Psychic Parasite: Final Serenity - Chapter 22
Within a couple of seconds, Jyorta arrived atop the City Walls situated in Sector 9, 10th Ring. Henrik stood beside him, gazing at the ongoing war as he said, “What do you plan to do now? You have 24 hours to make the most of this Tier 4 Relic.”
Jyorta looked at the three species among the Swarm, observing their actions.
The first was the flying type. They possessed a body similar to a stingray, but more rounded. Their round bodies spun at terrific speeds, hovering in the air. Hung from the centre were tentacles, their ends attached with sharp spikes, and seemed denser than the rest, weighing as much as the rest of its body.
Hidden within the roots of the tentacles was a large protrusion, shaped into a cone. It was its sensory device. Its surface was fully covered with fins that faintly trembled, emitting an ultrasonic wave that it used to perceive and transmit information.
The tentacles spanned thrice the radius of the body. The sizes of their bodies varied from three metres to 20 metres. Occasionally, mixed among them were Frenzy Beasts, their sizes surpassing a hundred metres at Tier 3. They were codenamed the Stingray.
Crawling on the ground were eight-legged beasts. Their feet were webbed, their bodies covered by fins that flapped, producing a faint sound. They used the sound similar to the Stingrays, for both perceiving and transmitting information.
Their bodies were shaped similar to a reptile but had long sturdy legs akin to frogs. Using them, they were capable of jumping as high as 50 metres. Their skin was fully covered by scales, tough like steel. Their tongues were the same as frogs, capable of expanding up to 10 times their body length.
Their bodies ranged from 10 metres to 30 metres in size. They were hulking fortresses. When they hopped, they released faint toxins into the air, polluting it, making the environment dangerous. They were codenamed the Frog.
The final species was shaped like a frog with the head of an octopus. It possessed thick, stout legs that supported its massive frame and a long tail to balance its actions. It was fully armoured from head to tail, its defences the strongest among the three.
Its head was almost one-fourth its body while it possessed two bellies. The underbelly was full, housing something while the upper belly expanded to twice its body size before contracting. When it contracted, the beast opened its mouth and shot out a large spike.
The spike flew with tremendous speed and impacted the city walls. After launching the spike, the beast inhaled again, causing its upper belly to inflate once again. A couple of seconds later, it exhaled while opening its mouth, shooting forth another spike. It was codenamed the Armadillo.
The spikes it shot forth ranged from 3-5 metres in length, possessing tremendous weight and material toughness. They proved to be the most troublesome of the three due to the fact that they positioned themselves two kilometres away from the city walls and spammed their attacks.
It was hard for the soldiers on the walls to range their attacks that far. After all, there were too many obstacles along the way, absorbing most of their attacks. And thanks to their ridiculously tough armour, the Armadillos resisted all attacks.
Only Sky Controllers were able to reach them. But at present, all the Sky Controllers only remained on standby, intending to intervene only when the situation deteriorated.
Every Aristocratic Family was given the task of expanding the city by two Sectors worth within two years. For the Bone Family, it was Sector 9 among the 11th and 12th Rings. At present, many Sectors among the 10th Ring were yet to be completed.
So, it was proving troublesome to expand. Though, considering the advantages of Bone Devour, the Swarm was their perfect opponent. So, the Bone Family was having a rather great time reaping the tremendous benefits.
Every Bone Family member possessing Bone Devour had a 100 percent Sync Rate now. Jyorta watched a Shifter land on a Frog as his feet wriggled. The bones forming it expanded like spikes, boring deep into the Frog as it spread like fibrous roots.
Immediately after, the Frog’s body began to rapidly thin as the Shifter absorbed all the energy, raising his hand as he pointed them towards the incoming Swarm. His finger bones shot out as they expanded in length, turning into bone spears as they pierced through the Swarm.
And immediately after, the monsters in the Swarm became tired as the energy in their bodies leaked out through the bone spikes, weakening them. Like a machine gun, the Shifter shot out bone spikes nonstop.
Even when the Shifter received a hit from the enemies, he was unfazed, swiftly healing the injury in an instant by absorbing energy from his foes.
Another Shifter laughed as she jumped from one Frog to another, only remaining on their bodies for a couple of seconds each. She didn’t kill them, simply jumping after the interval.
But, the Frogs touched by her no longer jumped or attacked the city, rooted to the spots, immobile. It was because their joints had melted and joined together into one, caging them. Their skeletal structure was the cage that bound them to the place, preventing them from ever moving.
A team of Developers arrived and tied up ropes around the caged Frog, slowly hailing it into the city. The ability to manipulate flesh and bone, also devouring the energy of their foes while filtering out any Essence of Frenzy; that was the power of Bone Devour.
“Impressive, isn’t it?” Henrik Bone laughed, gazing at the scene of the Bone Family members dancing through the battlefield, “If in terms of battle strength and survivability, Bone Devour is the greatest among all the Unranked Skills. After seeing our actions, Marble City dubbed us the title of…”
“Bone Dancers of the Battlefield.”
“Bone Devour sure is impressive,” Jyorta nodded, closing his eyes as he sensed the number of tattoos he had prepared for this occasion, ‘I have 30 tattoos in total. That should be enough for the time being.’
He then looked at Henrik, pointing at the Armadillos positioned two kilometres away, “Can you protect me while transporting me to them?”
“No sweat,” Henrik smiled as their figures flashed past, appearing atop an Armadillo a couple of seconds later.
