Pokemon: Ultimate Generations - Chapter 47
Gan snuck his way into the tall grass; some parts of this grassy area was short, while some were tall and hard to see through. However, Haunter was able to detect all the Pokemon in the surroundings, it could even spy and sneak up on them.
Gan asked Haunter where the Pokemon were, this would make things much easier. He started to describe what Pokemon he was looking for to Haunter. The first Pokemon he wanted to catch was a Venonat.
Gan was thinking of having Geodude use Sandstorm, but that would only blind him by getting in his eyes. This Sandstorm would also be noticed, it would surely cause a commotion since the radius would be nearing the bridge.
“Haunt, Haunt…” Haunter nodded and looked around, its eyes seemed sharp as if it could see everything. Haunter pointed into an area, indicating that it had found the Pokemon Gan describe.
“Lead the way…” Gan said with a grin.
Haunter laughed and floated in that direction, while Gan and Geodude followed closely behind. In a matter of seconds, they arrived near Pokemon that was targeted. Gan knew he was going to be using Haunter and Ghastly a lot; they could be really good for stealing and spying.
…
|Name: Venonat
|Level: 11
|Gender: Male
|Ability: Tinted Lens
|Potential: ★
|Nature: Hasty
|Moves: SuperSonic| Disable| Foresight| Tackle| Confusion|
…
Gan didn’t waste any time, he commanded Haunter to use Mean Look to prevent it from escaping. Venonat could hear Gan calling out, it looked once but it was already hit by Mean Look. This was sort of a mental attack, tricking the Pokemon into believing that there was no escape for it.
Venonat saw that it couldn’t run, so it could only fight. Venonat bounced over to tackle Haunter, but Haunter didn’t move as Venonat passed right through its body.
“The minute it attacks you again, use Sucker Punch.” Gan watched and said.
Sure enough, Venonat didn’t give up and tried to attack again when a fist came out of the void and connected with its body. All it took was one hit to defeat it; Gan casually threw a Pokeball at it and caught it.
“On to the next target…” Gan began to describe a few more targets, while Haunter did its thing to seek them out. The next target was a Meowth that was at Lv 12, it was also defeated and caught in the same manner.
Psyduck also appeared, but as soon as it saw Gan and his Pokemon, it turned to run towards the water close by. Right then, black laser came from Haunter’s eyes and connected with each other to create one signal beam; this attack connected with Psyduck—taking heavy damage.
Gan knew how weak these Pokemon were in this area, so he wasn’t worried after confirming this fact.
“Another one bites the dust, onto the next.” Gan ran into the same Pokemon often but didn’t bother with them. He even summoned Gastly to help, he didn’t have any thought of battling a Pokemon in a fair one-on-one.
Gastly despited the light and so did Haunter, but Haunter could tolerate it as to where—Gastly couldn’t for long periods of time. Gan began to describe Squirtle, its shell, light blue in color, and a small turtle.
Haunter looked around for a while, but no matter what, it couldn’t detect this Pokemon anywhere. Gan thought for a moment and decided to check the little river out since it was teaming with water Pokemon.
It didn’t take him long to arrive, he could even see the Nugget Bridge from his position. Gan stared at the water, but there were no signs of life.
“Hmm, this is a little risky, I don’t want anything to happen to it, but it’s my best option right now.” Gan sighed and tossed a Pokeball; revealing his level 19 Magikarp. Once it appeared, it swam over near the shore where Gan was—awaiting its orders.
“Karp…Magikarp~…” Magikarp said with a stiff expression.
“I’m gonna need you to scout the area to lead a few Pokemon over this way. Haunter here will be hovering over the water and watching out for you.” Gan explained briefly, this was the best way he could think of in drawing water Pokemon over.
“Karp…Karp!” Magikarp turned and dove into the water.
Gan was worried because Magikarp was fair game for most Pokemon, this included Squirtle and Tentacool. Right as he was thinking this, the water someway away began to move; drawing Geodude and Gan’s attention.
