- Chapter 244: A White-Cloaked Mage Intervenes!
The royal carriage’s door opened as it revealed a fifteen-year-old girl wearing a princess dress with a red and yellow color scheme. The girl had long flowing golden blonde hair that was adorned by a silver crown embedded with sapphire jewels.
The princess’ red wine eyes surveyed the surroundings, and after noticing the knights’ corpses riddled on the ground while the knight commander’s body was close to dropping dead, her eyes shrank in fear.
The scent of iron that wafted from the fresh blood of the knights on the ground made the princess almost vomit her lunch.
The knight commander had earlier told her that the magic beast was nothing to be feared and it would easily be taken care of by the royal knights, but it was nothing but a lie to prevent her from worrying about how grave the situation was.
That very knight commander who lied to her was currently near death’s door, yet he still tried his best to stand up and protect her.
The princess was well aware that they lied to her so that she could take shelter inside the carriage until reinforcements arrived. After all, the royal carriage had magic formations inscribed on it so that it could protect itself from the attacks of a High Realm Initial Stage magic beast.
But the princess knew very well that there wouldn’t be any reinforcements since her royal siblings would prefer her to die so that the number of competitors for the throne would lessen.
The fifteen-year-old girl was Alisceon Gaia, the First Princess of Gaia Kingdom. Due to her identity as the first princess, Alisceon knew that her royal siblings wanted her dead, so the royal knight commander’s request for reinforcements must have been intercepted by her royal siblings.
Because of that, Alisceon was well aware that there wouldn’t be any reinforcements, and after the magic barrier broke, she was as good as dead.
Unlike her royal siblings, Alisceon didn’t know any magic spells nor was good at the sword. But that didn’t mean that she didn’t have any talent for learning magic since her talent was quite high as well as her mana.
Because of that, Alisceon traveled to the outskirts of the Mystic Forest with her royal knights to find the old mage living in the Mystic Forest so that she could ask him to become his disciple. But their journey was all for naught as the old mage didn’t want anything to do with the royal bloodline, so he didn’t accept her request.
But that wasn’t the end of her bad luck, as when they traveled back to the Gaia Kingdom, they were attacked by a magic beast at the High Realm Intermediate Stage. The old mage that she wanted as her teacher was at Highest Realm Initial Stage, so if he had accepted her as his disciple, he would have helped her defeat the magic beast but it seemed that her luck was that bad.
In the face of inevitable death, Alisceon could only lament how cruel the world was. Despite being the first royal princess, she couldn’t do anything to change her fate.
Alisceon knew that she couldn’t even escape from the magic beast since she couldn’t outrun a High Realm Initial Stage magic beast, especially when she didn’t know any magic spells to fly or increase her speed.
She didn’t struggle as she only stood straight and waited for the magic beast to break the magic barrier and take her life. After all, the knight commander had already died of blood loss, and she knew that she was next.
The sound of the magic barrier cracking reverberated in the forest as the magic formation was already depleted of mana, so there wasn’t any mana to supply and maintain the magic barrier.
Hearing the crack of the magic barrier, the magic beast increased its attack speed as it kept on slashing its sharp claws towards the magic barrier. The magic beast was delighted that it could finally destroy the magic barrier and mangle the human inside the magic barrier.
After several seconds had passed, the magic barrier broke as the fragments of the magic barrier that was made out of mana dissipated into the surroundings.
The magic beast leaped towards Alisceon as she closed her eyes in response, waiting for her impending doom.
1 second… 2 seconds.. 3 seconds…
Yet nothing happened.
Alisceon opened her eyes to see what happened, and she saw the magic beast being stationary in the air with its sharp claws a few inches away from her face. Moving away from the magic beast, Alisceon saw that the magic beast was struggling to move its body, but it couldn’t as she noticed that its body was paralyzed while mana was being used to levitate the magic beast in the air.
Such mana control was something that even the old mage that she wanted as her magic teacher would find difficult to achieve!
Surveying her surroundings, she found four figures walking towards the magic beast, seemingly ignoring her. But the most eye-catching figure of them all was the one wearing a white magic cloak that symbolized his identity as a mage.
Alisceon noticed that the white-cloaked mage was the one who immobilized the movements of the High Realm Intermediate magic beast, which meant that the white-cloaked mage was at least at High Realm Peak Stage or higher!
On top of that, she didn’t hear any incantations being used by the white-cloaked mage when he immobilized the magic beast, and such a feat was only achievable by mages at the Highest Realm Initial Stage or higher!
The only High Realm Initial Stage mage that she knew of was the old mage in the Mystic Forest while the Gaia Kingdom’s royal court mage was at High Realm Intermediate Stage.
So meeting a mage at the Highest Realm Initial Stage or even above was an opportunity for her!
Alisceon knew that, whatever it took, she must become the student of the white-cloaked mage!
