Psychic Parasite: Final Serenity - Chapter 40
“Raging Momentum, a Skill related to the Aura Path…” Jyorta muttered, nodding in understanding, “So, this…desert was created by this Skill?”
“Indeed,” Havita Bone nodded, “And, it had gained sentience, pulling us all into this world of aura. Even though we can use all our abilities, only our aura is trapped here. In reality, our bodies remain still, rooted to their initial spots. As to its objective for trapping us here, we are unsure.”
Jyorta became worried, “If we can’t understand its objective, it would become difficult to leave this place.”
Thinking of something, he asked Havita, “Aunt, can’t you unleash your aura here and forcefully break this aura personification? With your aura reserves as a Transformer, it should be easy, right? A few minutes before, even my aura managed to destroy a part of my surroundings.”
“That was only because you hadn’t been pulled into this aura personification back then.” Havita sighed, “Once this Aura Beast noticed your presence, it pulled you here. That’s why your latest attack didn’t manage to damage this place.”
“Aura Beast? Is that what it is called?” Jyorta asked.
“Let’s just assume it as one for convenience’s sake.” Havita picked him up, carrying him as she began to run all of a sudden, “The strange thing is, this Aura World is absorbing a mysterious energy of sorts from the outside world to empower itself.”
“The Aura Path!” Jyorta gasped for breath when Havita Bone picked up speed. Though, he immediately noticed the cause.
“Indeed, as the Earth is developing along the Aura Path, not only are Skills related to aura popping up among humans and Frenzy Beasts, the world’s presence itself is building up. And this Aura Beast has tapped into that aura reserve. That’s why even I am unable to destroy this place using my aura.” Havita Bone quickly flickered around as something crashed into the place she had been standing upon, “Our only choice is to figure out the cause and solve the root of the issue.”
Once Havita came to a stop, Jyorta was able to notice an ethereal figure that had appeared at the place, one that faintly resembled Havita at first glance, having a somewhat similar presence as her.
It calmly stood atop a sand dune, gazing at the two people before it, thinking of something as it waved its hand once.
Instantly, the sand below its feet acted like water, forming a wave as it came crashing into Havita. Unwilling to face it head-on, Havita leaped into the air, condensing a pair of wings on her back by morphing her back muscles, flapping them to retreat further.
She then gazed below, watching the sand resembling a tsunami as it drowned all the sand dunes, completely changing the terrain.
“This would be dangerous to fight,” Havita said, “All sorts of Aura Beasts have appeared here, with their presence ranging from Tier 1 to Tier 5. Thankfully, they have traits similar to Cogen Phrenics. Only Aura Beasts with a presence on par with you or lower would try to attack you.”
“This Aura Beast is on my level. I won’t be able to fight it while carrying you, Jyorta.” Havita said, flapping her wings as she flew at tremendous speeds, noticing the Aura Beast chasing after them by surfing the sands.
She soon noticed an oasis, using her sensory means to scout the place to ensure it was safe, dropping Jyorta as she said, “Just remain here in safety. The elders are already working out a solution. We’ll soon figure out the method to escape this place. Until then, stay put here.”
Saying her piece, she quickly flew in another direction, preventing Jyorta from being caught up in the Aura Beast’s attacks.
Jyorta watched the two fighting existences head far away from him as he groaned, slumping on the ground as he wiped off the blood leaking from his nose, “Even with Regen, I took this much damage. If she moved around any faster, my internal organs would have ruptured.”
If Havita used her actual speed, she would easily break the sound barrier. To his unguarded self, that would be enough to kill him. After all, she wasn’t accelerating slowly from zero to that speed, rather, she would reach that pace in an instant, constantly changing directions to fight.
The inertial fluctuations would be enough to grind his organs into pulp.
Now that he had some freedom of thought, Jyorta frowned in worry, “Was what she said before the truth? Was mother killed by grandpa?”
He sighed, controlling himself as he noticed the sand in his vicinity beginning to melt as his body was emanating a suffocating presence, one suffused with corrosion.
Wrath!
The blue soul placed the face mask—the false persona of calm, optimism, and filled with focus—on him once again, allowing him to cool his head. He had been using it before when Havita Bone was telling information about his mother’s death.
As he had been going through numerous memory fragments, Jyorta’s mental state was sensitive at present. And considering the information was related to his family, his emotions got the best of him. If it had been the him from 10 months ago, he wouldn’t have felt this level of rage.
Now, whatever emotion it was that he experienced, all were amplified to a certain extent. After all, the memory fragments related to himself, his past life, Henrik’s, and the Frenzy Beasts that he had comprehended all reacted accordingly to this information, influencing his mind.
Due to that, he had become brasher than an emotional teenager that didn’t have a leash on his emotional state. That’s why he was relying on the face mask.
“I shouldn’t give in to my emotions in this situation.” Jyorta sighed, massaging his forehead as he distracted himself with other thoughts, retracting his false persona once he had returned to normalcy.
He then looked around, muttering, “An oasis with a small pond around 8 metres in diameter.”
He then noticed the sole tree at the place, the one he had been standing under, using its shade to get some relief from the heat, “Is this a banana…tree?”
The banana shrub was five times bigger than the ones he had commonly seen in his previous life, reaching a height of 15 metres. Its leaves were massive, providing a large shade for him to stand under.
He then noticed that there were some bananas on the tree, wondering what would happen if he were to eat them. After all, he was in a place created by aura. He wondered if it would actually recover his expended presence or if it would serve to immerse him deeper into the place.
But right as he thought so, Jyorta noticed a small group of beasts running towards him, tensing up when they were gradually growing in size as they approached him.