Gan didn’t see it at first until Geodude made him aware of it. At that moment, a Pokemon emerged from the water slowly. Its body was pink, its mouth and eyes were wide open, it looked at Gan once, then ignored him to rest somewhere near the border of the river.
“Slow…poke…” Gan was a little speechless with its carefree attitude. As much as Gan wanted to combat this Pokemon, he needed to focus on what he was originally doing. Ghastly stayed back in the tall grassy part, it wasn’t a fan of all this light.
So, Gan continued to look over the water where Haunter was flying over. He could see people pointing at Haunter from the bridge, it was pretty far, so he couldn’t see their expressions. He waited for a while; there was no activity, this caused Gan a bit of worry seeing this.
Gan had started to send the Psyduck to scout but decided otherwise. He squared up Haunter from afar, he was glad that Haunter started to cooperate instead of continuously playing pranks.
Right as he was thinking this, the water shifted and drew Gan, Haunter, and Geodude’s attention. Slowpoke just lazily sat on a rock doing nothing, it laid flat on its stomach with the same stiff expression; watching the water as if it was on vacation.
“KARP…KARP~!” Magikarp’s cries were loud as if it was in danger. Gan confirmed this when he saw another silhouette following it. Eventually, it revealed its face to be a Goldeen, its body was distinguishable, as its horn stuck out of the water like a shark’s dorsal fin.
|Name: Goldeen
|Type: Water
|Level: 19
|Gender: Male
|Ability: Water Veil
|Potential: ★★
|Nature: Bold
|Moves: SuperSonic| Peck| Horn Attack| Tailwhip| WaterPulse|
…
Gan was speechless for a second before commanding Haunter to hit it with a Nightshade. Goldeen took notice of Haunter and dove into the water to dodge. Unfortunately, Goldeen’s chase didn’t stop and it soon caught up with Magikarp.
Haunter was left scratching its head after its failed attack, but it soon came to itself and started hovering over toward Magikarp again. Goldeen’s horn connected with Magikarp and knocked it flying into another part of the river.
“KAAARRRP~!”
“Damn it…” Gan was a bit helpless to help Magikarp, he couldn’t send reliable reinforcements to aid Magikarp since no one could swim. He was thinking of recalling Magikarp, but Magikarp’s hard scales didn’t cause it any harm from the attack.
Magikarp’s expression was the same, but it was honestly scared out its wits dealing with this enemy. Magikarp traveled in schools, so whoever was the slowest was out of luck; this wasn’t the same here, it was all alone.
Haunter continued to attack where she could see Goldeen’s Silouhette but to no avail. Magikarp continued to swim as fast as it could, several other Magikarp that it had seen before had long left.
Right then, multiple water rings launched out of Goldeen’s horn, they grew stronger underwater. This attack swept Magikarp away, it had no attacks besides Tackle and that was very useless.
Magikarp hung in the middle of all things, it wasn’t moving; as if it had appeared to have fainted. Goldeen was elated, then it quickly charged over towards Magikarp to hit it with another Horn Attack.
Right as it was about to attack, Magikarp opened its eyes swiftly. Magikarp’s eyes had turned bloodshot, then it started chanting its name frantically before its body lit up in bright white light.
Goldeen paused, it didn’t seem to understand what was going on.
But Goldeen’s expression started to change drastically, this was because Magikarp’s figure was growing in mass—something it had never seen before.
The light from all of these events could be seen over the water, it was even noticeable to the people on the bridge. Gan didn’t know what was going on, but his Pokedex suddenly vibrated; this meant a new entry had been added to his Pokedex.
Once he looked to see his Pokedex, he could only smile. Magikarp’s misfortune had turned into its fortune, and it evolved. Haunter hovered away, but it didn’t stop looking at the light over the water.
“Roar~!!” Gyarados’ cries could be heard despite being underwater, it had traveled far so everyone heard it.
Gyarados’ roar had caused a commotion on the bridge, there were no Gyarados in this river. Usually, when Magikarp felt like it was getting strong enough, it would Migrate to a Larger gulf of water and prepare to evolve.
Gyarados glared furiously at Goldeen, who was still shocked.
