Path Of The Lilies - Chapter 384 Mu Family Background
Ye Jiao shook her head. “No, I just want to visit Xin Jie.”
“Xin Jie? I didn’t know you have a sister,” Qin Zheng recalled his investigation of Ye Jiao’s background. From what he knew, Ye Jiao is the only child with no one else.
“She’s my sworn sister.”
“Oh?”
“Don’t you have a sworn brother too?” Ye Jiao tilted her head.
Qin Zheng smiled, but didn’t answer.
Ye Jiao scowled. “You just don’t want to tell me, do you?”
“Yeah,” Qin Zheng raised his hand, intending to mess up Ye Jiao’s hair. Unfortunately, he was unable to do so as Ye Jiao evaded quickly.
Ye Jiao stuck out her tongue. “You won’t be able to do it, Shorty.”
“I dare you to say it again.”
“Shorty! Shorty!”
With that, Ye Jiao ended up running towards the Inner Disciple quarter with Qin Zheng behind her. They didn’t use Eon Energy because they didn’t recover completely yet, so they just looked like two children running in the corridor.
From behind, Bai Xiang carefully distanced himself from the two of them. A lot of other students were giving them some looks as it was uncommon to see younger disciples in that area. Most of them were already teenagers or even young adults. Even the youngest in Inner Disciple areas was 16 years old.
“Excuse me, do you know new students named Mu Xin?” Ye Jiao didn’t know where Mu Xin stayed, so she had to rely on asking for directions.
The student was stunned. He nodded his head. “Yes, she should be in the arena.”
“Alright, thank you.”
After Ye Jiao left, the student turned his head to his friends. “Does Mu Xin have a close friend with someone from Core Disciple?”
“It’s an Elite Disciple robe, not a Core Disciple.”
“Wow,” his friend gasped in surprise. “Well, those seniors are going to court death.”
“Just ignore them.”
“Yep.”
“Who would have thought that the cold Mu Xin has a connection with Elite Disciple?”
Qin Zheng could hear their voice clearly, but he didn’t say anything and just took Ye Jiao to the arena. The young girl’s eyes were also solemn as she could guess that there must be something wrong.
“We are here.”
They entered the arena. The entire place was crowded because the number of Inner Disciples reached thousands. Everyday, there would be a lot of students who wanted to use the arena.
Ye Jiao’s eyes scanned the place before it landed on the arena at the corner. She could see Mu Xin standing with her left arm bleeding. Her gaze was piercing cold as she wielded her sword towards her opponent. Several seniors were looking at her while laughing and jeering.
“Xin…”
Qin Zheng held Ye Jiao’s arm before she could rush towards the arena. “This is a formal match, you can’t stop it.”
“But…!”
“Trust your sister.”
Ye Jiao looked at Qin Zheng’s gaze and pushed down her feelings. She glared at the arena and started walking in that direction. Beside her, Qin Zheng could feel the sharp aura from around Ye Jiao’s body. He understood that this girl was angry, but she couldn’t make a move, just like that.
“Come on, icy woman. What are you doing staying silent like that?” her opponent laughed.
Mu Xin stayed perfectly calm. She raised her sword lightly before dashing to her opponent. Her figure looked enchanting as she twisted her body to evade her opponent’s slash and swung her sword.
Slash!
It reached her opponent’s shoulder.
“B*tch!”
Mu Xin’s breath was rough, but she was composed. Side-stepping to the back, she narrowly evaded the attack. When her opponent retracted his sword, she charged forward once again, her sword was directed straight to her opponent’s neck.
Slash!
Her opponent appeared outside the arena with blood gushing out of his neck. He coughed and quickly took a pill from his Spatial Ring.
The arrays in the Inner Disciple’s arena were not as good as the one in Core Disciple. It would not block until they were near death. Because of that, these disciples usually needed immediate treatment.
“Mu Xin! Didn’t I tell you to hold your sword?” a young man yelled angrily.
Mu Xin gave a sidelong glance. “There’s a protection array. Besides, do you really think my opponents are going easy on me?”
“You!”
“It’s already 10, I’ll be going first,” Mu Xin ignored that young man and walked out of the arena. She looked in Ye Jiao’s direction as her cold face warmed a bit. “Ye Jiao, are you here to visit me?”
“Yeah. Let’s go to your place,” Ye Jiao controlled her expression and showed a smile. Even though she felt pained to see Mu Xin in this condition, she knew that this was not the right place.
“Ok.”
The three of them walked away with Mu Xin leading on the front. Even though her breathing was rough, she didn’t show any weakness and continued her steps as if it was something natural.
At the back, the students were eyeing Qin Zheng and Ye Jiao. “Who are they?”
“It should be an Elite Disciple’s robe.”
“Elite Disciple?” the young man who shouted at Mu Xin was surprised. “Did she have any relation with them?”
“It shouldn’t be, right?”
“Yeah, the difference in Inner Disciple and Elite Disciple is a bit too far.”
The young man frowned and only turned around after some time. He felt that their relationships were not simple, but he couldn’t guess what it could be.
On the other hand, Mu Xin had entered the Inner Disciple’s area. Her legs trembled, and Ye Jiao quickly used her Eon Energy to support the other party. It was done so quickly that no one would be able to notice.
“Thank you,” Mu Xin nodded and continued walking.
Ye Jiao didn’t reply until they reached Mu Xin’s courtyard. She locked the door and looked at Mu Xin with a frown.
“Why didn’t you ask for help? They’re clearly bullying you!”
“I don’t have that much right compared to you.”
“That shouldn’t be the case. The teachers here are impartial because of the strict rules,” Qin Zheng knew the teachers better. He looked at Mu Xin. “Even if there’s anyone a bit partial, that young man didn’t have the qualification to earn that.”
“You’re sharp, Senior Brother Qin.”
“Thank you for your compliment.”
Mu Xin sat down on a chair and took out ointment from the drawer nearby. She rolled her sleeves and started applying medicine. Ye Jiao snatched the bottle and bent down to help Mu Xin.
“You don’t have to.”
“I want to,” Ye Jiao raised her head and continued. “I insist.”
Mu Xin felt like her role and Ye Jiao were switched as she could remember the similar incident in the past where she applied medicine to Ye Jiao. She nodded her head and looked at Ye Jiao.
“I can’t fight against him.”
“Why?”
“Because he knows my family background.”
“Your family… background?” Ye Jiao tilted her head.
Mu Xin nodded. “The Mu Family didn’t come from the Four Kingdoms. We migrated there just like yours.”
