PARAGON OF DEATH - Chapter 69
69 Chapter 68: New Plan
Damon stood rooted to the spot with an ugly expression and a fierce look on his face. Even Jean who would normally attack him on every little thing he did turned pale in fear as she heard Duke Hail’s words. The existence of the blood clan’s originals or first bloods as they say is no secret to any being on the continent.
Disregarding the fact that these beings have lived for thousands of years to accumulate this much power it wasn’t too shocking to know that they have seven members who are all in the spirit realm in terms of strength.
Each of the blood clan’s first blood is powerful enough to trade blows with the emperor or the arch mage, Kratos was enough to make Damon and Jean pale in fear.
Now, how are they meant to go against seven of them?
“What the hell? If I can accomplish that task, with that strength I might as well take on the entire kingdom alone and settle my grudges” Damon swore with a worried look.
If he is capable of taking down even one of the spirit realm beings, doesn’t that mean he is a being on the same level as the son of heaven?
Once he is at this level, does he really need to listen to the kingdom?
Hell no!
“Growing you to be capable of fighting the Blood clan’s first blood is part of the plan too but even if you fail to reach that level, we have other means of winning” Tristan, the youngest member of the Hail family finally spoke up with a stern look on his face.
…..
He didn’t seem as strict as Dennis Hail but he wasn’t too flexible either. He took after Duke Hail’s jovial nature and also a small portion of Dennis’ strict nature.
“Lone wolves don’t need to cultivate like the rest of us, they just need to keep killing and we will put you in a position to do so,” Duke Hail said with a smile.
“Under the orders of the crown, we will clear up what’s left of the blood clan in this kingdom and lead an army towards the stronghold of the enemy. With the war between the orcs and humans becoming far more of a possibility, we must get rid of any potential foe who may take advantage of this and try to stop us” Alicia Hail said as soon as Duke Hail was done talking!

Damon exhaled and took a few steps back. He wore a stern look on his face as he pondered on everything. His arrival as a lone wolf is like a beacon to the world, that’s one thing he is sure of. This class is extremely rare even amongst the supernatural beings. He had no choice but to get involved in this war.
To think he once thought the king and arch mage Kratos were trying to protect him from his impulsive nature. He believed they did this because they didn’t want him to risk his life fighting orcs at such a young age. To think they just wanted to get him involved in a far more gruesome battle.
“Fuck my life” Damon cursed under his breath as his voice grew heavy.
Was he panicking?
Why wouldn’t he?
He was getting forced into a war he was not prepared for in any way!
He is only thirteen!
Yes, twelve may be the legal marriage age in this world, but it still doesn’t mean he isn’t too young for this!
“War is more about strategies and formations! Even the son of heaven who is the most powerful being in this kingdom can be killed by a properly groomed army… See this an opportunity for you to grow” Duke Hail patted his shoulder and walked off the field.
He was going to give the two the space they needed to spar now. While he left, Damon and Jean stood unmoving with stern looks on their faces. They knew what this meant.
They were getting involved in a war! If the other students knew what they were getting involved in they would be envious. If they fought well and managed to survive this war somehow, wouldn’t that make them elites?
“Enough dulling, let’s get this over with!” Damon suddenly spoke up with an energetic voice as he bounced into position.
In truth, this plan does not go against his plans. He wanted to serve in the military so that he would be able to fight battles and accumulate souls. Joining the Hails has only pushed him into a far bigger battlefield!
If he is able to kill enough to become a spirit realm lone wolf then the souls he consumes should be enough to make him a spirit realm mage too. By this time, not even the son of heaven can threaten him again!
While everything looked perfect, deep down Damon knew something must go wrong. He had this strong feeling about life! Nothing always goes as planned but he wasn’t willing to bother about that now.
“Okay!” Jean was shockingly energetic as well.
Her reasons for having sparkling eyes were still unknown to Damon or anyone else.
“Is it just me or are these two a bit too excited with the war about to take place?” Duke Hail asked with a raised eyebrow. If he knew this would be their reaction he would have told them about this a lot sooner!
“I think we picked up really capable people this time. Father would have been proud” Alicia said with a bitter smile.
Till today she shouldn’t help but remember the day the old pack led an army to face off with the Blood clan in a single, decisive battle just like they have to do now.
They lost!
………..
Silence filled the air as the two stood at a distance gazing at each other. Damon wore his plain black shirt and trousers with slippers and Jean was dressed in casual wear too. Both sides sat and watched each other in silence as if they were waiting for something!
Bang!
Suddenly the two burst into a full sprint charging toward each other!
Xiu!
Jean was like a blur shooting toward Damon at incredible speed! The fact that she could move so fast was terrifying! It was definitely at the same level as the three-tailed fox spirit.
Swoosh!
Boom!
Before Damon could react the figure smashed into him! Damon felt like he was hit by a truck and was sent flying into the air! It felt like the wind in his lungs was squeezed out and for a moment his vision blurred!
Bam!
Damon hit the ground and rolled a couple of times before stopping. He remained on the ground unmoving while blood rolled down his lips.
“Hmph! Is this the strength of someone who came across a three-tailed fox spirit and survived? I am not impressed!” Jean said disdainfully before turning and walking away.
Everyone was stunned too. With Damon’s achievements, even though they weren’t expecting him to win, they weren’t expecting him to lose this easily too!
“For a moment there I hesitated, I thought I was fighting a girl so I held back but I guess I was wrong. I’m going against a beast, holding back is a grievous sin but you don’t have to worry, I won’t make the same mistake again” Damon said disdainfully as he slowly rose to his feet with a cold look on his face.
Jean watched him slowly stand. Damon’s movements were extremely slow but every move he made carried incredible weight and power. When his face became visible they were met with his fiery purple eyes and bloodied fangs revealed by his crazed grin!
Even Jean couldn’t help but feel intimidated.
Bang!
Damon suddenly lunged forward but Jean reacted fast as well! This time she clenched her fists and punched forward without hesitation. Hidden within the petite body was a mighty force that came down with her punch but Damon reacted accordingly by sidestepping before swinging his claw forward!
Puff!
Blood squirted out as Jean fell to her knees while covering her belly with her hands. Blood poured out from the deep claw wound and her face turned ridiculously pale. Her eyes were still open with disbelief and her body trembling.
The Hails were alerted we well we they quickly so why forward and prevented Damon from throwing a finishing blow!
Damon stood with his raised claw held back by Tristain while Dennis stood between him and Jean. Their gaze was cold as they felt the killing intentions raging from Damon and they wondered why he was this agitated.
“You are a werewolf and not a man, you use your claws to deliver deadly strikes not your fist… never leave your center exposed or swing the full length, always give space for retreat when swinging!… Now, if you guys have any plans of seeing me survive this war, fighting an inexperienced girl won’t do, u need to learn how to lead an army” Damon said with sparkling eyes!
Unlike the rest, he already knew what he wanted and needed to survive this situation! Individual strength didn’t matter now.
