Queen of The Scalpel - Chapter 80
“Hm…”
Mikhail rubbed his chin as if he didn’t get the situation. Just what was that gaze? She was calmly smiling, but as the womanizer of womanizers, he knew. The emotions in her eyes were longing and regret.
‘Didn’t we only see each other from far away? Even if I’m a womanizer I didn’t spend a steamy time with Lady Clarence.’ He wondered whether she was amongst the people he dated, but she wasn’t.
He didn’t recall all his relationships, but he would remember such a pretty girl. ‘What is it?’
That was how their meeting ended that day. Mikhail returned to his room with lots of questions.
“Elise, she said?”
He murmured to himself on his bed.
“I was bored here by myself, but it worked out well.”
He didn’t have anything to do anyway. He decided to learn more about her.
***
After that, he went to see Elise when he was bored. He thought she wouldn’t like it since he and the Crown Prince were political enemies, but she always welcomed him.
Occasionally, she made tea for him with materials from the outside, and he went to her more frequently because of that taste. ‘We seem to understand each other, strangely enough.’
He tilted his head. He felt like the girl was close to him. She didn’t say it herself, but call it his intuition. He began to be comfortable with her as well.
“Um…Your Highness. You’re confined right now, but if you keep roaming around…”
The Royal Guard spoke with an awkward expression, the 3rd Prince smiled and spoke shamelessly.
“Well, who cares. I’m locked in the White Palace, not to my room. Besides, both of us will be let out soon.”
They rapidly became close to each other as they both stayed in the Palace. To be exact, Mikhail felt an affinity towards her. Almost to the point where he questioned himself whether it was okay to be like this with the lady who would become his brother’s wife. But Mikhail wasn’t someone to worry about such minor things.
“What are you reading? Is that book fun?”
“I’m studying. I have to take the medical license test soon.”
“I don’t understand a single word, but you read these difficult books as well. But are you really gonna be a doctor?”
“Yes, I’ll be a doctor.”
“Hehe, oh right, you were the one who saved the Duchess, hm? Amazing.”
He looked at her with incredulous eyes. How was just a small girl able to do that? He heard it was a mess back then.
“Then what about marriage? You’re gonna be engaged to the Crown Prince.”
She firmly shook her head unlike her usual mild attitude.
“No. That was wrong information. I won’t be engaged or married to the Crown Prince.”
“Hm…”
He had a strange expression.
Really? Then what about his father?
“So I would like it if you call me Elise, not sister-in-law. You can call me Lissy for short as well.”
He didn’t say no.
“Ok, Lissy.”
Elise. Lissy. Thinking that it was pretty to pronounce, he called her name. He even spoke informally to her. Well, since he was a prince and older than her. The next day, he gave something to her when she was studying.
“What’s this?”
“Taffy.”
“Taffy?”
“Yeah, in the East they have a tradition of giving taffy to people before they take a test. It’s to make sure to stick to the passing score, so make sure you pass.”
“Haha, thank you.”
Thinking back, she remembered that he had spent about a year in the East training. ‘He said it was training, but in reality it was more like he ran away from home. At such a young age. And it wasn’t just Qing, but the Black Continent as well. I heard the palace were flipped on their heels.’
Anyways, that was why he was used to customs from the East. ‘I used to eat taffy before I took a test in Korea too.’ Elise ate the taffy after expressing thanks. It was extremely sweet, just to her taste. Smiling as she ate, he suggested something unexpected to her.
“Sister-in-law, no, Lissy.”
“Yes?”
“Do you wanna drink this evening?”
“…?!”
“I happen to have good wine at the moment. I stole my father’s hidden wine. I was planning on savoring it by myself.”
His smile bloomed like a flower.
“But I suddenly want to drink with you.”
