Pokemon: Ultimate Generations - Chapter 18
It didn’t take a genius to understand why these Butterfree had gone on the ȧssault. They were clearly here to protect the Metapod hanging from the trees. They understood what Gan had said earlier, in fact, the Butterfree had been watching him the minute he came close to the tree.
Butterfree didn’t go out of their way to attack humans unless they were attacked. They had done well for themselves to fend off against Beedrill. Butterfree learned confusion at level 11, so they could deal with Beedrill if they attacked them.
Butterfree would attack a Beedrill the minute it or they entered its territory, they were both in a hostile relationship. Gan was clearly in Butterfree’s territory, and the only reason people believed Beedrill ran Zone 1 of Viridian Forest was due to them being hostile towards everyone.
Butterfree had shown up with 2 of its buddies, but they weren’t level 11 like the latter. They were both level 10 and Male, it was clear that this Female was the Leader around here.
“Rock Slide the one that showed up first!” Gan quickly order Geodude to attack.
“Geodude!” Geodude swung its fist and a void opened up over the lead Butterfree. Butterfree took notice of the space quickly and knew the opposers were striking back.
“Freee!” It gave a cry and easily dodged the Rockslide that came crashing down toward it. Butterfree’s Compound Eyes weren’t for show, and they weren’t exclusive for hitting attacks only but also dodging them and seeing from many angles.
There was a delay in using moves, so Geodude had to wait at least 5 to 7 seconds to use Rockslide again. Butterfree’s eyes, which were originally red, lit up with a blue light. Suddenly a strange force locked in on Geodude, as the area around it twisted slightly.
“Careful!” Gan called out watching the scene unfold. Gan knew all it would take was one Rockslide to defeat Butterfree, but he needed to land it first.
“Geo!” Geodude felt pain and held its head/body for a moment. Gan knew that Butterfree had used the move Confusion.
The other Butterfree hadn’t learned Confusion yet, so Geodude still had a chance. But Gan wasn’t going to allow his Geodude to get triple-teamed. After all, their levels weren’t that far from Geodude’s, and together, they could surely beat him overtime.
Gan tossed his other Pokeball out and summoned Koffing.
“Koffing, flamethrower those Butterfree, take them down!” Gan pointed toward the trio and commanded. Butterfree attacked together with gust, but the damage was too small.
Koffing spewed fire at the group. The three tried to escape the harmful heat, but Koffing kept his spray of fire going until they were blown out of the sky. The 3 dropped out of the sky leaving a smoke trail.
Gan ran over and tossed 3 Pokeballs at them, they couldn’t take one flamethrower and fainted once they were hit.
Gan looked at Geodude and Koffing, he found that Geodude had leveled up to 14. It was close to level 15 at this point due to the amount exp Butterfree gave. This was also because of its talent to learn and get stronger faster than most Pokemon.
“This is good. I can level up here for a bit while catching Pokemon, it a win-win situation.” Gan smiled and tossed those Pokeballs into his storage for later. Afterward, he looked towards the tree where the Metapod were.
….
Moments later, Gan could be seen making his way through the Forest. This place seemed peaceful, he hadn’t run into anything crazy yet besides those Butterfree from before. He had used a Potion on Geodude to heal it from its previous fight.
It would be a lie to say that Gan wasn’t looking for another fight. Continuing on, he made his way through the thick tall grass and forest. “I wish I had a machete to cut these annoying tall heaps of grass out of my way.” Gan complained to himself as he advanced onward.
Gan eventually found a walking path, but he kept his Geodude by his side just in case things went south. Looking down the walkway, he saw what he had come here for; it was the territory of Beedrill!
The map that Brock had given him was quite detailed compared to the one you bought in stores. It gave him the location of certain groups of Pokemon, and what Pokemon you’d find in the Forest. In Butterfree’s territory, Gan would be able to find Bulbasaur if he searched hard enough.
Pikachu lurked in random places within Viridian Forest, but he was here to catch that Pokemon as well. Pinsir and Scyther hung out in the higher Zones within this Forest, but Gan wasn’t quite dumb enough to venture there.
Gan walked toward the sign that had a picture of Beedril with an X over its face. There were several warnings on the sign, indicating that this wasn’t a good place to go.
*Sigh* Fuck, it’s the only way.” Gan sighed deeply, he wasn’t the type to put himself in danger if he could avoid it; but he had to add them to his Pokedex entry.
