Pathfinder: Sacred Order - Chapter 86
[Veteran]
[Perception is increased when not in combat and heightened during combat.]
Jacob looked at the notification window for a moment before it closed. He was not expecting to obtain this trait so quickly, but considering the way Matthew was working him, he could see how it was possible to obtain it.
This was his second trait, besides Nessa’s Blessing. Meaning he could pick up another one later on. Truth be told, Veteran was fourth on his list of traits he wanted to obtain. He’d rather have Dominance instead, as it allowed him to control the battle more easily.
Veteran did not really support him if he wanted to create a team-oriented class. Something that could hold its own, but thrived better in large scale fights. Whilst Veteran would allow him to handle himself easily, it did not do much of anything for his teammates.
As for his teammates, Jacob had virtually none. So it was not that big of an issue right now.
His ideal class was to become an Eldritch Knight as they were highly versatile on the battlefield. It was a rare class, that required specific stats and a certain trait. That trait being Dominance.
Between Nessa’s Blessing and Dominance, Nessa’s Blessing was harder to obtain, but both were difficult to get in-game. If you did not get it from the free trait, you would have to wait a while before you happened to pick it up.
Although he did not mind waiting, he did not need to anymore. It was a pain to get rid of traits and almost impossible to once you obtained them. Jacob all but gave up on getting Dominance, and put some thought into his future class.
His priest class could combo into a lot of other classes, such as templar or paladin. Both of which were amazing, but not really unique. Well, paladin was an upgraded version of templars and Jacob was not sure if any existed here in this world.
Still, he did not want to become one.
After debating on his end-game class, Jacob finally breathed a sigh of relief. Mystic Inquisitor.
It was an odd name for a class, but after some deep thinking, it was what Jacob decided on. Mostly due to the fact that it was a unique class, he could obtain right now and would be capable of both team play and solo play.
The sad part about it was he would pick two ‘holy’ attribute classes. A priest was a healer that allied to the light, and Inquisitor was a melee/ranged fighter that allied to the light.
There was a mage that focused on light-based spells, but they were not true healers. They could heal minor wounds, nothing like a priest.
Since it was decided, Jacob picked his third class Inquisitor.
[Inquisitor Level 1 Achieved!]
[Gain: 20 Proficiency points!]
To obtain his third class, he had to spend eight thousand experience points. And like with everything in all types of games, the higher level you were, the harder it was to gain experience. Luckily, Jacob did a bit of farming before this and had the experience points to obtain this class and level it a bit.
He still had a little over ten thousand points left to spend. But, given the amount needed to level this class up, Jacob was more inclined to level up his priest more. But, he could not afford to right now. The more he leveled up his priest class, the more benefits he would receive. Except, those would be in the form of buffs and auras. Nothing he could use for offense.
[Inquisitor Level 2 Achieved!]
[Gain: 20 Proficiency points!]
[Gain: 1 Stat Point.]
[Inquisitor Level 3 Achieved!]
[Gain: 20 Proficiency points!]
[Gain: 1 Skill Points.]
Level three in the class was the furthest he could go right now, but that was all he needed.
He was going off the top of his head right now as he did his damnest to recall the stats needed to switch over. Quickly he raised his Charisma by one point, placing it at six, and just for a little extra, he put his last point into intelligence.
Currently, he had nine points remaining, which was not enough.
Looking at his experience points and priest class, he groaned but leveled it up once more anyways.
[Priest Level 3 Achieved!]
[Gain: 20 Proficiency points!]
[Gain: 1 Skill Point.]
Now he was bone dry out of experience points, only having less than two hundred left over. But it got him to where he needed to be.
He placed five points into tactics, two into leadership, and three into detection.
His build was funky right now and if others saw him they would laugh as it seemed like he had no clue what direction he wanted to go in. But requirements were requirements. Luckily for him, he already had two hundred and eighty points into his light attribute. What was the harm in placing more there?
Jacob added sixty points into his light attribute giving him a grand total of three hundred.
Once that was finished he received a new notification.
[Requirements met.]
[Transfer into Prestige Class: Mystic Inquisitor?]
There was a lot to say about a prestige class, but to keep it short and simple. It was the final class a player could obtain, which was just a combination of their core classes along with the stats they picked. If everything was met, they would unlock a prestige class.
As a developer, Jacob felt proud at his team for coming up with this concept. Just having players go through the flow of picking class after class along with spell after spell was a bit boring. Therefore, they came up with this to spice things up a bit more.
A player who picked warrior and priest or even knight and priest could become a templar or paladin. It depended on the skills they obtained, stats, and attributes.
Jacob agreed to the transfer and allowed the system to do its thing.
[Learn Legacy Skill: Twilight?]
[Learn Legacy Skill: Hour of Dawn?]
[Learn Legacy Skill: Mirrored Agony?]
Upon completion, Jacob received a notification that he could learn one of the three legacy skills. He read the descriptions and found the choice to be hard, as each one would be beneficial in its own way.
