Post-apocalyptic World: Stockpile Ten Billion Supplies at the Beginning - Chapter 131
Ye Gaofei’s base.
Ye Gaofei was welcoming a small group of people with a smile. He didn’t mind the small number of people, nor did he care about the quality of those who came. Anyone was welcome.
Ye Gaofei smiled and said, “Everyone who comes here is a brother.”
Long Yu rushed over and said, “Gaofei, let me take half of the people to kill zombies. The zombies are constantly evolving, and we should eliminate them as soon as possible.”
Long Yu’s idea was similar to that of Mi Li; he believed that they couldn’t let the zombies continue to evolve and had to eliminate them as soon as possible. With an average of dozens of zombies per person, they could clean them up efficiently.
The idea was somewhat naive, but Long Yu thought it was better than waiting to die. They could at least kill as many zombies as possible.
Ye Gaofei agreed to Long Yu’s proposal. After all, Long Yu was supportive of him, and he shared his Level 6 crystal with Ye Gaofei.
Yh Gaofei then brought in his follower, Han Ya. Han Ya had excellent potential, which was why YehGaofei had chosen her. He had also slept with her afterward.
So, Han Ya was Ye Gaofei’s number one lackey.
Ye Gaofei frowned and said, “Long Yu, there are still many people who don’t accept my authority, and you’re well aware of that. Besides, we need to conserve our strength.”
“Last time, how many people attended the trade fair? Not even enough to fill a district. My plan is to consolidate our manpower, and then, with an overwhelming numerical advantage, sweep through the entire Divine Capital and unite all the survivors here. Only then will we focus on killing zombies.”
Ye Gaofei estimated that after dealing with this area, he would have at least twenty thousand people at his disposal. Who could compete with him at that point? He wanted to dominate the Divine Capital and become its ruler.
He understood that some people were like dead weight. First-level survivors were essentially wasting resources. He knew this, but he still accepted them, just to boost the numbers. He needed to show himself as a benevolent figure and a savior.
When the plan was complete, everyone would be tasked with killing zombies. Those who dared to kill zombies would be his brothers, and those who didn’t dare would not.
Eliminating all the deadweight would leave only the elite, the true brothers.
Long Yu was surprised and said, “How long will this take? Do we have enough resources to sustain so many people? By the time your plan is completed, the zombies might evolve again. What use do these first and second-level survivors have, apart from being cannon fodder?”
“The gap between third and fourth-level survivors is not something you’re unaware of. If the zombies evolve again in a month, they’ll be in trouble.”
Ye Gaofei smiled and replied, “Resources are not an issue; we’ll sustain ourselves through battles. Look at these newly joined groups; they all bring the resources they’ve acquired with them, which should be enough for now.”
“Sustaining ourselves through battles?”
Long Yu instantly understood. They were planning to absorb the resources of others temporarily, providing for the first-level survivors or those who were afraid to fight zombies.
Long Yu was against taking in these first-level survivors and had suggested they earn resources by killing zombies. However, Ye Gaofei had refused that idea.
Wasn’t this a form of self-destruction?
Han Ya was displeased and said, “Long Yu, don’t think that by contributing your crystals, you can question Gaofei. He’s the leader, and he undoubtedly has his reasons for what he’s doing, and he won’t be wrong.”
Long Yu was somewhat dissatisfied but didn’t want to argue with Han Ya and cause internal strife.
Long Yu said, “Then let me take the third-level survivors and some second-level survivors to kill zombies. We need to acquire resources and crystals somehow.”
Ye Gaofei immediately rejected the idea without much consideration. He couldn’t afford to lose the third-level survivors, who were his elite troops. Others could be sacrificed, but not them.
Long Yu was left bewildered. Were they going to continue like this and eventually deplete all their resources?
Han Ya urged him, “Go on, whoever is willing to go with you, take them.”
Long Yu, feeling frustrated, began recruiting people.
Within the base, survivors were categorized based on their power levels, directly using their abilities as a benchmark.
Long Yu first went to the first-level zone, where the survivors were the most suited for combat.
These people lay on the ground in the stifling heat, their spirits drained, their eyes vacant, resembling livestock more than humans. When they saw Long Yu, one of them perked up slightly and asked, “Is it mealtime?”
Long Yu asked, “Who is willing to join me in killing zombies?”
There was a collective sigh of disappointment. No matter how persuasively Long Yu spoke, it was futile.
“If I dared to kill zombies, would I still be at level one now?” someone muttered sarcastically.
Long Yu sighed; what use were these people if they refused to contribute?
He then moved to the second-level zone.
“No way, Long Yu bro! Let me be honest, we’re sitting pretty here, getting food without risking our lives. Why should we risk our lives to get resources for those useless people?” one of them replied.
Long Yu could feel his frustration growing. What use were these people if they were unwilling to help secure resources?
“There’s food here either way; only a fool would go,” someone remarked.
“We have to hand over all the obtained resources for fair distribution, even though we’re second level, the good stuff never comes our way.”
Then to the third-level zone.
“Long Yu bro, our task is to guard the base. What if we run into an ambush outside? Besides, we can’t just go without Brother Ye Gaofei’s orders.”
Although there were over forty people willing to accompany Long Yu to kill zombies, it was still a small fraction compared to the overall population.
Long Yu felt disheartened. This situation was far from what he had expected. First, Ye Gaofei had said that the trade fair was ending, and now he was talking about consolidating the whole city. Would the next step be to consolidate the entire country?
Killing zombies was necessary, and as Long Yu walked to the door, a man who was sobbing uncontrollably approached him. He held the lifeless body of a woman, covered in dirt and already in a state of decomposition.
“Brother Long Yu, please help me. Three days ago, I went out to kill zombies with you, and when I returned, my wife went missing. Someone secretly informed me that I found her in a pit, and it was Yu Lingjie who did it.”
Long Yu was aware of such incidents. Men went out to kill zombies, leaving their wives behind, and upon returning, the women would be missing. This was just one of many cases of beautiful women disappearing within the base.
Long Yu knew about Yu Lingjie, a level-three ability user.
Long Yu’s eyes sharpened. “Are you sure?”
The man sobbed, “If the information was wrong, would I have been able to find my wife? This damned guy, he’s completely devoid of humanity.”
Long Yu took a deep breath and walked toward the level-three zone with an icy expression.
As a level-four ability user, his hearing was sharp, and he overheard some disturbing words coming from a nearby house.
“Haha, what a pity, she died before I could have more fun. Guess I’ll have to find another one.”
Long Yu clenched his fists, and just as he was about to burst in and interrogate Yu Lingjie, Ye Gaofei arrived.
Reports of the incident at the residential area entrance had reached him, prompting him to rush over immediately to prevent any potential trouble.
Upon seeing Ye Gaofei, Yu Lingjie seemed to have found a savior, gazing at him with pleading eyes.
Long Yu’s expression turned somewhat ferocious. “I heard it all. Shouldn’t someone like this be put to death?”
Ye Gaofei replied calmly, “Although Yu Lingjie has made mistakes, his crimes don’t warrant death. His value is much greater than others. He can help kill more zombies in the future, so let him make amends for his actions.”
Long Yu sneered, “In terms of value? I suppose my value is greater than his then. Right now, I want to kill him.”
Terrified, Yu Lingjie pleaded, “Brother Fei, save me! I’ve been taking the blame for you!”
