Pokemon – A Real Story - Chapter 88
This was the move ‘blizzard’, summoned by Nidorina. The move had powered up greatly compared to a month ago when it was battling Nidorino.
For weeks, the group was planning for strategies for the match. But it was impossible. How could you make a battle plan when you don’t even know whom you are battling against? The group they would be battling was a surprise till now, so they came with the most basic strategy.
Target the opponent’s weakness!
So, the ‘blizzard’ was for Golbat. The group had already mastered their own hand signs for targeting the first Pokemon and it was Golbat. They had already thought of starting with a control type move like ‘blizzard’ or ‘earthquake’ to control the battlefield. Cause whoever controls the battlefield, controls the match.
As per the group’s telepathic conversation, Golduck and Golbat should be dealt with first. Golduck could have an ice type move which would be super effective against Pidgeotto and Butterfree, and Golbat could be an annoying Pokemon to deal with. Primeape, however, was on the low side. Don’t ever think that it is a weak Pokemon. But the crazies were familiar with Primeape’s fighting style as they have dealt with them a lot in the wild.
The ‘blizzard’ struck Golbat hard. It seemed to be a critical hit. Its wings and its lower body were frozen and it dropped to the ground. The opponents were shocked. They didn’t except such a fast attack.
But somehow, the after-effects of the ‘blizzard’ seemed weak. The surroundings were not that cold as they would expect and they had personally seen Nidorino’s ‘blizzard’.
“Cloud Nine huh, shit!” said Axel loudly. This unusual phenomenon was due to Gloduck’s ability, ‘Cloud Nine’. It suppresses all effects brought by the weather, including move power increase, end of turn damage, accuracy changes and other relevant abilities.
Then, 3 things happened at the same time.
Pidgeotto used ‘Whirlwind’ and Butterfree used ‘poison powder’ to Golduck. This was a combination move. The ‘poison powder’ got mixed with ‘Whirlwind’ and struck Golduck.
Golbat was freed from frozen state. How do you ask? Primeape had ruthlessly used ‘fire punch’ on Golbat to free it from its state. This action shocked the crazies. How could one be so ruthless?
“Now!” shouted Axel. By the time the opponent could realize what had transpired, Golbat was hit with ‘horn attack’ from Nidorino. The horn attack was at MAX level. The poor Pokemon was flown by the impact and it fainted on the spot.
One down! 2 more to go!!
It was good news that Golbat was dealt first. Golbat species are like a poor version of Vampire Noblesse like Cadis Etrama Di Raizel. It could suck your blood to increase its powers, it has supersonic sense and could pinpoint target easily and higher tier Golbat could even manipulate the blood of the target and itself for more firepower (like Raizel from Noblesse)
Thank Arceus that the evolution of Golbat had not been discovered yet. If Crobat came to play, then the Zubat species would be one of the top non legendary Pokemon.
Defeating Golbat changed the dynamics of the battle. Now it was 2 VS 1.
Nidorino and Nidorina VS Primeape
Pidgeotto and Butterfree VS Golduck
Pidgeotto and Butterfree VS Golduck
The combination move had not been missed and it had affected Golduck. It was poisoned and there were multiple bruises on its body. Before it could even recover its standing, a yellow beam hit it on its ċhėst and it was flown by the impact. It crashed into a tree and the tree was almost broken.
This move was ‘Solar beam’ from Butterfree. When Golduck was dealing with the combination move, Butterfree had already used ‘Sunny day’. The move was not affected by Golduck’s ability this time, as it was not in its perfect state. It was busy dealing with another thing. Golduck had bigger fish to fry.
‘Solar beam’ was an unusual move for Butterfree as trainers normally train them in psychic and bug type moves. But it was the perfect combination when used with ‘sunny day’. When ‘sunny day’ was in effect, ‘Solar beam’ do not need to be charged and can be used instantly.
That was why Golduck could not even register what hit it. But what surprised all of them was its tenacity.
It had not fainted and was trying to stand up. “Gol…duckkk” it said with difficulty.
“That’s enough dude. Come back” said the trainer calling his Pokemon back. He knew that Golduck was down for the count.
Now it was 4 VS 1. Axel knew that they had already won.
Nidorino and Nidorina VS Primeape
Axel had thought that this battle would end fast. He had full confidence in Nidorino. It had to be pointed out that, Nidorino had defeated Nidorina who was a rare ranked Pokemon when it was in uncommon ranked stage.
