forth. At first, Yun Jinghan threatened B1 to find out more about her. But after that, their boss never asked for an update about that matter.
“I don’t need it. Destroy the file.” Yun Jinghan ordered. He decided that it was pointless knowing what happened in the past. As he decided before, he would wait for her to open her life to him. There was no rush.
“Okay, As for Dr. Xu Wei, he still hadn’t found a clue. ” K2 reported.
“What about the photos?”
“Destroyed.”
K2 went on when the Young Master didn’t speak, “The people Chairman Shen’s butler sent, Miss Luo, took care of it. I don’t know what happened but that agency said they will never accept any job related to her even with a hefty price tag.”
“She has means.” Yun Jinghan laughed. That was the reason why he didn’t deal with it. He wanted to see what she was going to do.
K2 mustered his courage and asked, “Young Master, could I talk to you about Miss Luo?”
“Go ahead.” Halting what he was doing, Yun Jinghan removed his glasses and rested his back on the chair.
“I think that Miss Luo isn’t the right person for you.”
K2 swallowed, feeling regretful of what he said after seeing the dangerous glint in his eyes.
“Is that why you didn’t report what happened to her this morning?”
‘Yes. Because you are slaving yourself in order to pursue her.’ K2 meant to say but bit it back.
“You will need someone with a solid backing with the matters over there.”
Yun Jinghan never expressed his desire to take over the Yun empire but his grandfather had been vocal in naming him as the successor. This had been causing rift not only between father and son but also between the two brothers. When Yun Jinghan set up Terra Firma Corporation, it was purely due to his desire to prove a name for himself and to stay away from his paternal family’s side.
“You think she’s not cut to be my wife?” Yun Jinghan quizzed. The narrow slits in his eyes never disappeared. He pushed his chair and rose. Fixing his gaze on K2, Yun Jinghan sat at the edge of the desk.
K2 ignored the discomfort rising in him and expressed his thoughts. “Miss Luo’s family background is very simple. Now that the Eldest Young Master is marrying the granddaughter of the Xia Family. The elders would definitely give their support to him which would put you in a precarious situation.”
The Eldest Young Master was Yun Jinghan’s older brother, Yun Mo.
A hard smile crept on Yun Jinghan’s face. His next words were spoken flatly.”You sounded as condescending as my father. Do you want me to return you to him?”
Beads of cold sweat broke on K2’s forehead. Memories of him being beaten to death by Yun Jinghan’s father sent shivers down his spine. The father’s cruelty was equal to none.
“May the Young Master punish.” K2 kneeled on the floor.
“Do you know where you are wrong?”
“Forgive me for being presumptuous. I should never mention these words again.”
“I am different from my brother. A man who depends on his woman to achieve what he wants is never considered a man. So whether my family approves or not, my marriage partner will always Luo Jingyi. This fact will never change.”
After uttering these words, Yun Jinghan returned to the chair.
“What occurred this morning, I don’t want it to happen again. Go and take your punishment.”
“Yes Young Master.”
…..
Luo Jingyi brushed her teeth, pausing from time to time when the conversation kept playing in her head.
“The truth is, I like you.” It was like a broken record on repeat.
Luo Jingyi was suddenly curious about Yun Jinghan’s ex-girlfriends. If he said the same thing to them. She couldn’t help doubting because he always seemed to know what to say. That he was very experienced in this. Most of the time, she was left speechless.
Rinsing her mouth, she spat the water out and stared at herself in the mirror, feeling confused. It was still on her mind after she completed her night time skin routine and crawled to the bed.
Luo Jingyi tossed and turned, unable to sleep. She was being overwhelmed by how things were going. When she decided to give it a try but she wasn’t completely a hundred percent on it. After some time, she gave up on the idea of turning in early.
Luo Jingyi took her laptop and powered it on. Placing a pillow behind her, she leaned on the headboard, the computer on her lap and checked her emails. There were a dozen waiting to be processed. With Song Hia’s absence, it was a struggle. So she decided to check the list her vacationing assistant emailed. Even though Song Hia was sent on a trip abruptly, she made sure to choose at least five possible candidates to cover for her for the next four weeks. In this regard, she was still efficient.
As Luo Jingyi scanned over the resume’s her mind kept drifting somewhere and kept pushing it back. Yet, it sprung out again.
“Yun Jinghan, what are you doing to me?”
Annoyed with herself, she closed the fourth resume and decided to simply hire the last one without checking her out. Shortly after typing a short email to that person, she shut her computer, put it aside and laid down on the bed, staring at the ceiling.
