Pokemon: Master Of Tactics - Chapter 378
One day later.
Alex, Marco, Janine, and their subordinates are waiting at the entrance from this the base of this island to start this test. To be precise, they are waiting for Lucas Wyatt, who is starting this test.
Lucas Wyatt arrived at the entrance of this base with three envelopes right as the sun came up.
Lucas said with a smile, ” Greeting everyone, I hope you slept well. I will now explain to you how this test will proceed.”
He then looked at the three as he said, “As soon as this test starts, fights among the participants are prohibited for the first hour of this test. I hope you won’t be so stupid and fight with each other immediately. Do that on the island if the first hour is over.”
Lucas continued after a short pause, “Your mission tasks are in these envelopes. In each of these envelopes, there is a different mission task and once you have received a mission task you cannot change it. Of course, you can also just ignore your mission task and win by defeating the other two team leaders.”
Alex looked at the three envelopes with a serious expression. He wonders what tasks are in there.
Lucas looked at the three as he said, “Choose one of the envelopes without touching or manipulating them in any way.”
Janine took an envelope first without giving Marco or Alex a chance to do something. She was just too fast.
Alex who saw this was a little confused. ‘ Why is she taking an envelope so quickly? even if she had a way of seeing what was written in each envelope, she can’t read that fast, can she? Is it even possible to find out what’s written there without touching or manipulating it?’
Marco was a bit slower but he also immediately took an envelope without hesitation.
Alex got even more confused when he saw this. Since when is Marco such a direct and honest person who doesn’t even try to gain an advantage in this test?
He couldn’t imagine that Marco had become such a person after 1 day.
‘Did they both give up trying to figure out what’s in those envelopes? but…the two gave up a bit too quickly up. this is all so weird.’
Alex did not notice Lucas’s glance because he thinks too deeply to notice anything in this world for several seconds. He was very deep in his thoughts engrossed.
Lucas looked at Alex with an impatient expression as he said, “What are you waiting for? I only have this envelope left.”
Alex interrupts his thoughts and picks up the last envelope. But as he picked up this envelope, an idea came to his mind that would explain it all.
Now everything started to make sense for Alex.
Marco and Janine knew beforehand what was in these envelopes, so they immediately tried to take the best and second-best envelope.
Also, How these two knew this wasn’t hard for Alex to guess. With a high probability, these two got this info from Lucas.
Alex also attempted to bribe Lucas to gain an advantage in this test but because it hadn’t worked, he thought it shouldn’t work for Marco or Janine either. Unfortunately, Alex now realized that this belief was probably incorrect.
Marco and Janine’s influence and power are frankly far better than Alex’s, so it’s not illogical that they have many good relationships with high-ranking Team Rocket members and have an easier time bribing one of the high-ranking Team Rocket members.
Now that Alex thinks about it, it makes sense that those two could affect more things in Team Rocket than he could.
Marco is Giovanni’s nephew and Janine is Koge’s daughter. In comparison, Alex is a nobody without a direct background.
But that doesn’t make him any less annoyed. ‘ F*ck, I can’t lose like that. Fucking nepotism.’
Alex was very annoyed to have a big disadvantage in this test without being able to do anything about it.
Although Alex can also win simply by defeating the other two team leaders and he doesn’t necessarily have to win through the mission task, it is still a major disadvantage.
In the worst case, Marco and Janine not only have a much simpler task than Alex, but they also know exactly which mission tasks Alex has to complete in order to win.
In comparison, Alex not only had what was probably the most difficult task but also had no idea which task Marco or Janine had.
This ridiculously unfair disadvantage made Alex particularly annoyed.
These two not only team up against him but use their connections to give themselves an unfair advantage.
Alex takes a few seconds to suppress his emotion. he didn’t want to start getting emotional now. That would bring him no benefits.
Alex’s expression went cold and emotionless again as if nothing happened.
He glanced at his envelope as he thought, ‘now I can only hope this task isn’t too bad.’
Lucas then gave all three participants an electronic device with a screen on it.
“All Team Leaders must wear this device throughout the entire test. This device is designed to track your location on this island and disqualify you if you are defeated or captured by another participant. Simply grab the device from a defeated or captured Team Leader and press the disqualify option on the screen. This is the only way a team leader can be disqualified without breaking the rules.”
Alex took this electronic device that looked like a weird-looking electronic watch. Because this device has to be worn on the team leader’s body during the entire test, Alex doesn’t even try to hide this “watch”. he tightens it on his wrist like a normal watch.
‘Where exactly should I hide this watch?’, thought Alex
Alex can’t throw it away or put it in his TRH device. He has to wear it somewhere on his body.
Marco and Janine did the same thing and put this “watch” on their wrists.
Lucas looked at the three as he said, “Okay, I’ve said all there is to say. You three should have read Giovanni’s ruleset for this test, so I won’t explain it again here.”
Then say in a loud voice, “The test starts now. Good luck.”
Marco, Janine, and their subordinates immediately started summoning their Flying-type Pokemon. they then start flying away from the entrance of the base.
These Pokemon fly so fast that Alex didn’t have enough time to look at the information about all these flying-type Pokemon.
He focused on Marco and Janine’s Pokemon(s).

Crobat was Janine’s Pokemon and Gyarados was Marco’s Pokemon.
Although these two pokemon have the same level and similar strength, Alex thought that Janine’s Pokemon team should be weaker than Marco’s.
Crobat was Janine’s two strongest Pokemon in the games and also in the team rocket rookie tournament, as far as Alex remembers.
Marco’s Gyarados might also be Marco’s second strongest Pokemon, but Alex thinks that this is very unlikely actually the case.
As far as Alex knew, Marco was a Ground-type trainer so Alex didn’t believe that Marco’s Strongest Pokemon weren’t of that type.
Especially if the potential of that Pokemon isn’t ridiculously good.
Alex watched as Marco and Janine fly in two different directions.
After those two were gone, Alex looked at his team as he said, “Follow me.”
Alex only goes for 2 minutes deeper into the forest before he stops.
He just didn’t want to start his plan in front of the base or talk to his subordinates in this place. Especially not after he had the suspicion that Lucas had helped these two.
Alex then removed his “watch” from his wrist and summoned his Ditto.
“Ditto turn yourself into this watch and stay on my wrist like a regular watch would unless I tell you otherwise.”
Ditto does that and turns into this weird-looking watch.
The real “Watch” put Alex on the lower part of his leg. This is covered by his pants so that no one could see that he had them there.
Alex and his subordinates then started summoning the rest of their Pokemon(s).