Granted that Nidorina had not taken that battle seriously, ‘horn drill’ was a devastating move and it had hit Nidorina in a vital spot. He knew it could not defeat Nidorina if Nidorina was serious but it still counted as something.
Now Nidorino was a rare ranked Pokemon and Axel could confidently shout out loud that Nidorino was the strongest Pokemon in this battle. So he had thought that the battle would end soon in their victory. But how every wrong his was.
Primeape was dodging the attacks at a very good ratio. It had some bruises but it was ok. When the battle of Golduck ended, Primeape got distracted and Nidorina got a sweet ‘horn attack’ on it.
Pidgeotto immediately flew down towards Primeape to hit it with ‘Aerial ace’ but Primeape shot Pidgeotto with ‘thunder punch’ down to the ground. The move was powerful and to add it with Pidgeotto’s speed, it looked like Pidgeotto’s head was plastered in the ground. Pidgeotto was out of the battle.
“No!! Pidgeotto!!!” shouted K trying to run towards it. But the teacher stopped him. K called back Pidgeotto and ran towards the nurse who was also watching the battle.
This was given, as Pidgeotto was not even an uncommon ranked but Primeape was a rare ranked Pokemon.
“Nidorino!! Finish it now, ‘horn drill’” shouted Axel. “Blizzard again” shouted A at the same time. ‘Blizzard’ was hit which made Primeape partially frozen. It was then followed but a rotating horn that stabbed Primeape in the stomach. Axel could hear a ‘puchi!’ sound which confirmed that the horn had pierced the Pokemon’s stomach.
Dust flew out and everyone could see Primeape bȧrėly standing, with blood gushing from its stomach.
“Wow!” said Axel. He had not expected Primeape to withstand the blow. But what Axel didn’t know was Primeape had used ‘Endure’ in the last movement to withstand it.
Nidorino was huffing and puffing as ‘horn drill’ was a stamina-consuming move. So, Nidorina decided to end it with another ‘horn attack’.
“Primeape, use ‘reversal’” said the trainer.
A wanted Nidorino to stop the run when he heard the trainer but Nidorino was already there.
Nidorino was critically hit with the move and it fainted on the spot. ‘Reversal’ was a powerful move if used strategically, and that was what the opponent did. Reversal deal more damage, when the HP is lower.
“Now, rest and Focus energy” said the opponent again. The opponent was a tall guy with no hair and big biceps. This baldy was now irritating Axel.
Rest and Focus energy are the moves that could not be used at the same time. But it was different for Primeape. Primeape had an ability called ‘Vital Spirit’ which prevents it from falling asleep even when using moves like ‘rest’
So now it was recovering without any collateral damage and was increasing its critical hit ratio at the same time.
Nidorino was taking its much-needed short rest and Butterfree was far.
By the time they got closer, Primeape had already recovered a quarter of its health.
“Now for round two!!” shouted baldy with his raised fist.
“B, only try to use long range attacks, I will take care of the rest” said Axel. B nodded and instructed Butterfree to use ‘Whirlwind’.
There was no way that Primeape could dodge the attack. It was heavily injured. Though it had recovered a bit, it could not move hastily due to its open wound in the stomach.
“There will be no round two” replied Axel. “B, lets finish this”
‘Whirlwind’ hit Primeape and Nidorino used ‘Earthquake’.
Axel look on his face literally said ‘unbelievable’ because Primeape was still not down.
They had thought that Primeape would be the easiest one to deal with but they had forgotten that it was a trained Primeape, not a wild one.
Butterfree then used ‘Solar beam’. It was instant as ‘Sunny day’ was still in effect and Nidorino used ‘Horn drill’ once again.
This was like a chain attack. One after another. Huge dust arose from the impact. Primeape was hit with both of the attacks as it could hardly move.
Now, this was a pickle. If Primeape could still withstand it then it would be a problem for the team. Primeape knew moves like ‘rest’ so it could heal itself. But Nidorino and Butterfree were all out of stamina.
Fortunately, that was not the case. It had fainted but Primeape was seriously injured.
It took 1 blizzard, 1 horn attack, 2 horn drills, 1 whirlwind and 1 solar beam.
That was a total of 5 stab moves! ‘Seriously, how is it still alive?’ thought Axel. Axel didn’t know that Primeape could be such a tank.
The battle had concluded and they had finally won.
