Path Of The Lilies - Chapter 356 Selecting an Academy 3
“Really?” Qi Huan arched his eyebrows. “I’m sure that you’re just picking because they pick you as a Core Disciple. Why don’t you want to be in Gu Academy? It’s located in the forest where there’s a lot of herbs’ resources.”
Lu Wan shrugged. “I know that, but it’s not interesting. Besides, I don’t think I can stand his pressure.”
Ye Jiao lifted her head to take a look at that particular person whom Lu Wan pointed at. He was dressed in a purple robe with natural disposition as the leader with the word ‘authority’ emanating from him. Even though he just stayed there and accepted the disciple’s scroll one by one, his calm was giving off the pressure. At the same time, the youngsters didn’t dare to look at him directly as they would feel petrified if they looked at him directly.
As if sensing her gaze, he lifted his head and looked in her direction. His dark iris seemed to be able to see through her, so Ye Jiao quickly moved her eyes away. She didn’t know why, but she could sense the pressure coming from him. He was not even trying to intimidate her or anything, which meant that it was his natural disposition.
That was a bit scary.
“See, he’s a bit overwhelming.”
“Fine.” Qi Huan took one of the scrolls. “Let’s head into the elder representative we pick together.”
“Ok.”
The three of them have already had an academy in mind, so they already discarded the other scrolls. As they moved, they realized that the line for the academy they chose was empty with only a handful of them having already picked it.
“So, which one do you pick?”
“Hua Shan.”
Nearly the three of them said at the same time. They looked at one another before bursting in laughter. Even though they have spoken so much about the academy that existed there, they only have one academy in their mind.
The elders were naturally able to hear their words with their high rank. Beside Elder Qian, Elder Xin smirked and looked over to his friend. “It seems that you have secured a great disciple.”
“I must thank you for not giving her a better offer.”
“Nah, I believe that I have already given her the best offer.” Elder Xin’s eyes shone with interest. “It seems that she has made up her mind. I’m sure that you won’t be able to put her as the one with most resources because you already have those two.”
Elder Qian turned his head in a hurry. “You mean, you want to pick her as the future successor of your academy?”
“Why not?”
That enchanting smile seemed to tell Elder Qian everything he needed to know. The woman before him was very brave as to offer that young girl the position that many people covet. It was a position with the highest authority among the youngsters.
“You have your own disciple, right?”
“You’re very daring, Elder Xin.”
“Many thanks for your compliment.”
As they spoke, the three of them have arrive before Elder Qian. Qi Huan was the one at the front as he handed the scroll back.
“I wish to accept the offer, Elder.”
“Very well.” Elder Qian took the scroll and imbued it with his Eon Energy. He returned it back to Qi Huan. “Please sign it.”
Qi Huan bit his thumb and used his blood to sign it. As soon as he had done so, he could feel a strange power flow within his body and form a connection with his mind. It was strange yet comforting at the same time.
“This is your disciple token.”
The token that Qi Huan got was a small jade token with a mountain picture in the middle of it. There was a flowery design around the mountain, which must be the symbol of their academy. (Hua = flower)
“Black color?” Lu Wan was stunned when he noticed the color.
Qi Huan smirked. “Yep, Elite Disciple token.”
“!!!”
Right now, Lu Wan truly wished to shred this young man into pieces. Even though he had heard that those who received the black gold token during the examination might be able to become Elite Disciple, he didn’t wish to see Qi Huan in that group. Come on, how come this annoying man became Elite Disciple?
“You know each other?” Elder Qian probed.
Lu Wan nodded as he handed the scroll in his hand. “Yeah, we teamed up once because of competition in the Four Kingdoms.”
“I see. Sign this up.”
“Ok.”
After Lu Wan took his token, which was gold in color, it was Ye Jiao’s turn. She could faintly see the light in Elder Qian’s eyes seem to turn bright for a split second. Apparently, he was pretty excited to have her as a Hua Shan Academy disciple. It was just, she felt that something was off from her decision.
“Here, sign this.”
“ok.”
Ye Jiao felt something strange the moment she finished signing. She noticed that Elder Xin was looking at the scroll in her hand with curiosity.
“Is there anything I can help, Elder?”
“I wonder what kind of offer he gives to make you accept that academy.”
“That.” Ye Jiao scratched her head. Her left hand was still holding onto the black token she had just received. The one word that attracted her the most from Hua Shan Academy offer was ‘freedom.’ He would allow her to not follow some of the rules in the academy as the Elite Disciple. As she preferred to have her own path, she truly liked the offer they gave her, so she chose this academy.
“That’s not your business, Elder Xin. Besides, you already got him.”
Him this time meant Gao Yun. Somehow, that young man decided to pick Huang Mo Academy as soon as he finished reading the scroll. It was as if he didn’t have any intention to pick any other academy.
“Tsk. There’s nothing wrong with wanting more.”
“You greedy old wo…”
Elder Xin’s eyes were cold as she stared at the middle-aged man before her. Her lips were curled up into a smile. “I dare you to finish that sentence.”
Behind them, Ye Jiao and the two others were trying their best to not laugh. The largest taboo to mention in front of a woman was their age. If this Elder Qian wished to irk Elder Xin, he had successfully done so by angering her.
“Forget I say anything.”
“Good.”
Soon afterwards, everyone has finished picking the academy they wanted. Han Fu and Cao Ren picked Gu Academy, Gao Yun picked Huang Mo Academy, while Chen Zi Quan and Wei Ying picked Shui Dao Academy. Some other youngsters didn’t pick from the five biggest academies and chose to return back. After all, if the offer was too small, they would rather pick the middle size academy rather than the big one.
