Queen Kohra - 3 3
Kohra
Jeir was really asking for death. I woke up early in the morning to a sword dumped on my bed and Jeir’s smiling face. She’s asking for a sword fight in the early hours of the morning. I don’t have anything to do so I humor her. I’m very good at sword fights, a fact that everyone seemed to know already.
We start with a little warm up. I free up the knots in my muscles and activate them. I crouch, gathering all my power in my legs and burst at her. Jeir isn’t sloppy, she catches my strike with a counter of her own. Steel clashes and sparks fly into the air.
I’m undeterred and continue my strike. Jeir matches my strikes and together, we’re in a sword dance. It’s dangerous but beautiful. In this, I find my peace, my sanity.
In the middle of the battle, Jeir stops and drops her sword. She stares into the distance, seemingly looking at something. She jumps high, disappearing in the rows of roofs in thr palace.
“I guess practice is over” I say to myself. I pick up the swords, returning them. I’m used to Jeir running off like that. She disappears a lot.
I portal to the dinning room to get brunch. That’s where I first saw him. He looked terrified and uncomfortable in his royal clothes. He looked…..adorable. I’m disgusted with myself for thinking that. I just sit at the table, expecting my food.
“Kohra, darling….”
“Hello mother” I reply politely.
“This is Lesker, your new consort. Say hi to him”
I smile and say to him;
“Hello Lesker, I am Queen Kohra. It’s nice to meet you”
“Your majesty” he says, bowing. He’s scared of me and respects me, that’s a good trait.
I ignore him after that and eat. Mother makes him uncomfortable by asking alot of questions, not bothering about his feelings. How typical of her.
I finish my food and I’m about to leave when they walk in. All of them are veiled, all wearing white gowns. The council. They potrayed themselves to be dignified and righteous, the spokeswomen of Muni. It deceived a lot of people, not me.
“Your majesty” they all greet with a bow. I give them a bow too.
“So, what brings the council here? The cloud palace got too stufy?”
“No your majesty. We came to look at the consort. He was brought in from the monastery of Burmi” one of them reply. I don’t know which one, not that I care.
“The monastery, hun? Why would you give me a monk to marry?”
“He’s not a monk your majesty. The Abbot says he’s a scholar. He studies the gods” mother replies me.
“So you ruined someone’s life just to marry him to me? Sounds just like you”
“It would be an honor for any man to become a consort of the queen. If anything, we made his life better” the council member replies me.
“I almost regret letting you do this. He’s your responsibility since you brought him in. Now if you’d escuse me, I have better things to do” I say and I walk out.
I’m walking towards the stables. The stable mistress goes to bring my mount as soon as she sees me. I do this very often. I stroke Zoma and she nuzzles in my nape.
“Good girl. We’re going on a little trip” I say and she neighs. I roll my eyes. The royal bull-horses were too lazy. I climb my mount and together, we rode like the wind.
I could always portal to where I’m going but what’s the fun in that? I love riding, I have since I was a child.
“Your majesty!”
“Piss off Jeir” I say in annoyance. She laughs and cuts off my path. She was laughing so hard, I thought her stomach would burst. The eyes of her bull-horse was twinkling with amusement.
“You, Queen Kohra, the queen who was meant to go down in history for having no consort, you have a consort? Hahaha, unbelivable”
“If you want to be in the history books, I have a proposition for you; the royal advisor who had her tongue cut off because she couldn’t mind herself”
“Hahahaha, you can’t hurt me”
“Don’t be too sure Jeir. Like I said, piss off” I opened a portal and Zoma rides through it, leaving a jeering Jeir behind.
