Jyovic Bone switched off the screen, “But, we can’t just call it off like it’s nothing. Dalna Doppler’s father is the current head of the Doppler Family. And, he took the initiative of asking us with his daughter’s hand in marriage. It would offend him if we just give him a cutthroat answer.”
“There’s nothing going on between me and her.” Jyorta replied, “And…”
Right as Jyorta was about to continue, Jyovic Bone took a seat a couple of seats away, crossing his legs as he said, “It was Dalna Doppler who had first proposed this idea. When her father asked about the prospects she was interested in, your name was brought up first.”
“I already have someone I like,” Jyorta said, “And since my marriage with Dalna Doppler is impossible, let’s just call it off.”
He then said, “If we wait it out a bit, then George’s family might extend Dalna Doppler a hand in marriage.”
“Who’s George?” Jyovic Bone asked.
“He’s the guy who landed the first hit on the Tier 3 River Whale. He’s from the Eagle Family.” Jyorta said.
“Ah, him,” Jyovic Bone nodded, “It seems he and Dalna Doppler have obtained the same inheritance from the staff in the Military Academy. It makes sense to have similar talents together for greater benefits. Right, if we drive the course of discussions through this way, then it would ease up tensions with the Doppler Family. How willing would this George kid be to marry Dalna Doppler?”
“I don’t think any guy from my Batch would refuse to marry her. If I didn’t already have someone I like, I would have said yes to this proposal myself.” Jyorta said honestly, “You saw her charisma. It’s impossible for any guy to not fall for her.”
After some thought, Jyovic Bone nodded, asking, “Who’s the girl you said you liked?”
“She’s named Haesha,” Jyorta said, “She was the girl who caught me after I unleashed my attack on the Tier 3 River Whale.”
“She is pleasing to the eye indeed and resembles your mother in grace and character. I can see why you like her,” Jyovic Bone nodded, “Anyway, if you like her, then that’s it. She’ll be your moral support from the moment you reach Tier 3. I’ll send her family an invitation in regards to this.”
“Let me do it myself,” Jyorta said, “I’ll first win her hand.”
“Whatever you want, hurry it up. Based on what Heima told me, it seems you don’t have much time.” Jyovic Bone said, “I’ll give you a month at maximum. Beyond that, I’ll take matters into my hand.”
“Fine,” Jyorta sighed, understanding very well that marriage was a complex undertaking in Marble City. A lot had to be considered before two people could be married. After all, marriage was no different from a connection between two families.
It would mean the sharing of data, resources, etc. between the two families. And, in Jyorta’s case, it would be Haesha marrying into the Bone Family. That meant if her family had been involved in some research, then Haesha would no longer be a part of it. It meant a loss in manpower, ideas, and leak of the information she was already privy to.
Individually, Haesha would benefit the most. But overall, the Bone Family would benefit. But as for her family, they wouldn’t have any concrete benefits. They would have someone—Haesha—to back them up in the future though.
So, no matter what, a lot had to be taken into consideration. And, this was just in the case of monetary and material substances. There was also Haesha’s character, personality, and quality as a human being to factor in. After all, if she had any mental defects and her children were to inherit them, they would fail to reach higher Tiers in the future.
It was especially troubling since everything would change once someone reached Tier 3. After all, from this moment onwards, their Wisdom Parasite would obtain intelligence and maturity to speak. And, it would constantly keep talking in their minds, always attacking their mental states by targeting their weaknesses as much as it could.
If their minds weren’t sturdy enough or they had gone through troubling childhood that could be used against them, they would lose control soon enough. And to prevent this from happening, the quality of the parents was the most necessary.
Only with a proper upbringing would the child grow without any mental weakness that the Wisdom Parasite could exploit in the future. This was the most important factor a family considered at the prospect of marriage.
It was especially true since Jyorta formed the main line of succession in the Bone Family. So, Jyovic Bone would definitely test Haesha’s calibre in upbringing.
Once they finished discussing this issue, Jyorta spoke, “Grandpa, I need the means to secure a source of energy.”
“Is the energy you replenish from eating food insufficient?” Jyovic Bone asked, “What about the Healing Salve?”
“That’s insufficient too. I have a tremendous energy requirement. And, the Trait of Severability’s needs only forms a tenth of it.” Jyorta said, shocking Jyovic Bone for a moment.
After some thought, Jyovic Bone said, “We have one Tier 4 Relic made using Bone Devour. There’s just one of it in our family now, so it’s incredibly expensive to even be loaned out. The loan costs are something you wouldn’t be able to handle.”
“How much does it cost?” Jyorta asked.
“70,000 Contribution Points to be loaned its use for a day.” Jyovic Bone said, “And, that’s because there’s only one of it, and the demand is insane. Using it, anyone can replenish their energy levels to the maximum within a minute. And for higher Tiered Warriors and Espers, it means they can fight and obtain contribution points even longer. With the ongoing Lacquer Wave, it is all the more important.”
“By the way, a mission handout for an Area Controller rewards around 10 Contribution Points.” Jyovic Bone said, “Since there is external demand for this Relic, I can’t even take it out without being pressured by tens of thousands of soldiers and higher officials who are waiting for their turn to use it.. Unless you can offer the required Contribution Points, I won’t even be able to pull any strings for you.”
