Pokemon: Ultimate Generations - Chapter 44
Gan waited in the seating area he was told to reside in; this place didn’t have anyone present but him. The series of traffic hadn’t come yet, but as the old man said back in Pewter City, it was only a matter of time.
Gan’s wait was a bit longer than when he waited back in Pewter before the woman came back to the room to guide him. “Sorry for the long wait, Misty was busy helping a few swimmers so I had to wait for a little.”
“No problem, all that matters is that I can battle her.” Gan didn’t care how long he waited, as long as he could battle her at some point. The Gyms were opened, and he wanted to take advantage of that before they filled up with challengers.
“I see, it been a while so I’m actually really excited to spectate. I suggest you be careful, you may have beaten that perve… I mean Brock from Pewter City, but Misty of Cerulean is different.” The woman seemed to idolize Misty, clearly, but Gan didn’t react.
“I’ll be sure to remember that, and tread carefully.” Gan nodded slightly.
In less than a minute, they arrived in another room, to be exact, it was a Pokemon Battlefield. The Battlefield was blue, with water going around the entire thing.
Gan looked ahead and instantly spotted an orange headed woman—this could be no one else but Misty. She wore dark blue shorts that neared her thɨġhs while sporting a white tank top that revealed her belly buŧŧon, she was also bȧrėfooted.
Misty stood in place with her hands on both her hɨps, with a smile on her face. Gan reverted his attention to the stances, there were people spectating the fight like Pewter City. This time, however, there were more people; at least 30 of them!
Gan clicked his tongue, why couldn’t battles be private?
“Welcome, Challenger. I’m glad to see that there’s someone challenging the League, it has seriously been a while.” Misty greeted Gan with a friendly tone.
“Glad to be here.” Gan only grinned.
“That’s good. Please, come forward and insert the amount of Pokemon and the Pokemon you want to use in that machine.” As soon Misty said these words—a machine came out of the floor as it did back in Pewter City.
Gan quickly put both the Pokemon he wanted to use inside the machine. A light ran over the Pokeballs, and moments later some woman came out of some double doors and handed Misty 2 Pokeballs.
Gan removed his Pokeballs and prepared for the battle to come.
“Trainer, I didn’t catch your name, what was it?” Misty asked with a smirk, she seemed prepared to toss her Pokeball.
‘You never asked me in the first place.’
“It’s Gan.” He said with a nod.
“Gan! You’re the first in a long while, so you won’t be as fortunate as those of the past. So, I’ll have to go hard on you since it has been a while.”
“Staryu, I choose you!” Misty smiled and tossed her Pokeball enthusiastically.
“I wasn’t expecting you to go easy on me, anyway!” Gan did the same and tossed his Pokeball.
“Hiya!” Staryu was the first to appear, then Gan’s Pokemon appeared; Nidorina.
“Oh, I’ve seen many trainers using this type of Pokemon against me.” Misty nodded, this Pokemon wasn’t new to her at all; she had beaten several Nidorina’s before.
“Well, mine is different.” Gan then took the time to appraise Misty’s Staryu.

“Damn! Nidorina, use Leer on it!” Nidorina’s eyes went wide, as they lit up with yellow light. Staryu immediately had a stat change, as its defense dropped by a stage.
“Not bad, but… Swift Attack, Staryu” Misty pointed at Nidorina and declared.
“Nidorina run from the attack, don’t let it hit you!” Nidorina acted quickly and started running on her hind legs to evade the attack.
Nidorina wasn’t the fastest, and there was simply no way to dodge swift; It was an unavoidable attack! Nidorina ran around the battlefield trying to escape as best it could, but the swift attack had locked onto her; they eventually caught up and hit her.
“Nido~!” A somewhat feminine voice was heard when she was hit. But she was still able to shrug the attack off with little effort. Unfortunately, it couldn’t be dodged and attacks like that would be crucial later if it was impossible to get away from them.
“Crap! I should have taught her Protect!” Gan could have Nidorina use Protect every time Misty wanted to use swift, then he wouldn’t have to worry about this move.
“You move pretty fast, but I think we’ll have to slow that down a bit. Go, attack!” Staryu flung itself through the air like a frisbee.
Nidorina didn’t move because Gan had not issued a command. There was no worry in Nidorina’s expression, though. Gan knew what type of Pokemon most—if not all the Gym Leaders would use in battle.
Gan had relayed a few things to Nidorina, Nidorino, and a few of his other Pokemon about this, so she had somewhat expected this type of attack.
