Promise You a Prosperous Life - C34
I bought a variety of stomach medicine from the pharmacy downstairs and made my way nervously to the hotel.
When I went to Yu Mo Yi’s room, I felt that the corridor of the hotel was so long that I had walked for a long time but had never been able to reach it. As I walked along, I thought that when I saw Yu Mo Yi later, whether he slept or not, I would let him take the medicine first, and even if he scolded me or ignored me, I would insist on my opinion.
The more I thought about it, the more anxious I became. My footsteps also became faster, and my forehead unconsciously started sweating profusely. I didn’t have the time to wipe it off as I quickly shook my head, shaking off the sweat that was about to fall into my eyes.
After what seemed like hours, I finally arrived at Yu Mo Yi’s room, but when I saw the closed door, I suddenly remembered that we were no longer lovers, that we were now in a “no contact” state. Maybe he didn’t want to see me, and that was something that could be seen from his attitude towards me during the day.
If I force myself to enter the room, I won’t be met with emotional rebuke or disregard, because those mean that at least two people are not unfamiliar to me, and what I get most likely is the question “something” that comes from a person who is on the same side as me.
I was like a soldier who had not lost a battle but had thrown away his helmet and armor in a flash.
I stood there for more than ten minutes with tears in my eyes, but I still didn’t have the courage to knock on the door. I bit my lip, placed the medicine down against the door, and walked away three times at a time.
I did not regret coming this time and thought that I had fulfilled my wish, because I only wanted to deliver the medicine to Yu Mo, I just wanted to ease his stomachache. Now that the medicine has been delivered, he will receive it tomorrow as soon as he opens the door, so what is there for me to regret?
But as I walked, my tears blurred my eyes.
The next day, based on my latest clinical observations from my mother, the experts finally decided on the procedure and set it for five in the afternoon.
I quickly took a break from the supermarket and took advantage of the hospital preparation to take a shower with my mother. Then I quietly soothed my mother by performing a series of preoperative tests with the help of a nurse, and waited with all my heart for the surgery to come.
But at noon, when her mother realized she was going to have an operation, she became agitated. She was very resistant to people who approached her, and she even slammed her water glass on the floor, muttering something.
There are signs that the mother’s mental illness is most likely to recur.
As gently as I could, I rang the bell above the bed. The nurse came quickly, followed by the specialist and the director.
Seeing that there were three more people in the ward, her mother finally stopped her crazy actions, but she covered her head with her hands again and started to shrink back into the bed timidly.
The nurse tried to get close to her mother with a sedative syringe, but she couldn’t, and when she tried again, the specialist stopped her.
The expert turned to look at me and said, “Your mother’s performance belongs to the preoperative syndrome, and anyone who needs surgery is more or less, normal people can control it, psychopaths are extremely prone to it because of their own sensitivity and fragility, and these cannot be eradicated by drugs alone. Only by relying on the power of family affection, can the fear inside her be completely eliminated, can she really calm down. Now the best way is to know what she wants, and then satisfy all her demands, and let her accept everything around her. Otherwise, the surgery that follows will be very difficult.”
I knew what the expert was talking about and thought for a moment. I tentatively asked my mother if she wanted milk and if she wanted to listen to music. These were my mother’s past hobbies, and sure enough, my mother’s eyes met mine, and then she nodded.
Just when everyone was feeling relieved, suddenly, her mother threw the milk she just took down onto the ground. She covered her face with her hands as if she was shy, and shouted excitedly towards the door, “He Yan’Er, carry him, take a picture.”
I knew that my mother was infatuated with photography at times when she was awake. She had already used the new cell phone she bought for her to take a lot of pictures of me, but I didn’t understand why she would suddenly say such a thing. I turned around to look at the door and found that it was Yu Mo who had come in.
The dean then walked up to his mother and gave her a brief introduction of the situation. Yu Mo Yi took out his phone and fiddled with it for a while before whispering to his mother, “Auntie, you can press here later.”
Yu Mo Yi’s actions were very obvious. He wanted to follow along with his mother and make her do as she wished. My heart thumped wildly, wanting to stop him. However, I forcefully held myself back as I recalled what the expert had said.
