PARAGON OF DEATH - Chapter 74
74 Chapter 73: A practical class on warfare
Damon made his way back to the residence purchased for him and Tristan while they still had work to do in the capital. During this time he couldn’t help but think of Gin who was probably locked indoors, trying to deal with the magic weapon enchantment orders the kingdom needs. He found it sad that Gin would have to handle everything on his own.
Meanwhile, after going through the pouch he realized what was in there was no small amount. A little over fifty gold but not up to a hundred. This will probably be more than enough for his time here in the capital but it wasn’t enough for what he wanted to get his hands on.
A real Grimoire!
The actual Grimoire not only reduces the cast speed of spells but the casting power as well. Getting something like that would make him capable of using his magic easily. His eyes lingered on the gold in his hands for a short while before he decided to ignore the crazy thoughts in his mind. This gold may not even be enough to purchase the Grimoire if he decided to get his hands on it.
“Fuck it, I will just focus on the task at hand. When the time comes I will have to trouble the Hails with this small request” Damon muttered in his head as he stood up and left the building.
Strangely while he was leaving their home, Tristan didn’t say a word. He just shot Damon a cold glance and then ignored him. The moment Damon left the room he could tell that Tristan was watching.
Tristan was probably following him!
“Everyone on this list is fairly strong… it won’t be as easy as it seems but this is the capital. Who sleeps this early?” Damon said as he pulled out a file and began going through it.
The target was a vampire named Tank. He is at the peak of the human realm but his role was completely different.
…..
From the information gathered he was the one meant to keep an eye on Javier. During the day, he would hang around the bar and act as a watchdog for Javier. Luckily he leaves early during the evening and resumes the next morning.
It was a cycle that has never been broken and his real duty remained unknown.
In fact, in this report, the Hail’s simply speculated he served as a watchdog. Should anything go wrong with Javier he is the person meant to alert the others in the capital.
Thud!
Damon landed on a building not too far from the target’s home. Unlike Javier, this one has been quite clumsy and this is probably one of the reasons Javier died. While Javier has extraordinary control over his hunger for blood, the rest were not the same.
“Following Tank every day to find out his routine wasn’t difficult since he does everything the same way and at the same time. By 6 pm he leaves the bar and heads back to the Forbidden palace of the capital…. The house filled with sex workers and fox spirits, seducing men” Tristan’s voice emerged from behind as his body emerged from the shadows.
He had long black hair combed back neatly and the sides cut short, giving him an intimidating look.
His eyes were bright yellow and his voice was deep and firm. He wore a sleeveless black top and baggy grey shorts. Even though Damon knew he was being followed he couldn’t help but mentally nod at Tristan. If Duke Hail was like a sheathed blade that no one could see through, Tristan was like a wild cat shrouded in an extremely dangerous aura. His eyes were the same when he gazed at family and enemies.
“You are trying to say both fox spirits and vampires meet at this place, every single night? Together?” Damon was momentarily stunned. He didn’t expect to get such information on something this important.
“More or less… I won’t say together though. They are aware of each other’s existence but avoid each other while having fun” Tristan said.
“Vampires are extremely handsome and have a charm spell on them which makes it easy to attract any woman. The same applies to a female vampire. After investigating these people in silence for a long while, it wasn’t too difficult for me to come up with this conclusion…” Tristan said calmly.
Hearing this, Damon couldn’t help but look at the forbidden palace in the distance. A particular area in the kingdom where one can let out his or her crazy desires until there is nothing left.
A perfect hiding spot for supernatural beings with a strong desire for lust.
Damon frowned as he pondered for a while and his eyes squinted upon realization. His eyes were pinned on Tristan and with a questioning nod he spoke up.
“It has never been a part of your plan for me to beat all of them alone, right?” Damon suddenly asked.
Since this is a gathering point there are probably more powerful foes like the three-tailed fox spirit he met in the past and more. Since this is the capital, it’s not too shocking to Damon that there may be more powerful foes over the warrior realm hiding in there.
If he enters that place he may end up dying without even knowing how it happened. He refused to believe the Hail family would send him in there alone.
“Having you go after Tank as your next target was for a reason. It was meant to lead you here and have you understand more about what is about to happen.
“How can I understand something I know nothing of?” Damon replied with a frown.
“You wanted to learn warfare, so I stayed back to teach you about it. Mind you this will be a practical class” Tristan said as he walked past Damon and looked in the direction of the forbidden palace.
Damon stood rooted to the spot as he watched soldiers carrying the Hail family banner appear from within the shadows. Each of these men was at least at an esteemed human level and a few were at the peak of the human realm.
Each team was made up of about a hundred soldiers with a warrior realm hundred-man commander. Soon the entire area was surrounded by a small force of about one thousand at most.
“One thousand soldiers of the Gyro Kingdom. That’s what it took to surround this entire area. That way we will make sure that no one leaves” Tristan said, catching Damon’s attention once again.
“That is not a small army” Damon said with a frown. He didn’t think the Hail family would take this enemy so seriously!
They were truly serious about putting an end to the blood clan!
“You don’t seem surprised by this?” Tristan noticed Damon was still strangely calm even after everything so he couldn’t help but ask a few questions.
“It will take a lot more than this to move me. By the way, the enemy is someone who visits the pub owned by Javier…. If he arrives tomorrow and realizes that there is no one there, the vampires will get wary and everyone will go into hiding… the best time to deal with this issue is tonight. When I realized he would be spending the night here, I had two conclusions. If you do nothing, that means my only chance will be tomorrow morning when he realized Javier is dead. I will have no choice but to kill him before he spreads the news” Damon said calmly.
“And the second possible reason?” Tristan seemed intrigued and asked. He wishes to learn more about what was going through Damon’s mind.
“The second is you plan to act tonight and wipe them all out before things get out of hand. I anticipated you would get involved but I didn’t think you will bring an army with you” Damon answered honestly.
“Oh… You weren’t stunned not because you knew this would happen. It’s just that a thousand men is not enough to move you… Impressive” Tristan said with a rare smile on his face.
His face soon turned and focused on the mighty forbidden palace which was built in a grand manner.
“This was won’t be as easy as it seems. With so many humans gathered within this area, all carrying evil intentions in their hearts, it’s safe to say the enemy already knows we are here” Tristan said as he watched people’s energy from the high forbidden palace. Their gaze swept down the thousand stairs needed to reach the main building and down to the army position at all corners of the building.
Slowly more people began to emerge, all with blood-red eyes and terribly pale skin. Some even had blood all over their lips
Vampires!
It didn’t take long before normal looking men and ladies began to appear. Anyone would be unable to see through these normal looking people but Damon and Tristan could sniff them out from a mile away!
“Fox spirits” Tristan squinted his nose in disdain while gazing at them.
This young member of the Hall family who was barely thirty years old wasn’t sure what he hated the most.
Vampires or Fox spirits.
