- Volume 4: A New Journey In Hoenn Chapter 119 15: Mauville Gym
A few days after the event, Soul reached Mauville City. It was nothing from the game that he have seen, even though the city was built by Wattson himself, Soul is in the anime version of the world after all.
No one big building that can be called a city, but just a normal one with several other buildings.
When Soul arrived there, it was afternoon as Soul took a break with his Pokemon and didn’t do much other than relaxing and playing with each other.
While they did this, Soul and Anubis were experimenting on their new power, as much use as it could be, it was annoying to see several number charts all the time. After several hours, both of them managed to shut down the Karma Sight as everything went back to normal. They tried to open it again, which worked, then proceeds to try open and close it until they got used to using this new ability.
Soul rented a room at a local Pokemon Center where he rested until the next day come by. Waking up the next day, Soul decided to challenge the gym today and go back to Slateport City after to the Contents Spectacular Hall event. After that, he would go get the fourth badge from Lavaridge Gym.
Reaching to where the gym is, Soul could see a huge building. Opening the door, Soul was greeted with an empty hallway as he steps on a tile with fence on both sides. This made him a bit suspicious as the tile suddenly moved forward with him.
Soul: ‘What’s going on?’
He thought as the tile suddenly moved faster than before, but he still managed to balance himself on his foot as several gates were opened.
Further in, the tile begins to move upwards. When Soul saw this, he already knew what was going to happen next.
Soul: ‘A rollercoaster welcoming what creativity this man have.’
He thought for himself as he falls down at a higher speed until they reached to the water as the tile begins to float forward.
Soul: ‘I wonder how many challengers have fallen on the water? Hopefully not too many’
The tile reached the surface once again as Soul thought it was all over until the gate was opened, revealing a robotic Raikou behind it.
It suddenly blasted an electric wave towards him as he dodged it by bending down while looking at the attack in shock.
Anubis was about to step in when Soul stopped him and tossed out a Pokeball. A Bagon came out of it as Soul told him to use Headbutt on the robotic Raikou.
Bagon wasted no time and sprinted towards his opponent, the robotic Raikou was about to blast another electric attack before it got hit by Bagon hard head. Its head got blown up as it flew away from its body.
Soul sighed as Bagon returned to his side. The door to the side opened as two-man could be seen coming out from it. One of them was old with a short white beard, while the other one was young with brown hair and black eyes.
Wattson: Never once in my life have I seen my Robot Raikou getting destroy like that, hahaha! My name is Watson, I’m the gym leader here. And the person beside me is my assistant, Watt.
Watt: Hello, welcome to Mauville Gym.
Soul: Um hello.
Wattson: Before we battle, tell me how was the ride?
Soul: It was something, alright. How many have fallen into the water?
Wattson: Quite a few actually, hahaha!
He laughed with a big smile, seeing this, Soul gave out an awkward smile as he had never met someone so bright and positive gym leader before this person in front of him.
All three of them got to the battlefield, which was a normal one. Watt would be the judge of the battle as Soul and Wattson got into their position with Soul choosing Bagon, and Wattson revealing all of the Pokemon he would use. A Magnemite, Voltorb, and a Magneton.
Seeing this, Soul felt a bit complicated as he didn’t know if Wattson was confident, or just a fool to show all of his Pokemon to his opponent, giving them a chance to choose a better Pokemon to use in battle.
Wattson: I have to warn you, me and my Pokemon have been together for years now, so they won’t easy to beat!
Soul: ‘Oh my god I’m feeling bad to beat this man with only one Pokemon. Should I go with two instead?’
Wattson: For my first Pokemon, I will choose Magnemite.
Magnemite floated into the battle as Watt begins to explain the rules. It would be a one versus one with each party can only use up to three Pokemon. The first parties to have all of their Pokemon first fainted, lose. After that, the battle have started with Wattson going for the first move.
Wattson: Magnemite use Swift!
Soul: Dodge the attack and use both Dragon Dance and Defense Curl.
Bagon dodged the incoming attack as he boosted his attack, speed, and defense by one stage at the same time. This was due to the intense training it went under Soul instruction to use two moves at the same time.
Wattson: Keep using Swift on that Bagon, Magnemite!
Magnemite kept sending out stars as every second, Bagon kept having an easier time dodging the attack as his speed kept increasing. Seeing the attack is no use, Wattson told Magnemite to use Thunder Wave. Magnemite sent out a wave of thunder against Bagon, who was now max boosted by Dragon Dance, and Defense Curl.
Soul: Dodge it and use Fire Fang.
With his newfound speed, Bagon dodged the attack with relative ease as both of his fangs were in flames. He quickly sprinted towards Magnemite as he bit on it, and made a spin before throwing it away.
Either way, to say, Magnemite fainted due to the attack was fire-type and Bagon pure strength along with the boost of Dragon Dance.
Watt: Magnemite is unable to battle! The winner is Bagon!
Soul: ‘One down, two more to go.’
