Queen Of Hearts Is The CEO’s, Mysterious Love. - Chapter 145
“You did dare to ask Dr. Huo to check on her behind my back!” Lu Jianjun roared the moment he stepped inside and glared at the well-suited man sitting behind the desk, all the while engrossed in his works but he looked up instantly to listen to the irritated man standing tall before him.
Lu Jianjun grimly watched the man stood up slowly, the paleness of his face giving away all hints of his wrong footing. Fury flashed in Lu Jianjun eyes but faded when the ossified man spoke nonetheless the truth, “Yes…I have asked him. But it was rooted cause… they targeted GQ again and you know why would it occur, Li Na has…” his consideration went unheard by the gesture of raised hand from Lu Jianjun hindered him.
“You’re making a mistake again,” Lu Jianjun jeered threateningly.
Disappointed in his friend, Lu Jianjun lamented and turned to look away from him, stroking the space in between his eyebrows as he spoke grudgingly. “You don’t listen, do you? Wang Dawei, Li Na has nothing to do with your sister anymore.” Lu Jianjun’s disproved voice sounded like a threat.
As if caught off guard, Wang Dawei paled in dismay, hung his head quiet, his eyes hesitant to meet Lu Jianjun, as his vision dropping to set upon the table articles not confidently meeting in the eyes of the man.
The room went silent for a moment and after a period of contemplation, Wang Dawei spoke solemnly, ” I know…I’m sorry now,”, “Please take the seat,”
Lu Jianjun appears to abate down as he sat on the sofa in the cabin. Wang Dawei walked around the desk and came to sit before his friend looking utterly embarrassed of himself.
“I’ve told you she has changed in her behavior.” Lu Jianjun said in an irate tone as reflected in the frown that wrinkled his forehead, but Wang Dawei couldn’t resist his doubts.
“I’m sure, she did change but not for our good. It’s only worst she could be for us…you don’t know but you’re shielding a criminal mind. I can’t take risks -”
“You really believe I don’t care for Wang Jing anymore.” Lu Jianjun hissed out at him, his eyes ablaze with a fury not sparing him the situation about to follow.
Stunned by the explicit charge made, Wang Dawei looked distressed to even perceive such thoughts. “No, it’s not like that. What you have done for my sister, probably anyone could have ever done. I’ve failed her as brother once and I-I just felt like that Li Na could be…”
“….a threat!?” Lu Jianjun closed the sentence in a revulsion tone for him and looked utterly opposed to it.
“Lu Jianjun, You’re taking it in the wrong way, Wang Jing has trusted you with GQ to give her all ȧssets and possessions for you to protect and I also do, ” Wang Dawei defended himself promptly.
Waned in temper, Lu Jianjun uttered reverently, “Then you better explain to me, all your rubbish plan…cause you know, as I won’t fail Wang Jing’s trust, I, also can not give up on Li Na, no matter what happens,”
In the midst of absolving the situation, Wang Dawei looked shocked and in disbelief of what he heard but there was nothing relenting in Lu Jianjun’s form he could detect as if he had said anything wrong. “Lu Jianjun, Have you started to care for Li Na? After all that she did…”
“You’re overstating my words, looks like you have forgotten she’s not just an accidental girl in my life, in addition, she the mother to my child,” Lu Jianjun burst out infuriatingly.
The utterance of grievous truth in the statements turned Wang Dawei into a statue as if he was watching a stranger speak and not the friend he had known for all along. ” Then I must applaud, the man of virtue…besides that you’ve changed!” he pronounced shockingly. “What did she do to you? Don’t tell me you’re falling for her…”
Knocked out by the obscure claim, Lu Jianjun sat motionless as a graven image. He looked up to speak but could not utter an uncomplicated, ‘no’ word to decline the drawn ȧssertion.
With a frightful face and tone, Wang Dawei articulated in a deliberated garbled, inwardly feeling a treacherous horror befalling on them, as he spoke of past commitments. ” I remembered you said, that you won’t…”, “And now look at you, in just a few weeks of living together had changed you so much, ”
Wang Dawei watched and waited for his friend to defend himself or at least Lu Jianjun could try to discredit his allegations but when he did nothing apart from sitting like a mortified sculpture and thoughtfully marveling at his words silently Wang Dawei’s hauled patience snapped.
Suddenly, Wang Dawei stood up frustratedly and started pacing in the room, “My God! You did…” he appended insolently. “Is that why you’re not been in supporting the strategy that could help in reviving her memories? Is the why you’re keeping her isolated? You still want to protect her…”
Lu Jianjun stiffened at the disputes which had no relevance in any of his decision so far he has taken regarding her, “No, I don’t love her,” he mumbled lowly. Wang Dawei stopped pacing and turned to him.
“And she is not ready yet to know the whole truth,” Lu Jianjun meet his eyes and declaring loud and clear for him to concede. But Wang Dawei was stuck in evaluating his voice that lacks the evermore conviction and ȧssurance Lu Jianjun always speaks with when he denies falling for her.
“You’re taking a liking in her,” Wang Dawei amended haphazardly and slumped down on his cushioned sofa seat despondently holding his head to one side.
“No,” Lu Jianjun stated firmly and he turned to look away from him.
Hope ignited in his eyes as Wang Dawei declaimed his stand, “Lu Jianjun, listen to me and think about it for once…Li Na is no more the old herself nor she is the woman you really love,”
Lu Jianjun glanced at him as if resignedly affirming the realism, as Wang Dawei continued to declaim his stakes, “I know there is a slight possibility of her being honest but the large possibility is that she is again deceiving us,”
“I know who she is better than you…I don’t need your advice or point of view on what you think of her. She’s good the way she is and I must tell you much better too.” Lu Jianjun said seriously and felt himself surprised at what length he wants to defend her in front of his mate.
Feeling helpless and unfit to understand the strange ways of the man to handle his complex situation before him, Wang Dawei sighed and then spoke resignedly, “Alright! I don’t want to be the only one to argue when nobody could persuade you…”,
“You’re too late on that,” Irritation sparked in Lu Jianjun’s eyes “I imply on the persuasion point, I have already set my mind.”
“What? Do you mean to say there is someone who could change your mind…I don’t remember anyone having that power over you other than my lovely sister,” he chuckled while he reminisces the antiquity of his behavior, he couldn’t believe Lu Jianjun’s the very person who happened to be so easy to deal with whenever his sister was around him.
“She’s an exception,” a subtly relieving smiled appeared on Lu Jianjun’s face and his features softened but it too vanished quickly to get replaced with the novelty of a stranger stance as he stated vigorously, “Don’t entangle her with me anymore, we’re over…”
“Yes, Of course, for both of you to broke off your engagement and move on. There must be a substantial reason behind the separation.” Wang Dawei uttered dejectedly.
He had just finished his sentence when he saw Lu Jianjun’s expression changed drastically as the man suddenly stood up and unexpectedly walked toward the door. Confused, Wang Dawei turned around trailing behind him then he heard the faint voice of Lu Jianjun speaking, “What are you doing here? Has the talk ended?”
Along the guards standing back, He couldn’t see the form standing in the distance as Lu Jianjun frame covered it completely, “Who’s there?” Wang Dawei asked and then he heard the low voice of the woman answering Lu Jianjun’s concern and he stood stilled in shock. “Li Na?”
