PARAGON OF DEATH - Chapter 59
59 Chapter 58: First Kiss
Damon stood coldly in his blood-red bone armored and his bone scythe shrouded in hell flames. The ground on which he stood was losing all signs of life and turning grey while the air around him was still and stagnant.
He gazed at the grey wolf coldly and pondered on what next to do. While this barrier prevents anything outside from noticing what’s happening inside, he refused to believe the arch mage won’t notice something if they went beyond the power level they were currently fighting at.
The eyes of the three-tailed fox revealed the same emotions as Damon. The formation is an exclusive ability only available for fox spirits at a certain level so she knew how it works. It can only suppress power up to a certain level. Anything beyond that would make the formation unstable, causing the aura to leak.
Once that happens, it’s over for them!
Damon and the fox spirit knew this and were reluctant to continue their battle.
“In the end, I won’t be able to kill you today!” Damon said coldly and the fox spirit frowned in response.
It watched Damon’s armor vanish in darkish purple flames and watched him walk towards the exit. The three-tailed fox spirit refused to move until she was sure Damon was gone.
Only then did she let out a sigh of relief! Without hesitation, she assumed her human form once again and raced into the hall.
“We are leaving now!” The lady said decisively with a fierce look on her face.
…..
“But, we only need some time and we can complete the ritual. It shouldn’t take more than an hour!” One of the robed Fox spirits standing at the edges of the hall argued.
They put in so much effort and resources to make this happen, so leaving it behind just halfway in can be considered a major blow in their plans.
“The kid escaped! If he gets the news to the arch mage can you stop him?” the lady growled furiously but she also left out the part that Damon was the death mage.
Her words were like alarms ringing in the heads of the hooded men. The moment she mentioned the existence of the arch mage, fear crept into the hearts of many and they quickly decided to listen to her.
………
Damon walked up the stairs leading to the floor where his room was located. He didn’t know how long he has been away or how late it is now. After he left the barrier range he still stayed close by and watched to make sure the fox spirits don’t go through with their plan. Only after seeing them leave did he finally decide to return to his dormitory.
Arriving at his floor he was shocked to see Lucy curled up like a ball just beside his room door. He failed to understand why she would stay here and wait for him all night.
“Has she forgotten I am a werewolf? She should be terrified” Damon said with a sigh.
This night could be considered a major failure. Not only did he fail to kill the fox spirits, but he also ended up killing two students in the process. He couldn’t help but look at his open palms while getting lost in thought. He may have managed to stop the ritual, saving many students in the process but he still messed up big time.
His control over the death magic is beginning to slip.
He finally understood why Klien’s sister barely used the death magic and decided to depend on other forms of dark magic. If she used the death magic, she wouldn’t have been captured in the first place not to mention killed.
His eyes were calm but his heart was heavy. The more souls he consumed the stronger he became and the more he lost himself to the power of death. Right now he couldn’t help but wonder what exactly is the real curse here.
The death magic or the werewolf curse.
“Why can’t these things ever be simple?” Damon muttered before he walked towards his door and unlocked it.
He turned and gazed at Lucy on the floor and frowned. His mind kicked against his next action but he did it anyway.
Damon carried the sleeping beauty in his arms and was stunned at her Smoot her skin was. It felt like if he put in more pressure he would sink in. Her fragrance surged into his sensitive nostrils, leaving him dazed for a short while and her bouncy bosoms pressed against his chest.
Damon frowned at pushed those thoughts off his mind with great effort. He took her in and dropped her on one side of the bed. Damon was no gentleman and since the bed was king size he decided to sleep at the other end.
He was extremely worn out and slept off the moment his head hit the pillow.
……….
Aaaahhh!
A scream struck his mind like a hammer, giving him a piercing headache, and causing him to frown a bit before opening his eyes.
Damon sat up with a frown and noticed it was morning already. Maybe it was because he was too tired or maybe he actually slept quite late but Damon wasn’t feeling refreshed, instead, he felt even worse.
“Where am I?” Lucy asked as she held on to the white blanket and used it to cover herself.
Looking at her act this way, Damon sighed and got to his feet, wondering if he should have just left her outside. He didn’t bother to explain either. He just got off the bed, revealing his black shirt riddled with holes and cuts!
Seeing it, Lucy was temporarily stunned. At this moment, memories of everything that happened raced into her head and she soon realized how much of a mistake she made.
“You shouldn’t sleep beside my door or in my room. Anyone who sees you will get the wrong idea” Damon said calmly before walking toward the bathroom to wash his mouth.
Lucy’s face reddened at his words and she hugged a pillow tight with her face lowered. She would occasionally steal glances at the bathroom door but didn’t move. After a few minutes, Damon stepped out only to see her in the same position and frowned.
“Don’t you think it’s time you head back to your room?” Damon asked with a raised eyebrow.
“Were you hurt?” Lucy asked a question, ignoring his words.
At first, Damon didn’t understand her question but then he realized his shirt was practically ruined.
“I got cut and stabbed a few times by a good number of them. It was nothing serious” Damon answered calmly.
“Why did you help me?” Lucy suddenly lifted her face and asked.
The innocence, following the green eyes, left even Damon’s tongue-tied. He realized how beautiful the lady was at this moment and fought hard to keep his emotions in check.
“Don’t think too much about it. I didn’t come out to help you, I simply had to protect the other humans since that’s my duty as a lone wolf… It has nothing to do with you” Damon lied with a straight face.
In response, Lucy nodded while her eyes drifted back and forth. She seemed silent got a short while before turning her attention to Damon again but she didn’t talk this time. She just gazed into his eyes and surprisingly, Damon felt nervous.
As a person who stood against the man called death and didn’t flinch he felt extremely ashamed of himself when he looked away to avoid eye contact with a lady weaker than him.
While he was lost in his crazed thoughts he failed to notice Lucy walk up to him. He only noticed her presence when she was standing right in front of him.
Before Damon could speak, her lips rammed into his, and her usually long tongue wrapped around his, making it hard for him to speak!
Damon’s cold face flushed red and no matter how much he wanted to push her away his body refused to respond to his command.
The duo kissed passionately for about thirty seconds before Lucy broke away. Her cheeks were red and this time she was too shy to look Damon in the eyes.
“You are a terrible liar” She said before she hastily ran towards the exit of the room.
Opening the door she was stunned to see Cyrus, Gin, and Klien at the door! The trio was confused as well but seeing her blush and seeing Damon’s reddened face they soon got a summarised version of all that happened.
Their eyes darted all the way to the messed up king sized bed and then Damon’s torn shirt. It was obvious something wild must have happened here.
Right now, their imagination was at its best, playing so many crazy scenarios in their heads
Lucy simply bowed respectfully in their direction and left hastily while the three stood there gazing at Damon with a raised eyebrow.
Their lips may not have moved but their eyes said it all.
Traitor!
“I- I can explain!”
