Path Of The Lilies - Chapter 348 Familiarizing with the Movemen
“I think?”
Some people began to talk among themselves when they heard what Lu Wan said. After all, it was not weird that some of them have some other occupations aside from the norm.
As for Lu Wan, he was not bothered in the slightest bit.
In the crowd at the back, Wei Cheng’s heart sank when he heard Lu Wan’s choice of weapon. He thought that Lu Wan would choose a sword, which he remembered was extremely bad. However, it turned out that the young man directly picked a completely different weapon.
‘Did it mean, he’s not even in his best condition when he defeats me?’
Wei Cheng could feel his face heat up in anger. He thought that Lu Wan already did his best when he lost.
Unfortunately, it turned out that he was not even serious.
His pride… was shattered.
He was not the only one who was looking at Lu Wan with wariness. Cao Ren and Chen Zi Quan were also wary. They still remembered how the young boy fought against them in the past. It was truly not a good feeling to know that Lu Wan was not giving his all at that time.
“Next.” Qin Zheng already met with a lot of people who used these weapons, so he didn’t find it weird.
“I use a fan,” Han Fu giggled. He took out his fan and fanned his face lightly, acting truly similar to that of a young lady.
“…”
A lot of people wished to throw up when they saw that scene. They had seen him as a domineering youngster. Combining his powerful image with this one would only make them feel nauseated.
Ye Jiao smiled wryly. “I use a dagger.”
Dagger?
Wei Cheng’s eyes narrowed dangerously. He had the suspicion that Ye Jiao must be the assassin who attacked him before. Knowing that the young girl’s weapon was also a dagger, he came to the conclusion that it must be true.
“Ok,” Qin Zheng nodded. He waved his hand as a stack of books appeared in front of them all. “These are all basic manuals of your weapons. Pick one according to the weapon that you have selected. You have an hour to comprehend and showcase them in front of the elders.”
An Hour?
Are you insane?
A lot of people were looking at Qin Zheng incredulously, but the young man didn’t budge at all. He just stood calmly with both of his hands behind his back, acting as if he was a revered young man of high status.
Ye Jiao’s lips twitched when she heard his instructions. He was even harsher than her master. How in the world would they be able to study the martial art books if they were just given an hour time? It wouldn’t be enough.
“T-that’s too short!”
“Those who complain will have to finish in half an hour,” Qin Zheng smiled brightly yet there was no mirth in his eyes. “You may begin now.”
“Here’s yours,” Qin Zheng passed a book to Ye Jiao when she passed by him.
Ye Jiao’s eyes widened. She looked at Qin Zheng with a frown, but the young man just smiled lightly. There was no apparent emotion in his eyes, making it difficult to guess what this young man was thinking.
“Thank you.”
“You’re welcome.”
Looking at the young man’s back, Ye Jiao realized that he only gave hers and not the others. They all have to struggle to find the correct books because there were too many people who crowded the area.
“Eh? You have found yours?” Han Fu was stunned to see the book in Ye Jiao’s hand.
“Yeah.”
“Damn! You’re so lucky! I’ll surely find mine!”
“Good luck.”
Ye Jiao nearly laughed when she saw Han Fu threw himself at the crowd just to find his book. She swiftly moved to the side and began reading.
There were only five basic movements in the book; draw, defend, counter, attack, and close or sheathe it back. The premise of the book was to utilize the weapon when it was either placed on her side, meaning that it must have its own place. Also, it was all done with the correct amount of Eon Energy to make sure there was no waste of energy.
‘Move here, flow a bit…’
Closing her eyes, Ye Jiao began to imagine the instruction from the book. It was not totally clear, but it was slowly forming into a proper move. A dagger was shorter than a sword, so it was a weapon that was usually used for close range.
Trip! Bruk!
“Akh! What’s with this annoying move!”
Several people started to complain. Even though the movements in the books were simple as it was just the basics, the transition from one to another was not easy. They have to make sure that they positioned themselves well because if not, they would surely trip over themselves and make fun of themselves.
“Rather than looking at them, you should focus on studying yours, Lu Wan,” Qi Huan commented.
“I can say the same to you.”
Qi Huan played with his sword on his hand. He smiled. “Do you really think that?”
In the next moment, he made a swift turn as his sword was thrusted to the front. As he retracted them back, he twisted his body to change the direction and put the sword on top of his head as if he was blocking against something.
The movements were done in a split second and flew smoothly. It was as if he was already familiar with those movements.
Lu Wan’s jaw dropped. “Y-you cheater!”
“I have gotten used to playing with a sword all day, so this is nothing new,” Qi Huan replied calmly. For him, the sword was part of his body, so no matter what, he would be able to do the movements correctly.
“You say that, but not everyone can move as easy as you,” Lu Wan frowned.
“Why don’t you take out your weapon?”
“Cause she didn’t.”
“Huh?”
Looking at the direction where Lu Wan pointed at, Qi Huan could see Ye Jiao standing with her eyes closed. It didn’t seem like she had any intention to draw her dagger at all as she just stood there quietly.
“Ye Jiao?”
It was at this time that Qin Zheng walked out again. He looked at them with a smile. “There are 10 minutes left. Here’s the wooden weapon that you all have to use during the examination.”
“…” wooden?
Right now, every single one of them wished to kill this young man. They had gotten used to using a metal weapon because wooden weapons were only used during the time when they first touched their weapon. The difference in material alone would be enough to create a significant difference in their use of Eon Energy.
How in the world would they pass the test like this?
Lu Wan felt like crying. “How do you expect me to move a wooden chain?”
“Well, best of luck to you.”
One of the people picked up the sword and tried to use his Eon Energy. In the next second, he could see a crack was formed in the body of the sword. His heart dropped.
“This… this couldn’t be a sword, right?”
“IT IS a sword,” Qin Zheng replied uncaringly. “However, they’re all specially tailored for this examination. If you give too much Eon Energy, they’ll start to break down, so you have to make sure that you don’t overdo yourself.”
“…” go to hell!
Lu Wan looked at the wooden chain and blade on his arm as he felt a headache coming. He tried to move them without Eon Energy as he could sense that they were far lighter compared to the one he usually used. He just needed to get used to this.
Qin Zheng placed the weapons on the ground except for those who had a special weapon. He directly handed them one by one, including Ye Jiao.
“You seem to have guessed that you won’t be using your dagger,” Qin Zheng commented.
Ye Jiao lifted up her head and picked up the dagger. “Not really. I just made a guess because the movements didn’t suit my dagger.”
“Didn’t suit?”
“Yes.”
“You should try to get used to your new weapon. It’s very fragile.”
As soon as Qin Zheng turned around, they could hear a scream of a young man. He had broken his sword accidentally, so he was panicking.
Ye Jiao grabbed the dagger in her hand tighter. Her eyes were closed as she recalled the movements once more. Slowly, her body moved as if drawing the dagger and positioned it in front of her body.
Swish!
Swinging it lightly, she turned her body around. There was as if invisible enemies were standing in front of her, attacking her with the same movements as her. Twisting her body, she trusted her dagger and turned it around.
“Beautiful movements.”
The sudden voice caused the youngsters to stop moving.
