Promise You a Prosperous Life - C26
Suddenly, one day, Yu Mo said to me dejectedly.
“We might as well send the matter of bone marrow transplants to the local forum. From the looks of the accident, there are a lot of warm-hearted people there. This way, there might be people willing to donate and the chances of finding a suitable match would be greater.”
I was so excited that I wanted to cry. After which, I couldn’t help but ask, “Is it alright?”
Yu Mo Yi nodded.
Following that, Yu Moyi and I wrote a short request for inspiration in Yang Xiaoming’s tone before posting it to the local forum. An hour later, there were actually five to six people who posted it, indicating that they were willing to try it in the hospital.
Hope ignited, and I shed tears, snuggling close to Yu Mo Yi’s arms.
By the time we left for the hospital the next morning, the number of volunteers had increased to nearly twenty. With a grateful heart, Yu Mo Yi and I led these kind-hearted people to the blood drawing room.
Two weeks later, good news came from the hospital. A young man named Huang Haichao had successfully made the cut.
Yu Moyi, Yang Xiaoming and I were very happy. Yang Xiaoming brought a stool for me to sit on for the first time. After that, he clasped his hands together in excitement and bowed deeply towards me and Yumo. He also said that he would go to the police station as soon as the operation was over.
I couldn’t help getting my eyes wet again.
After returning home, I hugged Yu Mo Yi from behind and said sincerely, “If you didn’t come up with this idea, my father really wouldn’t have had the chance to turn the tables on Zhao Xi. So, I thank you, thank you for giving my father and our family hope, I will remember this for the rest of my life.”
Yu Mo turned around and faced me with a serious expression. “I already said you’re not allowed to be courteous, but why did you still say that? Still, you’re the mother, and I’m the father, and we’re family, so we have to share responsibility and work together. So, you don’t need to be like this, and I won’t allow you to be like this.”
I shook my head. “The whole family will fly away when they face a great calamity. I must thank them this time.”
Yu Mo furrowed his brows, no longer bothering with this topic. He went to the kitchen and began preparing the food.
While everyone was still in a state of excitement, something happened to Huang Haichao.
When the hospital called to contact him for surgery, he said his family was worried about health problems and didn’t agree. After that, he hung up and called again, but his phone was always off.
Yu Mo and I sent him numerous messages under the forum post, but there was still no response. Huang Haichao just disappeared like a gust of wind. Finally, the hospital had to cancel the operation plan and things fell into despair once again.
Yang Xiaoming returned to his attitude towards me, and didn’t mention anything about going to the police station. Thinking about the pitiful child on the sickbed, and my father who died in injustice, I curled up on the sofa in the living room.
After this period of travel, I had a rough understanding of the donation of leukemia. I also knew that once the match was successful, I would first have to defeat the child who already had four limbs in my stomach. My heart felt as though it was being cut into pieces.
I took out the little shoes and socks that I had been crocheting for the past few days, clenched them tightly in my hands, and muttered sourly to myself.
“Child, mother has let you down, but mother must do this, please forgive her. Also, if you reincarnate again, you must remember to go to a safe house, then you won’t have to suffer these hardships. Mom will pray for you every day.”
When the tears were about to come, I looked up and held them back. Then I turned and went to the kitchen to cook.
It has been Yu Mo Yi who has been cooking for me all this time. Today, I’m going to cook a meal for him to make up for my decision. Because, I don’t intend to tell him about the blood drawing and matching.
Ever since he knew that I was pregnant, Yu Mo Yi’s nervousness and love towards me was so obvious that it was even extreme. Even now, there was a temporary bed made from two sofas in the bedroom, which was something he thought of to prevent himself from hurting his child. Thus, my decision was tantamount to a serious injury to Yu Mo Yi, and he would never agree to it no matter what.
It was a normal meal, but it took me almost two hours. Luckily, Yu Mo had finished preparing it the moment I stepped into the room.
Yu Mo ignored the food and walked towards me, hugging me tightly. “I’ve already told you that I’m back to cook, so why are you still doing it yourself? Aren’t you tired? After all, you’re still pregnant with our child.”
Yu Mo Yi’s care made me feel deep love again, but at the same time, my heart was aching. I took a deep breath and pretended to be relaxed.
“It’s been almost three months, it’s alright if you do some activities occasionally. Besides, it’s really hard for you to run around at home every day. I feel sorry for you.”
Yu Mo hugged me even more tightly and whispered into my ear, “Wife, you’re so nice.”
I wanted to let him hold me and listen to his voice, but I was afraid I would change my mind if I stayed any longer. I pushed him away.
“The food will get cold soon. Hurry up and wash your hands. How about tasting my cooking skills?”
Yu Mo Yi obediently let go of me and whistled as he went to the washroom. Watching his back, I felt uncomfortable again, but I quickly controlled myself and started to fill the bowl with rice.
As soon as Yu Mo came back and sat down to take a bite, he gave me an exaggerated thumbs-up, and then he gave me a lot of meat and vegetables.
“Wife, look how monotonous it is for me to eat all by myself. You have to eat more as well. No, you have to eat your child’s share as well. Only then will there be a harmonious atmosphere.”
I knew he was trying to persuade me to eat more, and even though it was hard to swallow, I picked up my chopsticks and forced the meat and vegetables into my mouth, accepting the food he put in the bowl again.
Yu Mo was very happy and kept giving them to me, while I forcefully swallowed them all.
This meal left Yu Mo extremely happy as he said many flattery and funny words. I ate my fill, but it was unable to fill the emptiness of having lost a child.
The next day, as soon as Yu Mo went to work, I went to the hospital where Yang Xiaoming’s grandson was staying to prepare to draw up blood.
It was a young nurse who drew my blood. We had met when we brought the volunteers, and we smiled at each other as she began to prepare.
After a short while, the nurse asked me to roll up my sleeves and take out the alcohol cotton balls to disinfect them. The sweet taste that hadn’t appeared for a long time came again, and I felt sour water rush up the back of my throat.
The nurse looked up, puzzled. “You pregnant?”
I wiped my mouth and nodded. “Yes, almost three months.”
The nurse’s hand stopped abruptly, and her face was filled with surprise and shock. “Do you really know that you are having a bone marrow transplant test? “If you were successful in matching your type, you would have to beat your child to death. Forgive me for being blunt, but you and that child are not related in any way. Is there a need for you to make such a huge sacrifice?”
I calmly replied, “It’s necessary because this concerns me, a close relative. If I don’t do this, I will never forgive myself in my entire life. Therefore, I came here after careful consideration. Thank you for your good intentions. Go ahead and slap me.”
The head nurse sighed and said nothing more. She stuck the needle in my arm, and after about a minute the nurse pulled it out and told me to press the needle and make up for it.
“What I said just now was only about the matching success, but honestly, the chances are not high, so don’t be too sad right now. What if it doesn’t succeed, then your child will be safe and sound.”
I understood what the nurse was saying, and there were also examples of previous failures, but I was so eager to succeed that I started to panic, and my hand that was pressing the needle began to tremble. When I managed to calm my nerves, I found that the needle had turned purple.
My heart leaped to my chest. The matter of drawing blood had been kept from Yu Mo Yi, but now there was evidence. I told myself to keep it a secret when I got home and not let him find out.
