Path Of The Lilies - Chapter 398 Qi Huan vs Lin Cai
“Oh, he’s pretty brave.” Lin Cai stood up.
Qin Zheng chuckled. “He can only pick between you and me. Who do you think will give him a bigger chance to win?”
Lin Cai clicked her tongue. “Right, you’re too strong to win against. Even if they’re already rank 4, I doubt you’ll lose.”
“Thank you for your compliment.”
“You’re annoying, Qin Zheng.”
Qin Zheng just smiled and watched as Lin Cai headed to the arena. The two of them greeted each other, and the examination soon began.
“Start!”
Qi Huan took out his sword and readied his stance. He was not in a hurry to attack Lin Cai as he knew that this girl specialized in speed. It would be better for him to learn how to defend against her impossible speed first.
“You’re not going to attack?” Lin Cai asked. Her right arm twirled her thin sword lightly with a slight smile on the corner of her lips.
Qi Huan just smiled and focused his attention.
“Then, I’m first.”
Clang!
In a split second, Lin Cai travelled across the large ring. Her thin sword pointed straight to Qi Huan’s neck, which the young man barely blocked with his own sword. As soon as Lin Cai passed by him, he swung his sword.
Swish!
It hit nothing but air.
Lin Cai’s lips curled up as she twisted her body agilely. It was truly a wonder how she could bend her body in an impossible direction as if her body was made of rubber that could move however she wished.
Clang! Swish! Clang! Swish!
Her thin sword continued to attack against Qi Huan. He managed to block it, while his attack always met with empty air. No matter which direction he tried to counter attack, Lin Cai would evade it.
Swish!
His sword hit the edge of Lin Cai’s hair. Almost immediately, Qi Huan switched his stance and put his sword in front of him to block the next attack.
Clang!
“You’re not bad,” Lin Cai commented. “How about if I picked up the pace a bit?”
Clang! Clang! Clang! Clang!
There was no chance for Qi Huan to attack back. His sword moved to block Lin Cai’s attack as the barrage of attack was directed straight to his chest. Even though she was moving quickly, her sword held considerable weight.
Clang! Clang!
“Wow, Senior Sister Lin is amazing.” Lu Wan was astonished. He had just returned after walking a bit, and the scene he saw was Qi Huan fighting against Lin Cai in an intense battle.
“Didn’t you already fight against her over and over?”
Ye Jiao smiled. The academy would not randomly pick students to be the Elite Disciple. They would surely select those who had the highest capabilities and potential while those slightly lacking were selected as the Core Disciple.
Speaking about Core Disciple, Ye Jiao noticed that many of them were not in the academy. They were all going away for a mission here and there. Only around half of them stayed inside the academy, and almost all of them were all below rank 60. There were only a handful of them who were above rank 60.
And it was those disciples who were beaten up by the new disciples when they were trying to fight for points. Some of the new disciples were the one who ended up getting wounded, though.
Clang! Clang! Clang!
Lin Cai sped up her movements again. Her sword was attacking in numerous directions against Qi Huan while her body appeared to be in afterimages. No one could see their movements anymore because all that left was nothing but blurry images. It wasn’t hard to imagine that they were in the middle of a brutal battle.
Qi Huan couldn’t find any way to attack back. He was constantly pushed in the defending position because of Lin Cai’s speed. Even though he was a stage higher than Lin Cai, her movements seemed to be astonishing.
Clang! Clang! Clang!
Taking a deep breath, Qi Huan released his killing intent. At that moment, everyone around them could feel the thick killing intent emanated from the arena. There was dark pressure as if telling them that they would die in that very moment.
Sweat trickled down on their forehead as fear enveloped their entire body.
Clang! Swish!
Qi Huan moved to pressure Lin Cai, yet his attack still hit nothing but the air. He looked in front of him where the girl was standing calmly with the sword on her right side. A beautiful smile plastered on her childlike face.
“I see, you’re also this type.”
Also?
Before Qi Huan could understand what she meant, Lin Cai already reached his side again. Her thin sword pointed towards his neck.
Clang!
Qi Huan parried the attack. He was astonished to see that Lin Cai could still move freely even though he was releasing a high pressure against her. In the next moment, he saw the blades were heading to his direction once again.
Clang! Clang! Clang!
*cough* *cough*
On the stand, Lu Wan used his hand to block his nose while frowning. “That annoying man. Can’t he direct all of his killing intent towards Senior Sister Lin?”
“He’s not used to that,” Ye Jiao also took out a handkerchief. The rotten smell of vomit filled the stands because the students at the front were unable to withstand the pressure. They vomited while despair filled their expression. Even though it was not directed against them, they felt as if they were at death’s door.
“What?”
“He’s constantly in the ‘battlefield’ where his enemies are assassins or raiding missions. Do you think he usually just locks his killing intent in one?” Ye Jiao knew that the highest pressure was directed at Lin Cai, but the leaking ones were a bit too big. Qi Huan was more used to fighting a crowd and not just one person.
“No.” Lu Wan frowned and groaned. Even he could sense that terrifying pressure coming at him. Even though he was still talking like normal, his forehead was already filled with sweat.
He could faintly understand why Qi Huan didn’t want to spar. With this killing intent, who could possibly contend against him?
Clang! Clang! Clang!
Lin Cai twisted her body and aimed her sword towards Qi Huan’s hand.
Tak!
She reached the handle and pushed the sword away from the man’s hand using a large amount of Eon Energy.
“Urk.” Qi Huan forcefully held on. He could feel his hand was bleeding as his killing intent receded for he was unable to control it anymore. His eyes were looking at Lin Cai with confusion.
Lin Cai grinned. “An attack from Eon Energy Master didn’t have to be just pure swordplay, right?”
“Heh,” Qi Huan smiled. “You’re ri…”
*cough* *cough*
Qi Huan could feel the backlash from using so much killing intent in that long period of time. Added with Lin Cai’s intervention, his circulation was in chaos.
“You can’t continue anymore unless you wish to wound yourself.”
*cough*
“I give up.”