“Now! Use it!” Gan never said what move, but Nidorina seemed to already know what move to use.
Staryu came in fast, seamlessly looking like a blur, it was almost unseeable to the human eye! Nidorina focused as best as she could and jumped toward Staryu to attack. Nidorina sent a kick toward Staryu; she was trying to use the move Double Kick on it.
Unfortunately, she was just too slow and missed her mark. Nidorina’s expression showed great change.
“Thunder Wave! Let’s slow her down a bit.” Misty didn’t even get to finish her sentence when Staryu had already used the move. Gan wanted to have Nidorina dodge, but how could she when she was in mid-air?
ZzzzZ!
A yellow electric current came out of Staryu’s body and engulfed Nidorina, who was starting to show some panic. This was her first true battle, so she really wasn’t experienced; this was why most of Gan’s Pokemon freaked when attacked.
Nidorina landed on the ground, catching her balance. She could feel the electric current flowing through her body, she knew overtime it would disappear but that would take 24 hours if it wasn’t cured.
It was truly interfering with her speed, she was far slower now!
“Water Pulse! Cool her down now!” Misty punched out and gave her command. Staryu’s body spun, then it launched 3 hoop pulses of water.
“Quick, get out of the way, then rush over to attack her with Poison Sting!” Gan could see the dire situation, but he wouldn’t give up, obviously.
Nidorina had been slowed, but this didn’t stop her movements entirely. The paralysis would slow her, but she would completely freeze up if the static lashed out in her body.
Nidorina ran to the side to dodge the Water Pulses, they missed and slammed onto the battlefield with great force. This move looked harmless, but getting hit was no joke; it would be like getting hit with high pressured water!
Nidorina didn’t have a horn she could use like her male counterpart, so she used the spikes on her back or her tail for Poison Sting.
“Haha, Staryu, use Rapid Spin! She’s too close.” Misty smiled and said.
Nidorina lunged herself at Staryu again; the tip of the spikes on her body and her tail was glowing with a tint of purple. Staryu did its thing and spun the minute Nidorina got close enough; making contact with her body and knocking her away.
Nidorina was blown away, but not far, she landed on her feet again but Staryu had received a Speed boost, which wasn’t good. Misty was fairly deadly because her Pokemon were all fast, this was especially so for her last Pokemon to come.
Brock’s Pokemon were slow, so Gan probably wouldn’t have much of a hard time as he would with fast Pokemon like Staryu. The worse of it was that she had taught her Pokemon TMs; Gym battles surely wouldn’t be a walk in the park.
At that moment, Gan saw a purple blush appear on Staryu’s body, it was poisoned! Gan knew this was Nidorina’s ability, Poison Point. Misty noticed this crisis right away, she could see Staryu’s body fully.
“Dang it, I knew there was something annoying about these Pokemon!” She finally remembered that certain Nidorina and Nidorino secreted poisonous fluids from their bodies, so it was best not to come into contact with them.
“Oh, no, it looks like Staryu’s going to feel the burn soon.” Gan smiled.
“It won’t matter, your mouse would have already been defeated by then.” Misty smiled back.
“We’ll see about that! Double Kick Staryu right on its big jewel!” Gan quickly gave his orders; the more Staryu moved, the more the poisoned grew.
“Don’t let it get close, use thunderbolt!” Misty flung out her arm and said seriously.
Many people were spectating happily, more had actually shown at an unknown time.
“Dodge it and continue!” Gan said happily.
At that moment, an electric current circulated over Nidorina’s body, and she came to a halt. Her eyes wide from shock, this was the effects of Thunder Wave! Misty only grinned, then Nidorina was hit directly with the Thunderbolt.
“EEEEK!” Nidorina was shot back, rolling across the battlefield with her body fuming with smoke from the thunderbolt.
Staryu didn’t seem so well itself, you couldn’t see its ‘expression’ but its limbs were moving slow compare to before when it seemed energetic.
Nidorina was about to stand up when she was hit with a Water Pulse, she was thrown about again; this time she fell in the water around the battlefield.
“Nidorina!” Gan called out for her, but she didn’t emerge.
“Staryu, go check it out.” Just when Misty commanded to check on Nidorina, she actually surfaced from the water. However, there were those strange swirls in her eyes, she had clearly fainted from the last attack.
“Dang it, well, it’s whatever.” Gan sighed and recalled Nidorina.
Misty only smiled, then she started to evaluate Staryu’s condition.
Gan held his last Pokeball, then he tossed it to reveal…. Machop!
