Queen of The Scalpel - Chapter 82
“Lissy?”
The surprised 3rd Prince asked but she couldn’t answer. She felt like she would cry if she opened her mouth. She thought of what he said back then.
‘Sister-in-law, I actually have something to say to you.’
‘What is it?’
But he didn’t speak. He met his end with a relaxed expression like always. ‘What was he planning on telling me?’ She was curious, but she didn’t have anyone to ask anymore.
“…”
She shut her mouth, becoming quiet. She downed the wine left in her glass. Feeling the hotness move inside, she calmed down a bit.
“Sorry. It’s because I felt drunk. I’m okay now.”
He looked at her for a moment, as if he didn’t like something. He was about to pour the wine but he just downed his glass like it was a cheap alcohol. When Elise made a surprised expression at him, he spoke.
“Liar.”
“..!”
“Do you think I’m stupid? Why do you look so sad if you’re just a kid? Like you already lived life several times.”
Elise calmly shook her head.
“No. It’s because of the wine. Because I can’t drink well. Don’t worry about it.”
He pouted.
“You look cute but you’re not cute acting old. You’re like an old child. You’ll get sick if you keep it inside like that.”
Elise just smiled. The 3rd Prince sighed and asked.
“Is it because of my brother? He’s not nice?”
“…!”
She urgently shook her head.
“N-No. It has nothing to do with him.”
“Nothing? There’s no way he would treat you well. Since he’s never held a girl’s hand before or dated anyone. He’s probably the most boring guy in Londo. And your brother Ren is probably second.”
Elise laughed. It wasn’t wrong, but it was something that only the 3rd Prince would be able to say.
“What about coming over to me instead? I can treat you well.”
“It’s okay. I don’t want to be one of the many girls who long for you.”
Mikhail flinched at what she said.
“If we line up all the women who long for you, we can wrap them around the city twice.”
“T-That’s not true. I only do true love.”
“Sure, sure. Anyways, I decline.”
Mikhail put on a depressed expression and Elise laughed. What Mikhail said was right. Most women approached him first, and it wasn’t his fault he was good looking and charming. But the heavy mood loosened up. They talked about this and that, their faces becoming more red with the wine.
“So in the East!”
He was talking about his training overseas. Elise had heard this many times already, but she listened with interest again. His training was actually amazing. When he came back, he was called the greatest sword of the empire. And it was a nickname that the East gave him.
They thought they were at the center of the world, but they had given such an honorous name to a foreigner.
“So. In Qing, there are groups of bad people. The land is so big that the government can’t handle everything. But I…”
Mikhail spoke with a happy face, and Elise responded eagerly to everything he said. As the night became deeper, the 3rd Prince asked.
“Lissy, I have a question.”
“Yes Go ahead.”
He looked into Elise’s eyes and asked.
“Why are you trying to be a doctor?”
“…!”
It was a serious tone unlike the light mood.
“Why are you asking that?”
“No, just because I’m curious. There’s no reason why you have to become a doctor. It’s a good profession, but there’s other people who can do it. Is there a point in working hard to be a doctor?”
He wasn’t wrong. Even without her , there were countless doctors in the empire. Although they weren’t as skilled as her. From what she saw, they might not be able to understand. But…she asked in reply.
“Your Highness, can I ask a question?’
“Hm? Go ahead.”
“Why did you learn the sword?”
MIkhail closed his mouth.
“A royal family member like you doesn’t need to learn the sword.”
It was true. Most of the royal family only knew the basics. And now, guns and bombs were becoming more popular. Also, he didn’t need it. Because he had supernatural powers But he had still learned. And he had become the best at it.
“Because…I like it.”
Yeah, there was only one reason why. Because he liked it. No, he was addicted to it.
Elise smiled at his response.
“Me too.”
“…!”
“I like fixing people too.”
She thought of when she decided to become a doctor. She was addicted to the nervousness of the surgery room and saving people’s lives. She couldn’t live without her job.
And if she lost the bet…
“If I can’t be a doctor and help people.”
If that happened.
“I’ll feel like a bird locked up in a cage.”
So she needed to win. Like a bird that flew freely, she wanted to do what she wanted freely. Then she would be happy
