Princess Lyn: Fleeting Dreams - Chapter 548
Then again, perhaps that man also noticed it, her lack of understanding and empathy towards others’ emotions. He most likely thought he could take advantage of her that way. Lyn sighed deeply. No doubt that by now, Allen would have found out. She could already see the reaction on his face. Even though he does not see her as a woman, she knew this would offend him.
“By the way, before the fight, you never answered my question. I asked you about sir Rhys.”
“About Kazuya.” Lyn trails off, “That’s right you did. I’m glad we got interrupted.”
“Why?”
“Because right at that moment when you asked me, I didn’t exactly have an answer. However, after the fight, something came to mind. If the time comes, then I will leave Rhys to you.”
She watched as a puzzled expression appeared on his face. It appears as though he did not expect this.
“It almost sounds like you’re pushing all the work on to me.”
“Eh? I would never do that.”
“No, it’s something you would do.”
Lyn laughed. It seems like this person is gradually getting used to her.
“Just saying those words alone must be confusing, though. Could you watch over Rhys for me? Because for sure, when Kazuya comes back, I will be stick to him like glue and lavis him with affection that he hasn’t received in a long time.”
“Does that mean you will break-”
Lyn’s gaze softens as she interjected. “Indeed, I probably won’t be able to watch over him properly. I won’t suddenly start neglecting him, but it won’t be the same as before when Kazuya returns. That’s something I have always kept in the forefront of my mind. I guess you could say I constantly repeated those words to remind myself not to get lost in the moment.”
She always reminded herself not to go along with the flow. No matter how happy she is with Rhys now, Lyn understood the nature of this relationship. This thin borderline can break anytime.
“Rhys, you see, actually isn’t as strong as people make him out to be. I really shouldn’t be telling you all of this, but considering how you’ll be watching over him when Kazuya returns, I can tell you this much. A lot happened with his family, and even now, he’s still affected by it.
Even though he acts that way now in balls, I know that the elite world is a place that suffocates him rather than makes him happy. Even if all those jewels and people surround him, he is very lonely. The burden he’s carrying may not be as big as mine, but it’s a burden regardless.”
Those people forced him out of the palace at such a young age. He then fought for survival for so many years. It is only natural for him to dislike anything to do with nobles or elite society.Find authorized novels in , faster updates, better experience, Please click #.._51883661376671951 for visiting.
“Lieutenant, like you, have been with me but completely different. I want you to take care of him.”
“As you command, Princess.”
“Mmm …” Lyn trails off. “By the way, those bags…”
She watched as his face color turned pale. “… I’m late back…what about dinner? What did those guys do?”
Lyn chuckle. “Don’t worry, and I’m sure they found another alternative.
But we shouldn’t let those ingredients go to waste, right?”
Teo sighed. “Very well, but you are resting on the couch the entire time.”
“Ehh, but how can I participate in the games?”
“We will crowd around you. You are not to move at all! Your foot injury has gotten worse.”
Lyn’s sweat fell when she heard those words. “Did Pupilliam tell you?”
“No need. I noticed it.”
This is a lot of fun, and yet her gaze fell on the skies. She wonders right now what that person is up to.
….
Early next morning, she received a letter with the Mist Kingdom elite academy’s seal summoning her. She knew mother sent a request for her to visit awhile back, but this was rather short notice. Still, Lyn promptly got ready and arrived there with fifteen minutes to spare. She did not want to arrive too early as to look overly eager but arriving too late would leave a bad impression.
So Lyn chose the perfect time, and yet Lyn looked around awkwardly. Even though they arranged for the tour today and sent that urgent looking summons notice, it seems to be quite disorganized. Only an hour went by since they led her into the waiting room, but nobody had appeared yet.
A deep sigh escaped her lips. Perhaps she ought to have told the Lieutenant to come with her inside instead of waiting outside. If she knew, it would be like this… Lyn shook her head; as a Princess, she had to conduct herself properly.
Lyn suddenly panicked at the thought. Wait, conduct herself properly as Princess? Can she even do that well? The only reason she has managed it so far is because of Allen. Allen is always there to guide her, but now he is not around.
Before she could panic even more, the doors opened, revealing a man with curly blonde hair and emerald-colored eyes. He wore a white military-looking uniform, except for a red strap across his top.
Lyn blinked once she saw him. She recognized this person, of course. One of the things mother and the general did not censor from the books were high ranking nobles’ profiles. They most likely wanted to make her aware of the people she should not cross.
If she thought about it that way, that meant that mother did not intend to keep her locked away from society.
“Apologies for being tardy. I shall guide you around today. My name is Kujou Souma.”
“It is a pleasure to meet you, I am-” Lyn’s sentence fell short when he kneeled and grabbed her hand. Her eyes widened, startled at the sudden contact but quickly recalled something. Right, this is only appropriate manners.
Kujou kissed her hand, and she immediately shuddered. She felt very disgusted by it, even if it was only for formality. Perhaps she ought to have worn gloves today.
Lyn noticed that his lips lingered on her fingers, and she flinched. This is weird, isn’t it? She ought to pull away.
“Princess Lyn,” Souma said affectionately. “I have wanted to meet you for so long, my dear Princess.”
Lyn could not miss the longing in his words. It would look sweet and romantic to anybody else, but she got a very bad vibe from this person.
