Path Of The Lilies - Chapter 354 Selecting an Academy 1
“Ye Jiao, how are you feeling?”
The familiar voice in her ear caused her mind to be clear-headed again. Looking at her surroundings, Ye Jiao realized that she had returned back to the place where everything started in the beginning. There were a lot of people watching in the city, and the number of the elders seemed to increase as well.
“Qi Huan? Han Fu?” Ye Jiao tilted her head as she looked at them.
“Eh? You’re already fine?” Han Fu’s eyes widened. “Damn! Here I thought there’s a chance to see your embarrassing moment!”
“What?”
Qi Huan shook his head lightly. “You see, when you come out of that place, you’ll feel a bit of confusion in your head because that place is affecting your mental state. This brat over here is yelling so loudly.”
“I didn’t! You’re the one who looks like a different person because you keep on uttering nonsense.”
Ye Jiao blinked her eyes. “Confusion? I think I did feel them a bit.”
“Just a bit, huh?” Qin Zheng crouched in front of her as she was sitting down on the ground. He lightly touched her forehead. “It looks like you have been through something difficult. Good work.”
“Thanks.”
Somehow, Ye Jiao felt a bit warm and comfortable. She could sense slight Eon Energy pouring from the young man’s palm. It was helping her to regain her clear head back. After all, she could sense that if she was there any longer, she might not be able to get out safely anymore.
“That’s our job, you brat!” Elder Yi complained.
Qin Zheng looked back at the elder. “You’re too slow.”
“You stinky brat!”
“Calm down a bit.” Elder Qian sighed. “Zheng, you can return back first. I’m sure the youngsters are not too happy when they see you.”
“Alright,” Qin Zheng stood up. “I’ll come back when it’s already time to return to the academy.”
Ye Jiao scratched her head and stood up. She still could feel that her body was treating this place like a battlefield. It was tense and hard. Even though she has always been vigilant all the time, she felt that her sense was sharper at this time.
“Anyway, I’m the first one to come out.” Han Fu grinned like a fool. “That means, I’m the greatest here!”
Qi Huan sighed. “Don’t mind him. He’s still getting affected by his role as a young prince that’s very pampered.”
“I’m not pampered!”
“Ah, you got sent to a different place?” Ye Jiao’s interest piqued up. She still remembered that she got sent into a battlefield and got a bit too comfortable there. Even though it was a place filled with danger, she felt as if it was truly her place.
Qi Huan nodded. “I arrive as a young city’s lord in a city that’s attacked by the beast’s tide. They’re all trying to attack us, so I have to rally the soldiers to make sure that they fight because we’re at a disadvantage.”
“I see,” Ye Jiao tilted her head. “I was sent as a soldier at the frontline. And….”
She looked at her arm and noticed that the dagger she wielded was brought back with her. It was supposed to be a normal dagger, a different one from the one she used to use because hers was a curved one. This dagger was a double edge and looked pretty similar to a short sword.
“You bring it back?” Qi Huan was astonished. He took out a sword from his storage bracelet. “I’m the same. I also bring this back.”
Ye Jiao looked at that ordinary sword before looking back at the elders. It was nothing special and just a sword and dagger that was made of metal. However, she wanted to keep it because the memory of her time in her first battlefield was so vivid. Even if it was nothing more than an illusion, she wished to have this dagger with her. “Is it fine to keep it?”
“Yes,” Elder Xin nodded. “You’re sent into the multiverse worlds in a treasure. Those weapons you bring are not that powerful, so you can keep them.”
“Wait, but I didn’t bring anything!”
“That’s your problem.” Qi Huan smirked.
Bam!
“Uhhhh, what’s the report for the causalities? We need to reinforce….” Cao Ren was dumbfounded when he noticed that he had returned back. “This, what’s this? Hey, can someone tell me what’s going on? I am… I was…”
“Elder Yi.”
“Ok.”
Ye Jiao watched as Elder Yi poured Eon Energy to Cao Ren’s forehead. She was astonished and looked over to the others.
“Is that…?”
“Each of us is like that.” Han Fu shrugged. “It’s weirder that you’re the one who didn’t get any effect at all?”
“I guess I’m the quiet type.” Ye Jiao grinned.
Qi Huan patted the girl’s back. “You need to get used to it. It’s good training to get out of the Illusion Array because you’ll have to see many things inside that place.”
“Ah, you’re right.”
Afterwards, Gao Yun also came out. Just like Ye Jiao, he just stared blankly on the sky and didn’t have much reaction. The elders came to help him out soon afterwards. They didn’t seem to be surprised to see Gao Yun’s condition.
“Seventh place is Chen Zi Quan, and 11th place is me.” Lu Wan’s face darkened. “Why did I get out so late? How come you are so fast?”
Qi Huan shrugged. “I bet you didn’t use your brain at all.”
“I use it!”
“What’s the world you’re being sent to?”
“I’m sent as a young master in the middle of the forest and have to get out safely.”
“Did you just fight your way out?”
“What else do you think I should do?”
“…” yep, no brain.
Lu Wan felt that their expression was even more insulting than their statements. He sighed and sat down on the ground. Even though only a few hours have passed in the real world, it was nearly a week for him in that world.
“It was a bit scary, though. I thought that I would never be able to find my way out at all,” Lu Wan extended his hand and plopped to the ground. “I guess it just means that I need to work on my abilities even more.”
Those who spent too much time inside would see them as their reality. It would be hard for them to adapt that everything they experienced and everyone they met was nothing more than an illusion. Because it all felt so real.
Elder Qian stopped before Lu Wan. He smiled slightly as the boy felt warm wind around him. It was so comfortable.
“There are things that you see as real when it’s actually not. This is just the training for you, young man.”
“Elder…” Lu Wan raised his head. “Thank you.”
“It’s nothing much. You’ll slowly get used to the difference in the world.”
As Elder Qian returned back to his place, Ye Jiao looked at the middle-aged man’s back. It looked like the back of someone who had been fighting a lot and experienced the harsh reality of the world. Yeah, someone who has reached that age must have known that the world would be different than an illusion.
At times, it would be easier to accept the nonexistent thing as the reality instead.
Those who had finished the test waited patiently for the other youngsters to come out. When it was already 10 hours, the elders forcefully pulled out everyone from their test because it was the time limit.
“Why are 10 hours the limit?”
“That’s because you’re just Eon Energy Master Rank 3 and at the age range between teenagers to young adults,” Qi Huan explained. “Your body and mind are still developing, and having to face two realities at the same time is not easy.”
“So, 10 hours is the maximum?”
“Yes.”
“Technically, it’s the maximum safe time with this treasure. But if you have a better one that can stabilize your mind and body perfectly, you might be able to last longer inside and still be safe.”
Elder Cai put away the treasure again. It was nothing more than a ring on her finger. “This is an Eon Energy Treasure that can allow you to train in a completely different world. Even though it’s not the real world, everything you experience there can be beneficial to your body because it’ll strengthen your body. The longer you stay there, the more benefit it is for you.”
“Wait, so we shouldn’t have finished so early?”
“But of course, the recovery time is longer. Each day passed there meant that your mind is affected for 10 days, so you might find it hard to practice for the next three months,” Elder Cai shrugged.
“…” tell us sooner, please.
