Phone App: Portable Armory - 191 Why I Became A Contractor
On that rainy night, four of us weren’t exactly enjoying the night as a regular person would do. The apartment building was shining among the other buildings in the city. Most likely to be the tallest building around, this building would be our next target.
Aline and I stood up in front of the emergency door of the apartment. That was the only entrance that didn’t have many security guards. Sierra and Echo were waiting in the private parking garage to make sure that Julian didn’t escape if we chased him down.
They hacked into the camera and put it on the loop in every room that we were going to enter. The job was easy for them. Sierra only had to hack into the security system while Echo stood by as the driver.
As for us, the job wasn’t that simple. We have to go to the emergency door first to avoid the security guards. After that, we had to go to any nearest elevator that would take us to the 18th floor. On the 18th floor, the shooting would begin. Aline had finished her preparation by putting a suppressor in her Galil.
Lynn: “Harren 1 is on position. Entering the building now.”
I pried that green emergency door open with the crowbar that was placed on my back. The emergency door’s lock was very strong. It required both of us to push the crowbar to open it.
“One… Two… Three…” Together, we pushed the crowbar and the door was finally opened.
Aline aimed her assault rifle at the hallway of the first floor. She gave the all-clear sign and both of us walked into the apartment building and Aline closed the door behind us although it had been broken.
“Harren 1 has entered the nest. Echo team, please stand by for hacking,” Aline said.
Aline led the way with me following her from behind. She was as vigilant as ever. Her eyes were sharp as she looked in many different directions. She took her time in her surroundings even to the point where he stopped because of footsteps that she heard from another direction.
“Clear.” Aline peeked and ran to the elevator. She pressed the door multiple times. Her expression clearly told that she really wanted the elevator to go down faster, but she couldn’t since it was something out of her control.
Aline pressed the radio button on her tactical rig. “Echo, this is Harren 2, the elevator seems to be very slow. Can you make It faster?” Aline looked at the floor indicator. It went very fast. The number went from 16 to 1 very quickly.
The elevator door rang and the door opened. The elevator was empty. I followed Aline shortly after she entered the elevator. She pressed the button to the 18th floor. I radioed Echo through the radio on my tactical rig.
Lynn: “Sierra, Harren 1, status report on the 18th floor? In front of the 5th Southwest Elevator.”
Lynn: “Loud and clear Sierra. Harren 1 out.”
The display on top of the elevator door went to 18 real fast. Aline had checked her rifle and her NVG had already placed in front of her eyes. I put the NVG in front of my eyes. The elevator lights suddenly darkened as the door was opened. Aline took the lead by firing his Galil at the three hostiles that were located in front of the elevator door.
“Let’s move. Maintain silence, no talks allowed.” Aline moved outside the elevator with her assault rifle in front of her. I kept an eye on her hand in case she gave another signal since a voice beside a mere whisper wasn’t allowed.
Echo: “You have moved past the first waypoint. More guards are in front of you. Six of them are staying in a guest corner located on your left. ETA 30 seconds.”
Aline and I used synchronized shots to shoot six of them together. We continued walking in the dark hallway until we saw very bright lights from our left side. It might come from the phone of the security guards since the NVG amplified light by thousands.
Aline gave me a hand signal to take down those guards. According to her hand signal, there were three using an assault rifles and the rest weren’t spotted for using any weapon. She got a bad feeling about this.
We ambushed them as we used our special ability, the [Focus]. Time slowed down and we realized that not all of them were hostile. In fact, three of them were a woman that was harmless. Nevertheless, we took all of them down without any hassle.
Echo: “You have moved past the second waypoint. There are two hallways in front of you. Turn to the left and there is one guard there. Be careful. ETA 10 seconds.”
The hallway eventually led to a T-junction. Aline turned left and fired her assault rifle. The bullet hit one of the guards in the head and he dropped dead. The target was now down, but Echo had bad news for them. Sierra had problems in maintaining his hacking due to the massive amount of processing speed it needed.
“Sierra to Harren team. My battery drains too fast, you only have six minutes left.” The voice came to my ears soon. Aline immediately rushed and started running with her assault rifle. She ignored the instruction to listen to Echo after each waypoint.
She instead rushed towards the room and shot the bodyguards around her. Anyone who was in front of her got immediately shot since she considered them to be hostile. I followed her by walking and aiming my rifle behind. I was afraid if there was any bodyguard from the other site who would follow us and shoot us.
Suddenly, I saw one of the doors was opening behind me. The room shined brightly that I had to flip my NVG up. There was a high school girl coming out from that room. She might scream if she saw me in full tactical uniform with a skull balaclava. I needed to take care of her before she screamed.
I pulled her away from that room and bashed her head to the wall to make her unconscious. Weirdly enough, bashing the head into a wall worked. It was not like that she would die from that alone, but it was not like I would care either if she died. Meanwhile, Aline had gone far enough from me and she had arrived at the room where Julian was staying.
Aline: “Harren team to Echo, we are breaking radio silence. Prepare to breach.”
I ran in that direction with the breaching charge in my hands. The breaching charge would allow us to enter the room without any hassle since breaking the locks would destroy our element of surprise.
I planted that C4 onto the wooden door and took cover behind one of the walls. The C4 exploded and destroyed the door with the locks. “MOVE!” I shouted as I went inside of the room with my SCAR-H in front of my shoulder.
As expected, the living room of that apartment was empty. Julian must have been sleeping inside of his own cozy room. However, we immediately encountered three of those security guards that were patrolling the room itself. I pulled the trigger and activated my [Focus] ability to shoot all of them at once.
I pulled the trigger three times and thus, three bullets were flying out of the barrel of my SCAR-H and hit the sicarios in their head. Three of them dropped dead and I entered the bedroom. The bedroom was the spot where Julian was hiding. He was hiding behind such an obvious place.
He hid inside of the wardrobe of his own room. That was the dumbest idea I had ever eccountered so far. It was not like Sissy who had a hidden escape door beneath her house, this dude just decided to hide in the most obvious place.
I aimed my rifle at the wardrobe and shouted, “Open the wardrobe, I know you’re there!” The door was slowly opened and revealed Julian who was only wearing his boxer. His hands were in the air and I put it down after tying it up with a zip-tie. I looked at him and said, “Haha, what a good catch.”
I carried him on my back. He was easy to be lifted. Aline noticed it and radioed Echo to get ready since the package was en route. Aline led the way inside of that hallway again and we had other hostiles incoming from our direction. I couldn’t use anything else beside of my MP7 since my other hand was full.
We rushed to the elevator that led to the private parking garage. The doors were guarded by the professional security guards that posed no threat to me since they didn’t wear any night-vision equipment. Aline shot both of them and she pressed the elevator down button.
The elevator door opened and Sierra seemed to forget to turn off the lights. It almost blinded us and we flipped our NVG up. It turned out that it also grabbed the attention of the cartels. We entered and closed the elevator door down as the cartel was shooting at us.
Echo: “Shit, be quick, there are reinforcements.”
