Pokemon Pearl - Chapter 78
That young Pokémon Trainer then approached the restaurant and then, went to the table where Rico and the others are in, asking them about the story, before revealing his true identity. Upon seeing and hearing him, Rico and his group are shocked and surprised by Joaquin’s testimony and revelation, with Trevor commenting, “Wow, really?” Joaquin then nodded, “Yes, and I am his descendant.” Rico then stand up in amazement, and responded back with, “Woah, that was so amazing and cool!” Riolu and Piplup then responded with amazement.
“Yes, and as his descendant, I will bring honor to my ancestors,” Joaquin responded back with serious determination. “And being a Pokémon Trainer is one of my duties for Marion.”
“One of your duties?” asked Juan, who was confused by Joaquin’s statement. With a cool, narcissistic-style attitude and posture while directing to himself, Joaquin responded back, “Yes, it’s one of my duties for my ancestors.”
“Okay then,” Rico replied while calming down. “I respected that.” Riolu then responded with respect.
Not long after they had paid for their meal, all of them exited the restaurant, with Joaquin and his Pokémon, an Electabuzz, which is an Electric-type, and a Grotle, a Grass-type starter from Sinnoh, discussing about Marion and his personal life. Rico and his group seem to be interested by the topic, given by their love for history.
“That was really interesting,” Rico commented positively and brightly. Litleo then responded with positive comment. They then took a left turn towards another extension parts of the mall building, which shows a big water fountain in the intersection complete with a tall, glass dome. It was busy, but not as busy as the marketplaces, which located at various parts of the city, with people and their Pokémon spending time together around the round fountain and on the polish-smooth, granite and marble tile floors, while others are in shops and small cafes shopping, browsing, eating, and drinking. The place was vibrant and good as if anyone can go there. And as they walking pass the big fountain, Joaquin was thinking about something: if he can be as strong as his ancestors, then he must be tested by someone. Deciding to test that theory, Joaquin turned towards Rico and asked him for a Pokémon battle. Rico was surprised.
“What? A battle? Right now?”
“Yes, so I could be tested for my strength and skill as a Pokémon Trainer,” Joaquin responded back with cool style. Juan was also surprised at his willingness to be tested. Trevor and Campillo are also reacted with the similar expressions as Juan’s. But Rico, delighted by it in the inside, accepted it enthusiastically without any hesitation, surprising his friends even more.
Not long after, they are at a Pokémon battle field outside of the mall having a Pokémon battle. The two Trainers are Rico and Joaquin, and their Pokémon are Riolu and Grotle. The others are watching nearby under some trees with their teams. The sun was shining, but a few clouds blocking it. Then, Joaquin said to Rico, “I will win against you, Trainer, for this will give honor to my ancestors.”
“Okay, win or lose, I don’t care,” Rico responded back with confident coolness. Riolu then responded with cool seriousness and determination. And under the trees, Trevor commented while his arms are crossed, “This might be a bit tough because it’s a battle between a descendant of a famous knight in history and a normal kid.”
“Yeah, it’ll be, but I don’t think Joaquin was strong and tough enough against Rico Titus,” Juan doubted about the test’s results. His Dewott then responded with mild skepticism. But, Campillo told them not to doubt, but to find out by watching the battle.
Back at the field, the battle had began.
“Grotle, use Bullet Seed!” Joaquin commanded Grotle with cool seriousness. Grotle then opened its mouth and used Bullet Seed, shooting high velocity seeds at Riolu.
“Alright, Riolu, use Focus Blast!” Rico commanded Riolu quickly with alert coolness. Riolu then dodged the attack and used Focus Blast, heightening its mental focus and unleashes its power, striking Grotle with power. Grotle then almost collapsed to the ground in pain, but managed to get up. This really alerts Joaquin, who then responded by commanding, “Don’t give up, Grotle, quickly, use Bite!” Grotle then charged towards Riolu and used Bite, biting Riolu viciously sharp fangs, striking it with a little bit of power.
“Oh, no, Riolu!” Rico responded to his Pokémon being attacked. But Riolu managed to punch Grotle with its paw, inflicting the latter a bit more pain. This also blasts Grotle back to the other side of the field, alerting its Trainer quickly.
“Grotle, are you okay?” Joaquin asked it quickly. Grotle then managed to get up again, but a bit more weakened than last time. Riolu seriously stand up against Grotle. Amazed by Riolu’s strength and ability to respond, Rico commented, “Wow, that was good, Riolu.”, Riolu then turned around and responded back with positivity, before turning back in seriousness. The others who watched the battle are a bit astonished at Riolu, with Campillo commenting, “Woah, it seems that Riolu was getting stronger and stronger a bit everyday. After all, Riolu was Rico’s first Pokémon.” His Emolga then responded with positive comment. Trevor was both positive and serious simultaneously.
Back at the battle, Joaquin commanded Grotle seriously, “Grotle, again, use Bullet Seed!” Grotle then used Bullet Seed, opening its mouth and shoot high velocity seeds at Riolu, striking it with a good amount of power.
“Quickly, Riolu, use Focus Blast again!” Rico commanded Riolu seriously and quickly. Managing to withstand to he Bullet Seeds, Riolu used Focus Blast, heightening its mental focus and unleashes its power, striking Grotle with the same amount of power as last one. But this time, Grotle got defeated, and Rico won the first round of the battle, shocking Joaquin a lot.
“What? I lost?” Joaquin though in his mind. But before Joaquin would retaliate or say something negative to himself, Rico said to him, “It’s okay, Joaquin, you don’t have to win just to give honor to your ancestors. You will when you try to win again.” The words calm Joaquin down very greatly.
“Wow, thanks for the words, Rico Titus of Kawayan City,” Joaquin thanked him positively complete with an address to Rico. Rico was very surprised at the last part of Joaquin’s response, and then got embarrassed a bit.
“You don’t have to give me that type of addressing. I just said it to you so you could train more efficiently.
But, I like it a lot.”