Yu Mo walked straight towards me, probably because of the pain in his stomach. His face was extremely pale, and his eyebrows were slightly furrowed, making me feel very uncomfortable. I wanted to ask him if he had seen the medicine left by the door, if he had taken it, but saying that would undoubtedly expose my actions last night, how could I say that?
As the familiar smell drew closer, I looked nervously at Yu Mo Yi. Yu Mo Yi’s eyes lingered on my face for a moment, then he extended his arm and gently pulled me into his embrace.
Yu Mo Yi’s embrace appeared in my dreams many times. It was always so warm, but when I woke up from my dream, it brought me more melancholy. Now, when I was hugged by him, I actually felt a little sad.
Yu Mo affectionately called for her mother to press a button, then her cell phone flashed and her mother smiled happily. As the experts had said, she no longer made a fuss and sat quietly in her hospital bed, looking at the photos on her cell phone.
At five o’clock in the afternoon, his mother was pushed into the operating room. Three hours later, the operation was successfully completed, and the experts confirmed what he had previously said.
Mom was finally awake, and I thanked her again. After that, I sat in the corridor of the hospital and buried my head in my hands.
Suddenly, the sound of powerful footsteps could be heard and stopped in front of me. I stopped in time and raised my head. A big hand holding a napkin reached over. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was Yu Mo Yi.
I abruptly stood up and took the initiative to hug Yu Mo Yi tightly without a care for anything else, saying repeatedly, “My mother is cured. We can chat and go to the market again. My mother can also experience the beauty of this world again.”
Yu Mo could not hide the excitement in his voice. “Congratulations for finally getting back your head.”
That day, Yumo and I had a long talk in my mother’s room after a long separation, and I apologized for leaving without saying a word.
I looked at Yu Mo Yi and sincerely said, “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have left without saying hello to you. Whether or not you can forgive me, I want to apologize.”
Yu Mo Yi’s face was filled with an unconcealable pain as he spoke in a low voice, “I don’t blame you. It’s because I didn’t adjust myself well and was disturbed by that matter that had plagued me for so long that you misunderstood me, thinking that I don’t like you.”
I didn’t understand what Yu Mo Yi was saying. Yu Mo Yi looked at me desolately and asked, “Gu Yan, can you listen to my story?”
I was a little surprised, but at the same time, I was also curious about Yu Mo Yi’s family. After knowing each other for so long, even if I had a child, I had never seen one of his family.
“I was abandoned when I was born,” said Yu, trying to control his voice. “I lived in the care of the street people, and when I was five or six years old, I was taken in by a good family, but when we went for a walk in the park we were separated, and then I was kidnapped and sold to another family, but they beat me up or scolded me, and then I ran away and met the Yu family’s old man and his wife, and they took me in pitifully, but the Yu family’s old man and his wife died early, so I lived alone for so many years.”
“I’ve never seen my real parents, and I don’t know their names, so I swore since I was a child that when I had a child, I would give him all my love. I wouldn’t let my child suffer even the slightest bit, but in the end, I didn’t have what I wanted.”
At this point, Yu Mo Yi used both hands to caress his face. Only after the meeting was over did he continue speaking.
“When I heard that my child had to undergo an abortion, I suddenly questioned why I was alive all these years, or if there was any meaning to it. My mental support collapsed instantly, so I became absent-minded towards you. It’s not that I don’t like you, it’s just that I don’t like myself. ”
I was already on the verge of tears as I listened to this. I choked and furiously nodded my head. “I believe you.”
Yu Mo Yi’s words shocked me. I never knew that someone as strong as Yu Mo Yi was actually an abandoned baby, and he even lost his loved ones that he had gone through so much difficulty to capture. I always thought that my fate was too miserable, but compared to him, being able to grow up under the protection of my own parents was not a bad thing at all.
As for the matter of the child’s miscarriage, I blame myself so much that I almost killed myself in my grief.
I was deeply ashamed of my selfishness and narrowness, and I could not help but cling to Yu Mo once more, tightly.
