Part Wolf - Chapter 120 Chapter 119
Unlike Agatha, who looked like she was having the time of her life, leaning against Legolas’s chest in a drunk state, Elize was feeling bored and empty. Zack still hadn’t arrived and she was getting restless. She looked down at her empty plate and sighed. Maybe more cheesecake would make it better, she thought to herself.
“Does anyone want more cheesecake?” She asked, turning to her friends.
“We’re good,” Legolas replied with a shrug.
“Get two for us when you come,” Nina said, pointing to herself and Irina.
“Cool,” Elize replied, sounding bored.
Just as she was getting up from her seat, something splashed onto her face. Elize gasped in surprise, dropping her plate in shock. She had been too distracted to notice her arrival or even to dodge the attack. The china fell and shattered into pieces. The smell of red wine filled the air. She cursed as the sweet liquid dripped down her face onto her dress, ruining the delicate piece. She looked up in frustration, spotting an angry elf standing in front of her with an empty glass in her hand. Her first instinct was to growl, but she held back, seeing that suddenly so many eyes were on them. She remembered that tonight was an opportunity to redeem her image- or rather build a new one. She couldn’t allow her temper to get the better of her. She took a deep breath as Nina had asked her to, whenever she felt angry.
“You murderer! You stink of blood!” Aerin shouted, throwing the glass down in a fit of anger.
“It is wine, you idiot.” Elize murmured under her breath.
“Didn’t you hear me?!” She shouted, stepping forward, standing on the broken shards- way too close than the comfortable level.
“Aerin! What do you think you’re doing?!” Legolas asked, coming to stand next to her.
He grabbed his sister’s hand in anger, tightening his grip on her till she grunted in pain. Aerin looked at her brother in utter disbelief. Shaking his hand off from her, she pointed at Elize.
“What is wrong with you Legolas?! How can you side with a murderer?” She asked, keeping her eyes on her brother.
Elize raised her brows in amusement. The girl seemed to have been waiting for the opportunity. Seeing how every guest’s eyes were now trained on them, she doubted that it was planned. Her eyes scanned the crowd, spotting Eun Ae stand on top of the stairs with a smug look on her face. She scoffed, looking back and forth the half fox and the she-elf. Of course! It had to be her. She thought, shaking her head. Nevertheless, maybe they had done a good thing by doing so. This was quite a good opportunity to clear her name once and for all.
“Murderer?” Elize asked with a smirk, looking right into Aerin’s eyes.
“Yes, you heard me right,” Aerin said narrowing her eyes. “I was there. I saw you covered in the boy’s blood. Don’t act innocent.”
“Aerin don’t,” Legolas warned, his hands forming into fists.
Elize patted Legolas on his shoulder, giving him a reassuring look.
He nodded and stepped back.
“Sure, I killed someone. What of it?” She asked, tying her hand on her chest.
Aerin’s face twisted into an expression of disgust.
“Legolas? What’s happening?” Agatha asked, coming up to stand next to him. She looked disconcerted.
“It’s okay Agatha.” Legolas ensured her, patting her head.
“You’re shameless.” The she-elf spat, glaring at Elize.
Elize chuckled.
“You’re right I am. Let me add to that- I’m also quite ruthless.” She said with a dangerous glint in her eyes. Aerin stepped back, fear flashing in her eyes.
Elize raised her voice, glancing over the crowd, “As you all might have heard, I killed someone- a human to be exact.” She said with a blank look on her face.
The room suddenly fell silent.
“Elize..” Agatha called, reaching out to grab her arm. She had a concerned look on her face.
Elize smiled at her friend. “It’s okay Agatha. I can do this.” She said, patting the back of the witch’s palm.
Agatha reluctantly withdrew her hand, looking nervously at the crowd.
“You’re so cold-blooded that you’re even boasting about it now?” Aerin asked, scoffing at her.
“Not really. I just admitted the truth.” Elize said with a shrug. Leaning forward to the she-elf, she whispered, “You see, my wolf seems to be quite on the edge since the time I shifted. I don’t know what it will do to you if you keep provoking me like that.”
“You wouldn’t,” Aerin said, her eyes widening in alarm at the threat.
Elize smiled in satisfaction as she heard, the rising heartbeat of the girl. “I would, but then again, my wolf will be the more eager one to bite into your pale flesh.” She whispered into the she-elf’s ears.
Seeing that she had the girl well under control, Elize turned to the guests, who had started to murmur amongst themselves. This was her moment of redemption, she thought to herself.
Mustering up her courage, she said, raising her voice, “Everyone, thank you for coming to my birthday party tonight. I’m so happy that you’re all here. As you all know, something horrible happened to me during my shift, and I made a terrible mistake.” She paused, sighing sadly. Putting on a tight smile, she continued, “Tonight, I’d like to turn over a new leaf in my life. I want to move on from the past and become a better, stronger wolf. And I hope you all will help me reach that goal.”
Murmurs rose once again, with people nodding and shaking their heads. She could hear people agreeing with her.
“Please forgive me.” She said, slightly bowing in front of the crowd.
The added sincerity was clearly working for the better. She sighed in relief, looking at the Kelpie. Lloyd raised his hand with a thumbs-up sign, a huge smile plastered on his face.
“Bullshit! Don’t listen to her nonsense!” Aerin shouted, looking at the guests desperately, like a madwoman.
“Mutus.” Agatha quickly whispered, raising her hand.
In the next second Aerin suddenly was without any voice, waving her hand angrily at the people around her. Many looked at her as if she was crazy, whilst some girls from her witchcraft class looked at Agatha and chuckled. Agatha winked back mischievously at them. Elize laughed, her gaze, moving towards who she guessed was the brains behind the whole event. Eun Ae glared at her with hostility and walked away grinding her teeth.
“Thank you. I thought I’d have to rip her throat out.” Elize said, turning back to Agatha.
“What?” Agatha asked warily.
“Kidding! Haha!” Elize said, laughing at the shocked expression on her friend’s face.
But only Elize knew, how close she was to lose control. If Agatha hadn’t stepped up, she would have done something that would have ruined the whole plan, she thought to herself. That was when she noticed it- the scent of forest and honey. Her head whipped towards the direction. Zack was walking towards her with a proud look on his face. Her heart leaped in joy as she watched him walk towards her, holding her eyes captivated in his magnetic gaze. She suddenly felt like howling in joy, but she settled for laughing in its place. She stood there spellbound, looking at the man that she yearned for with every inch of her mind and body. He stopped, coming to stand right in front of her.
“Come here, you’re soaking wet,” Zack said, removing his jacket. He quickly wrapped it around her, holding her close to his chest.
“Zack..” Elize called, her breath getting hitched.
“Belated happy birthday, baby.” He said with a magnetic smile, bending down to place a kiss on her lips.
