Psychic Parasite: Final Serenity - Chapter 20
“Hmm, I hope Sir Jyovic Bone didn’t lie about it,” A middle-aged man sighed as he walked through the lobby of the Bone Family’s research institute, soon arriving before an entrance attached to the lobby, muttering, “Jyorta Bone, huh, he has some exaggerated rumours flying about him. This should be the best time to verify whether they are true or not.”
He calmly unleashed a psychic arm, passing it through the door as he created a sphere, causing a faint distortion in it as he opened the door. To the eyes of everyone below his level, they would only see a door that remained shut, allowing him to stealthily enter the room.
Ground Controller!
He was one of the Bone Family’s Ground Controllers, one of their powerhouses in fact. After all, he was the closest to reaching Tier 5 among everyone. To make preparations, he had hoped to use the Tier 4 Relic—containing Bone Devour—to first increase his Sync Rate to 100 percent and then use the excess energy to bloat himself accordingly. After that, he’ll meditate for a day before attempting a breakthrough.
This way, his chances would be higher. But, upon hearing Jyovic Bone’s proposal, he would be lying if he said he wasn’t interested. But, he was still doubtful. After all, it involved not losing control for a year for a person that was on the verge of losing control.
Had he been told that the person that was capable of achieving this was a Sky controller, then he would have believed it, albeit with some doubts. But, to think the person that would do it was just an Area Controller, he would be called an idiot if he believed it.
But still, the one that proposed it to him was Jyovic Bone. And despite the old man’s flaws, he was someone that didn’t bullshit in such scenarios. So, he hoped to believe it and wished for it to be the truth.
After all, his goal was to become a Sky Controller. And for the means necessary to attain that, he wasn’t concerned. Rather, if Jyorta was capable of making him attain that goal, then he would gladly take up the offer.
To him, using the Tier 4 Relic was a last resort. He didn’t have any other means to guarantee a successful breakthrough. Based on his calculation, he had less than a couple of weeks before he would lose control.
He had to reach Tier 5 before then. But, his breakthrough chances were slim, if not minimal. So, he had to gamble.
‘I’ll know once I probe him a bit.’ He had just thought as such when he looked forward, noticing the figures of Jyorta Bone and Hruna Bone talking about jovially. But, flying behind them, performing acrobatics in the air were ten Tier 3 River Whales.
Such a scene shocked him, making him wonder just what the heck Jyorta ate to attain such power. After all, he wasn’t even at the peak of Tier 2. Had he killed a Tier 3 River Whale, then he would be labelled a genius.
After all, there were quite a lot of genius humans that were capable of skipping a Tier to kill higher Tiered opponents.
But, the action of controlling not one not two but ten higher Tiered opponents was absurd, even on the level of geniuses. This alone made him hope that Jyorta Bone was indeed capable of something at least.
He then revealed himself, causing the other two to look in his direction in alarm when he introduced himself, “Jyorta Bone, was it? I’m Henrik Bone, the one who was supposed to use the Tier 4 Relic today. I am interested in the trade Jyovic Bone had proposed. But, I’m not convinced as I have no idea if you’re capable of pulling off what you had promised. Only if I judge it possible would I concede my slot to you.”
“Of course, that’s only natural.” Jyorta nodded, gazing at Hruna Bone as he smiled wryly, “I’ll show you more later.”
“No worries, I had fun. Since you’ll be here for the rest of this month, we’ll have more opportunities to interact in the future.” Hruna Bone nodded, understanding that Jyorta was motioning for her to leave, pleased at his considerate way of showcasing it. She waved her hands, exiting the room.
“I’m Jyorta Bone,” Jyorta shook hands with Henrik Bone, saying in confidence while pointing at the ten Tier 3 Rover Whales behind him, “I do have the confidence of doing what I had proposed. But, I’m not sure if the energy reserves here are sufficient for that.”
“The energy reserves here?” Henrik was confused for a moment as he looked at the River Whales, “You mean to say they are your energy reserves?”
“Yes,” Jyorta nodded, “As to how I’m able to achieve this, I can’t say that. I hope you don’t press forth on my methods.”
“I understand,” Henrik nodded, “As long as the end result is what I want, I won’t probe into whatever you use.”
It also meant that if the results were subpar, then Henrik would interrogate Jyorta. As a Ground Controller, he would be able to do so without even alerting Jyorta.
Jyorta was clearly aware of it, understanding the might of Ground Controllers and Sky Controllers from his stay at the military academy. If they needed, they were able to manipulate his emotions to the extent he would cough up everything he knew readily. To them, it was as easy as taking candy from a newborn baby.
“Then,” Jyorta asked, “Do you have any time restrictions or anything that might hinder my methods? Even though I am confident, I’m unsure of how long it might take. This is my first time attempting this on a Ground Controller.”
“Two weeks, that’s the maximum time I can give you,” Henrik said, “That’s the time I have before I lose control. So, it is a hard time limit. It can never be extended, of course, unless your method is successful.”
“Two weeks,” Frowning, Jyorta nodded, “I’ll first try it once. If it seems feasible, I’ll give a guarantee.”
“Sure,” Henrik nodded, “Try whatever you want now.”