Geodude noticed Gan’s deep sighs and said a few unknown words to Gan. He knew it was trying to cheer him up, but Geodude didn’t know what Gan was so bothered about. Gan didn’t need to say anything because Geodude would find out soon!
Gan walked on through the forest, this area had really thick trees compared to the ones from before.
“Ahhhhh~!!” Just as he was getting into the scenery, he heard a scream from afar.
“W-what the….” Gan stopped in place, his expression wasn’t looking so good. He looked at Geodude and Geodude looked up at him. The look in their eyes was clear; there was clearly danger ahead.
“I came here for Beedrill, so I’ll get some Beedrill!” Gan put his index finger over his lips, letting Geodude know to keep quiet. They both headed over silently to the place they heard the scream come from.
They both advanced cautiously and steadily through the thicket. Gan looked up and saw a Pikachu looking down at him silently from the trees. That look in eyes seemed to be that of pity; like it was looking at a dead idiot!
|Name: Pikachu
|Type: Electric
|Level: 10
|Gender: Male
|Ability: Static
|Potential: ★★
|Nature: Adamant
“Dare to look down on me!” Gan cursed this Pikachu to the core, but he had no time to get into a conflict with it.
Ignoring the Pikachu, he continued on until he arrived at the location of the scream. Unknowingly, he was being followed by that Pikachu, who wanted to watch what would happen. Gan crept through the bushes with Geodude and they both peered through them.
What Gan saw next turned his face ghastly, then he turned and vomited on the spot. All of his breakfast from before was gone just like that.
The scene that greeted him was gruesome. One man was badly mutilated, while the other had three gaping holes in his body with one being especially big. The other man had his head removed from his body, his eyes were still wide open when he died!
It looked like his arms were pulled off first, then his head was removed from his shoulders. The scream certainly came from this man before his head was cut off; silencing him for good!
Usually Geodude as a Pokemon was made fun of as having nothing but rocks for brains. However, they were by no means stupid, it understood just by looking at the dead humans. It understood Gan’s reaction to the situation, his kin was dead and his reaction was natural.
Geodude hovered over and started patting Gan’s back, it was all it could do to cheer him up. But Gan wasn’t grieving, he was shocked at the scene more than anything else. He had never seen a dead human before, and surely not a mutilated one!
Gan seemed dizzy, but he steeled himself; he told Geodude to prepare, he even summoned Koffing again. Gan walked out because the man still had his Pokeball in his cold stiff hand; they both had Pokeballs on them.
Gan covered his mouth as he reached to take their Pokeballs. Just as he grabbed them, he heard some buzzing in the distance, it was getting closer and louder.
“Pika pika!” The Pikachu from before started freaking out and jumping up and down, it was warning Gan to get out of there!
At that moment, 5 Beedrill appeared out of the forest leaking killing intent! They were armed to the teeth with bladed limbs and a huge stinger to boot. This was surely the killing move used on the other man, he seemed to have died quickly.
|Name: Beedrill
|Type: Bug/Poison
|Level: 12
|Gender: Male
|Ability: Swarm
|Potential: ★★★
|Nature: Serious
|Moves: Twineedle| Fury Attack| Poison Sting| Bug Bite|
“Bzzzz!” The group spotted Gan right away; him and his Pokemon.
Gan sighed in relief, but he couldn’t afford for any of these guys to attack him.
“Geodude, RockSlide, and Koffing, use Flamethrower!” Gan didn’t hesitate, he couldn’t afford being attacked or them getting into any formations to attack him.
Beedrill wasn’t stupid, but their attitudes and aggressive behavior made them dimwitted most of the time. This was also stemmed from their confidence since they usually attacked in large numbers.
The idiots ran right into the flamethrower and dropped to the ground immediately, while some were nailed by the barrage of rocks tumbling out of the void.
It was just as Gan had speculated; they had brawned for brains!
“No strategy, just an all-out attack with no coordination.” Gan nodded and tossed 5 PokeBalls at the group of Beedrill.
Gan now had 35 PokeBalls, and Geodude had leveled up again; this time to level 16! He was one step away from reaching level 17; this was a good farming spot for now!
“Dangerous, but as long as we take them down beforehand, it shouldn’t be too bad.” Gan didn’t know what to do with the bodies, so he had Koffing incinerate them, of course, he didn’t watch the process.
Gan turned and looked up into the trees, he could see that the Pikachu from before was shocked.
