Queen of The Scalpel - Chapter 23
She even had suspicions. That’s how great Fleming’s accomplishments were. Compared to the medicines on Earth, they were still lacking, but he had still made all the basic medicines.Even with the strength of alchemy, it was unbelievable. ‘I want to meet him once…but it’s already been 5 years since he passed.’ It was a shame.
“Sir, does it hurt?”
“Ah…no it doesn’t hurt.”
After checking that it was completely numb, she began the debridement.
“Please give me the disinfectant.”
First, she thoroughly disinfected the pus filled wound. She made sure it didn’t just get on the wound, but spread deep inside the wound. Then.
“Please give me the knife.”
“You’re really doing it by yourself?”
The staff member asked her. Elise nodded her head.
“Yes.”
It was a short but firm answer.
The staff members handed over the knife with a pale face.
“…”
Elise momentarily just looked at the disinfected knife. ‘Scalpel.’ It was the basic form of the scalpel. Her heart thumped. ‘I would never let go of this scalpel after becoming a doctor.’ She missed it. The feeling of this scalpel.
‘I’m never becoming the Crown Princess. This is my destiny. I’ll live my life as a doctor.’ She slid the surgical knife down. The dead skin fell apart precisely, and blood spurted out.
“…!”
The onlooking staff members gasped. But Elise just calmly moved her hand. She stopped the blood with gauze, and cut out the dead skin with the knife. Her eyes weren’t ‘Elise, daughter of the Marquis,’ but ‘Doctor Elise.’
An unshaking iron-like gaze. Her eyes didn’t match her lithe doll-like face, but it was also beautiful at the same time.
“How did she…?”
They looked at Elise with surprised faces. They weren’t professionals, but after working at the hospital for a long time, they knew that Elise’s skills weren’t normal. She looked like a master.
The last dead skin was cut off. The wound was now clean.
“It’s finished, sir.”
Elise spoke as she finished it off with gauze.
“Thank you. I think it feels much better than before.”
Then she spoke to the staff members who were looking blankly at her.
“Sorry…but can you help with the other patients as well?”
“Ah…yes, yes!”
They listened to Elise’s words. And so Elise fixed the patients one by one.

And so one week passed. The young professor Grayam was summoned to the hospital director’s room in the middle of his research.
“What is it?”
“How is the lady Viscountess Kate recommended doing?”
“…”
Grayam was at a loss for words. ‘…How is she doing?’ After he left her in that ward, he didn’t care. No, to be precise, he forgot. ‘But why haven’t I heard anything? Did she quit without letting me know?’ He thought she was definitely going to tell him she was going to quit, but it was quiet. She might’ve been so surprised seeing the patients that she just left without saying a word.
“Why are you answering? Did she not come to see you?’
The hospital director, Viscount Gote’s eyes narrowed.
“N-No. She’s…”
Grayam stuttered.
“…doing independent studying.”
“Independent studying?”
“Yes, I told her to do some independent studying so she could get used to the hospital.”
At his loose lie, the hospital director was able to tell what was going on.
“Grayam! Are you really going to be this way? It’s a lady recommended by no less than Viscountess Kate!”
“S-Sorry.”
Viscountess Kate. She was a high noble backed by the Clarence family.
“Go do it properly!”
“Yes, I apologize.”
Grayam left his office. Then, he sighed.
‘Damn, I’m busy enough, but I have to teach that lady? If she’s that important, he should teach her himself!’
He inwardly thought that, but he was only a doctor without any connections. He needed to do what he was ordered. So he forced himself to head down to the ward.
