- Chapter 271: Telepathic Chat With Distere Faith
Deus and John needed Allen’s assistance regarding the problems that they couldn’t solve on their own. And since Allen was well aware of that, he didn’t make it difficult for John and Deus as he didn’t hesitate in helping them with this problem.
After all, John and Deus’ failure in completing the sub-task would implicate Allen as well which was something that Allen didn’t want to happen. And with Allen’s assistance, Deus and John were already assured that completing the first sub-task was guaranteed.
So completing the first sub-task was only a matter of time and it couldn’t fail unless countless Heretic Gods besieged them.
With that in mind, the three of them waited for an opportunity to deal with the group of knights and the executioner as the executioner started his speech that went along the lines of “Why this damn heretic has to die”.
Of course, Allen, Deus, and John were getting impatient seeing an old man acting haughtily while rambling on information that they didn’t want to hear about. If it wasn’t for Allen’s patience, he would have already assassinated that damn old man.
But it wasn’t the time yet since Allen needed to let Distere feel despair before he would act as Distere’s salvation. Thus, it would be near impossible for Distere to resist the temptation of joining the chat group unless Distere wanted to die in the first place which was impossible to happen as well.
After all, Distere had personally received a golden finger from Lord Zenchi which meant that he recognized Distere’s worth as a protagonist. So it was unlikely for Lord Zenchi to make a mistake in his recognition of Distere’s worth. Unless Lord Zenchi already foresaw that Distere would die in this world and he would transmigrate to another world after his death which was going to be Distere’s main world.
So Distere’s absence of plot armor must be within Lord Zenchi’s foresight as a Supreme Being. If it wasn’t for Allen and his chat group members, Distere’s plot armor would have already been activated long ago.
But since it didn’t, Allen will take advantage of such an opportunity and he would do it now.
Using his <Supreme Psychic> and <Supreme Telepath> talents, Allen created a telepathic connection with Distere’s mind so that he could start sending messages to Distere telepathically.
And since Allen was going to use psychic power instead of his magic spells, his actions would be left unnoticed by the knights and the executioner since they couldn’t detect psychic energy.
After establishing a telepathic communication or mental link with Distere, Allen sent a telepathic message to him.
Allen: Testing, testing, 1, 2, 3. Distere Faith, can you hear me?
As for Distere who heard Allen’s voice in his mind, his eyes widen in shock as his eyes darted across the group of people that became an audience for his execution.
Distere was tied on a stake and that stake was mounted on top of a stone platform so those group of people that became an audience to witness Distere’s execution were below the platform. While the group of knights and the executioner were on top of the platform, overseeing anyone who would dare try to stop the execution.
The group of knights and the executioner were unaware of Distere’s shocked expression while the audience who saw his expression just thought of it as Distere being shocked that the executioner knew about his misdeeds.
Distere was surveying the audience as he tried to find out the source of the voice in his mind among the group of people. John, Deus, and Allen had already disguised themselves as commoners using Allen’s disguise magic so even if Distere has a third eye, Distere could never see through their disguise.
Seeing that he couldn’t find out the source of the voice in his mind, Distere’s mind was unrest but he still tried to keep his composure.
Distere: Yes, I can hear you. But who are you?
Distere didn’t know who the voice in his mind was since even his system didn’t know about it. Not only that, his system seemed to be incapable of severing the telepathic communication, not to mention tracking the source of the telepathic communication.
So Distere opted to find out the identity of the voice in his mind by simply asking him about it. After all, even if the voice in his mind decided to harm him, Distere had nothing to lose since he was going to die anyway.
It was just a matter of choice of whether he would die at the hands of the voice in his mind or that old man whose personality was as ugly as his face. And for Distere, he chose the former. That was why he was fearless when dealing with the voice in his mind.
Not to mention, the voice in his mind sounded soothing and kind which was pleasing for him to hear especially in such a perilous state.
Allen: Who I am and what I am doesn’t matter. What matters is your answer to my question.
Hearing that the voice in his mind didn’t want to divulge his identity, Distere didn’t mind it, but he was curious as to what his question was. From what Distere could assume, the identity of the person that talked to him in his mind should be a man, considering his masculine voice.
As for what that man wanted to ask him about, Distere could make some guesses and assumptions but it was better to hear it from the man himself rather than making pointless conjectures.
Allen: Do you want to live?
When Distere heard of the man’s question, he was interested in it but that interest later died down after he remembered that he didn’t have anything to offer to that man in return.
Distere already lost his status as the heir of the Faith Family so, in his eyes, he already lost his value. And even if he lived, he could never stay in the Gaia Kingdom since he would be labeled as a criminal.
Allen: You don’t want to live? How can you spread the belief in Lord Zenchi’s omnipotence and omniscience?
When that man mentioned Lord Zenchi, Distere’s interest was maxed out as he only had one thought in his mind.
‘A fellow Zenchian!’
