Psychic Parasite: Final Serenity - Chapter 38
5:30 PM, Sector 12, 7th Ring; Jyorta arrived before the Bone Family Mansion, gazing inside as he entered. The moment he set foot inside, he was able to feel a chill creep up his spine, alarming him for a moment.
But, there didn’t seem anything out of place here. Rather, it was just a strange sensation pervading in the air, as if a beast had been set loose in the place and was prowling around, in wait for its prey.
‘Just…what is…happening?’ Jyorta wondered, taking a lift as he arrived at the topmost floor. It was where Jyovic Bone’s office was situated. Everything related to the Bone Family was present in the place, including the administrator’s office that managed the family’s internal affairs.
‘Did he call me to discuss about my marriage? It hasn’t been long since we talked about that.’ Just as he was thinking of the reason Jyovic Bone had called him, Jyorta flinched the moment he arrived on the topmost floor, noticing goosebumps form on his skin while his hairs stood on an end.
He felt a searing sensation, beginning to sweat immediately when he noticed his surroundings were different than he had expected. Before he realised it, he was in a desert now, the temperatures blazing hot, causing him to sweat buckets immediately.
‘Am I under an aura personification?’ The moment he thought as such, Jyorta riled up his aura while unleashing his psychic arms, creating a cocoon around him before emitting his aura to the limit.
He noticed the surroundings flicker, causing faint static at places where the desert and the corridor of the Bone Family Mansion’s topmost floor fluctuated. But, he was alarmed upon seeing the situation, noticing that he wasn’t strong enough to escape from the aura personification, observing the fluctuations beginning to die down in intensity and size.
‘Dammit, I’m falling into the aura personification!’ He hurriedly riled up his aura, seeping his weaker psychic arm into himself after activating Regen. He focused all its power on maintaining a stable state of mind while replenishing his presence.
This way, he riled up his aura further, unleashing it to the limit as he infused it into his stronger psychic arm, causing it to begin attacking the aura personification intending to affect him. But, upon noticing that it was growing in strength, he was alarmed, finally going all out.
Jyorta clasped his hands, clapping once before facing the palms closer to one another, emanating his aura through them, also imbuing his corrosion into it, shouting, “Hah!”
Aura Wave!
Instantly, his aura fluctuated, carrying the corrosion with them as they exploded, immediately searing through the air, ionising it. Within a couple of seconds, a bolt of lightning crashed into a sand dune, causing it to vanish as the corridor was revealed in the impact area.
The lightning bolts impacted the other areas too, causing the desert to vanish in such places, revealing the corridor that was mildly singed by them.
“Ouch!” He flinched when a bolt landed on his psychic arm barrier, causing it to burst like a balloon, damaging his clothes. Thanks to Regen, he quickly recovered from the damage, looking around to see the area surrounding him was bereft of the desert.
But beyond that was still covered by the desert, causing him to frown, ‘Just what is happening? Isn’t this the Bone Family Mansion?’
Thump! Thump!
Suddenly, his heartrate accelerated when Jyorta watched the desert creep towards him once again, covering the places singed by the lightning bolts. As for the remainder of the lightning bolts, when they crashed, they failed to destroy the sand dunes within the desert as hot winds brushed past his face.
By the time Jyorta managed to react, preparing to unleash a second Aura Wave, he flinched, noticing his feet entering the sand below, as if he had stepped upon quicksand. “Dammit, this makes no sense!”
Aura Beam!
In his hurry, he unlashed his fastest technique, causing the area two metres around him to become bereft of the desert once again. “I shouldn’t be here unless I understand the situation first.”
Right as he turned around, intending to enter the lift, he noticed his body burning up once again. And, the moment his index finger approached the lift button, pressing it, he noticed the lift turn into sand and collapse.
Aura Beam!
Jyorta grunted, shocked when he noticed all his Aura Beam did now was just cause some sand to fly away, no longer dispersing the aura personification around him like before. “What the heck?”
Just as he was about to unleash another Aura Beam, he controlled himself, noticing that the weather was turning hotter and hotter. He could feel the sense of realism of the place turn increasingly solid, rapidly becoming so as he judged, ‘This feels somewhat like the Crimson Desert, but there isn’t any restriction on my abilities. Rather, my psychic energy has reduced from all the attacks I unleashed. So, this is different.’
‘It’s not exactly a hallucination.’ He concluded, having been using the aura personification of hallucination the most, ‘Rather, this feels like the presence of someone has spread throughout the place and has enveloped everyone within the building.’
This was the reason he didn’t attempt to head towards the lift once again. After all, the range of the aura personification had already reached a couple of lower floors. And based on what he could sense in the short moment he had broken out of it, the aura personification would reach the ground floor before his lift managed to reach it.
Thereby, he would remain within the aura personification, failing to escape.
Instead, he could rather stay in place and work in solving the issue or whatever it was. After all, he was closer to the source now.
This way, he would be able to escape somehow, or at least find a solution. ‘Just what had happened here to create this? Why haven’t the elders of the Bone Family done anything to prevent this from happening?’
Wrapping his psychic arms around himself, Jyorta shielded himself from the heat, flinching at his psychic energy expenditure when suddenly, a gust of wind blew him away, causing him to slide over more than thirty metres. His psychic arm barrier had shattered from the force when he noticed something crash into the ground beside him, with the force of impact spilling out the sand like a tidal wave, burying him.
