Post-apocalyptic World: Stockpile Ten Billion Supplies at the Beginning - Chapter 143
“Chen Luo, you’re finished.”
This statement had genuinely terrified Chen Luo. If someone else had said it, he would have dismissed it, but it was a prophecy from the mystical Rice, and that made all the difference.
It couldn’t be true. How could he, the Void King, be finished? In his past life, he had faced countless dangers and bizarre creatures, none of which had been able to kill him. Now, in just over three months into the apocalypse, there was supposedly something that could end him?
Even against King-tier beings, he had managed to escape. But Rice had issued a death sentence.
Chen Luo didn’t have time to address Zhao Hai’s concerns. He needed to urgently find out from Rice how to avert this threat. While others could sense events that would happen in the next ten minutes, Chen Luo had the ability to sense events up to half an hour ahead. This meant that the danger would manifest in approximately half an hour.
Chen Luo clasped his hands together and said, “Rice, please tell me more.”
Rice began to concentrate deeply, taking a long breath before speaking, “I sense that you’re on the verge of death, but there seems to be an astonishing benefit hidden within this extreme danger.”
Rice could only perceive the end result and not the detailed process leading to the danger. For example, in the case where Zhao Hai had mentioned a terrifying zombie, it was highly probable that the danger came from that source.
A hundred meters away in the blink of an eye, and using wind blades?
It had to be, at the very least, a Level 7 Wind Mutation, or else it wouldn’t be capable of such speed.
This zombie, it’s actually coming after me?
Chen Luo furrowed his brows. He didn’t remember encountering such a zombie before.
Maybe it’s a butterfly effect. At this point in my past life, I had already been forced out of the villa area, and the surroundings had drastically changed because of my actions.
Astounding benefits?
Although Level 7 or Level 8 crystals offer significant benefits, they don’t qualify as astounding benefits for me.
Could it be that it’s a King-level Mutation, and just as it’s about to kill me, it suddenly drops dead, and I get to reap the rewards?
It seems like that might be the case.
Chen Luo asked, “What about Mi Li and Mi Ling, are they in danger?”
Rice shook its head and replied, “No.”
Chen Luo didn’t bother asking about the ordinary members. Even if he did, it wouldn’t change their fate unless Rice said otherwise.
Zhao Hai, Song Ling, and the others sat by the roadside, chain-smoking.
Lately, they’d been experiencing one misfortune after another. First, there was the encounter with Ye Gaofei, and then they faced off against the Mutant. Fortunately, they were all still alive.
Chen Luo appeared not far from the entrance, holding Rice.
Mi Li were returning from their zombie hunting mission and would be back soon.
Five minutes later, with Su Dazhu leading the way, Mi Li returned, chatting and laughing.
As they were about to enter the base, a sudden change occurred.
A young man, covered in blood with blood-red eyes and a wind swirling around him, approached the villa area. He stared at Mi Li and Mi Ling with an interested expression.
The members on guard noticed him and, with good eyesight, immediately asked loudly, “Who are you, and what are you doing here?”
Due to the limited angle, Chen Luo didn’t see it immediately but became alert upon hearing the voice and headed towards the entrance.
The young man sneered and didn’t respond. He created a gust of wind with a wave of his hand. In less than two seconds, he appeared at the entrance of the base.
The young man’s palm looked slightly black, and he swung his hand towards the guards at the gate. Suddenly, sharp winds surged toward them.
With two consecutive swipes, more than a dozen guards were pierced by the sharp winds, torn apart like they’d been stabbed by sharp knives.
Upon hearing the commotion, Mi Li, Mi Ling , and Su Dazhu turned back and witnessed the gruesome scene of the guards being slaughtered in an instant.
Chen Luo’s heart sank. He didn’t tell the three of them to run because it was evident they couldn’t escape the pursuit of this wind-type zombie.
Chen Luo casually threw Rice aside and, sensing the danger, began to condense his Void Sword.
With Void Walk, Chen Luo appeared behind the wind-type zombie, intending to cleave it in half with the Void Sword.
At level seven, the body would start to develop some resistance to spatial power, so it wasn’t as easy to instantly kill a zombie as Chen Luo might have wanted.
Void Walk, coupled with the Void Sword, was not unbeatable. Otherwise, how would Chen Luo have struggled against Mi Ling in his previous life?
With a higher level, even if the body was severed in two, it wouldn’t necessarily lead to death. Powerful vitality could allow them to continue living.
However, Chen Luo estimated that this zombie was probably level seven. If it were an elemental type, one swing might not be enough to kill it, but a few more strikes would certainly do the job.
During this process, he might get injured, which explained what Rice meant by there being a life-threatening danger but not necessarily fatal.
This was a young zombie with an unrefined use of wind-based abilities, and its combat experience and skills were rudimentary. Even when it sensed Chen Luo behind it, it didn’t react quickly enough to create a wind shield to defend itself, or perhaps, it didn’t know how.
Chen Luo’s Void Sword, as usual, sliced through the zombie’s neck, but to his horror, it barely made a dent, not cutting deep enough.
Several strikes wouldn’t be enough to kill it.
“Damn, is it level eight or nine?”
How the hell am I supposed to deal with this?
The advanced version of the Void Sword, the Dimensional Sword, was out of the question. It required an even higher level of spatial power than Chen Luo currently possessed to condense.
This would require a King-level ability.
In the past, when encountering such zombies, Chen Luo would simply run, as they couldn’t catch up to him.
But now…
The wind-type zombie sensed someone behind it and turned around, landing a heavy slap on the bewildered Chen Luo’s arm, sending him flying.
Chen Luo’s arm was instantly broken.
The wind-type zombie seemed to disdain Chen Luo and continued to advance toward Mi Ling and Mi Li.
Chen Luo, clutching his injured arm, could only think of one option: attempting to use Void Walk to take Mi Ling, Mi Li, and Su Dazhu with him. However, this was a skill he had not mastered and could only rely on luck to trigger.
With no other choice, he had to try.
Chen Luo arrived in front of the three of them in an instant and tried to envelop them in the Void, but he failed. He could only run by himself.
Mi Li and the others continued to flee, trying to evade the wind-type zombie’s pursuit. However, was there any hope of escape? It seemed impossible. The wind-type zombie’s hand was about to grab Mi Li’s neck.
Mi Li…
Could it be that I’m still unable to avoid the same lonely fate as in my previous life?
Chen Luo used Void Walking to reach Mi Li and blocked the way, staring at the wind-type zombie.
Now, there was one more option: waiting for the mutation-type zombie’s lifespan to expire, causing it to suddenly die.
Chen Luo desperately wished for the zombie to die quickly.
Chen Luo’s emotions were fluctuating wildly, and the crystals in his mind underwent a mysterious change.
Suddenly, the wind-type zombie seemed to experience time acceleration, not just a doubling of speed. It was as if time itself had been fast-forwarded countless times.
Time acceleration.
The wind-type zombie collapsed to the ground.
In Chen Luo’s mind, the crystals had almost completely shattered, and he fell to the ground as well.
