Pastry Chef Sheya - Volume 1 Chapter 8 Blushing Hummingbird
A month later, business was booming, more and more people were coming and the only way left to go was up. Sheya knew that she needs to hire more people so she asked around and posted some ads for those interested to work on SheyButter Cafe.
That day, she wanted to do something that would give an ambiance of spring.
” Spring means new beginning, I like to have bright colors with subtle flavours, like a hummingbird whispering to a flower asking for nectarines.” Sheya thought while preparing her equipments.
She took some peaches, kiwi, strawberry
and used these as fresh toppings on top of the green tea cake with honey. It looked so vibrant and the taste easily transported her back in New Zealand when she was working was there.
Sheya finally came out of her sanctuary, her kitchen late that afternoon. She decided to walk outside to breathe some fresh air and get some foods to eat other than her own creations.
A handsome young guy was standing nearby. He caught Sheya looking at him and he gave her a smile. She blushed and continued walking.
Half an hour later, she came back to the cafeteria and once again, she saw that guy who smiled at her. He stood up and walked towards her direction. Blushing once again, Sheya asked him if there is anything she could do for him. ” Shey! Its me Henson. Don’t you remember me?” the guy asked with a grin on his face.
Henson is the younger brother of one of Sheya’s childhood friend. The last time she saw him, he was a bald, fat kid with some missing teeth.
Sheya: OMG! I did not recognise you. You looked so different!
Henson: I know right! That’s why I smiled at you outside because I remember you the moment I saw you but you snubbed me.
Sheya: I didn’t know it was you. What are you doing here? Would you like something to eat? I wont charge you anything. It’s on me.
Henson: My sister told me to go here. She said you are looking for someone to help you run your cafe. I did some part time job as a barista last summer. I would like to work here if that’s okay with you.
Sheya: Are you sure? I thought you were about to graduate in College? How can you work and attend the University at the same time?
Henson: Eeerrr.. I dropped out. I dont want to be a chemist anymore. I want to be a DJ! My dad was furious so I moved out. Im doing some gig now but its not a regular thing. Sometimes I don’t have one for the whole week. I assure you, gigs or no gigs, I will be here on time and do my job properly.
Sheya: If you think you can do the job well.. then welcome aboard mate! Come, let me introduce you to Mark and Karen then I will show you everything you need to know so you can find your groove and start as soon as I finished training you.
