Queen, Please Let Me Die! - Chapter 35
“It’s alright.” Sous chuckled. “There’s no need to feel regretful. I’ll tell Gentle. Your sister is not bad. She’s very good-looking. She’s considered a beauty in our human world.”
“Sigh, what a pity. In our tribe, we value fat as beauty.” Mercy said regretfully, “There aren’t many beastmen in our tribe who want her. Many men think that she’s ugly and too skinny. She looks like a shelf. She’s not that pretty.”
“If these words were to be heard by the humans, the females would be very happy. It’s just that she has never been to the human world. Over there, your sister would be a great beauty. Her type is considered beautiful. She would have countless people chasing after her.”
As they spoke, the two of them smiled.
It was just a normal conversation.
Soon after, Mercy busied himself with the ritual under the scorching sun.
They were enjoying this, Sous saw.
The more this was the case, the faster he would die. He was already looking forward to it.
“Mr. Sous.” As soon as he was done, Gentle ran over and chased after Sous. The beastmen watching were stunned.
Gentle was Lord Benevolence’s elder sister. She had seen many things, and had a lot of experience.
…
While Sous was having fun, no one else was.
For example, Keribud. His injuries weren’t fully healed, but it didn’t bother him. He could come out for a walk, for no other reason than that he knew about the importance of the Ritual.
He understood this Ritual. It was here for this reason. Many of his people were the same. However, he was unlucky to have encountered the Engraved Beast. That was why he had come here to recuperate.
“It’s a real fight here.” Keribud walked out of the recovery area to where the Orcs were busy. Many people didn’t recognize him, but they knew he wasn’t a member of the tribe. However, they belonged to the same species and were not too wary of him. No one looked at him when he came to the place where the beastmen were doing preparations for the Ritual.
He was also happy to be free. Looking at the huge stone statue in front of him, it was the Guardian of the Skalan Forest.
The Orcs were building, cleaning up, cutting down trees, and clearing the area. A sorcerer was on the altar, pacing back and forth with a compass in his hand.
…
“That Keribud, are you all so assured that he would not make a mess of it?” Sous said to Mercy when he saw Keribud.
Gentle joined them. “He won’t. We know what he’s capable of. If he does, he won’t have it easy. He’s an adventurer, unless he doesn’t want to live anymore. If anyone finds out he’s sabotaged the Ritual, the rest of his Kingdom won’t treat him the same again. He’ll be completely shut out. He’ll starve to death and can only wander the world.”
The life of an adventurer depended on the Adventurer’s Association. If they were blacklisted by the Association, they would be sentenced to death. It was not easy to wander. They could die outside at any time. It was never easy to survive outside alone. Otherwise, everyone could just wander around. There was no need to be bound to the Adventurer’s Association.
“Alright.” Sous nodded. He was afraid that the other party would destroy the Ritual before him. What would he do then?
“Where is the Guardian of Skalan Forest?”
When Sous asked this question, Mercy was stunned. Gentle seemed to have thought of something and her expression suddenly became strange.
Mercy did not respond. So did Gentle. It was as if they had become completely different beings. Mercy and Gentle both ran away.
The siblings quickly went to find Benevolence.
“Have you found those outsiders yet?” Mercy glanced at Gentle.
When Sous spoke of Keribud, they didn’t think much of it or make any connections. Only when Sous mentioned the location of the Guardian, they came to the realization at the same time.
They had been searching for those outsiders for a while now. Where could they be?
Why couldn’t they find them?
It was impossible for them to have gone to the depths of Skalan Forest. They couldn’t go there. Demon Beasts lived there, and there were terrifying monsters everywhere. If they went there, they would definitely die. It was absolutely impossible for them to go deeper.
Then what other place had they not searched before?
The human world?
Impossible. It was impossible for the human world to allow the beastmen to enter. Furthermore, every country had a rule. With no recommendation letter or identification, no country would allow a group of strange beings to enter.
There was only one place that they could not find.
That was where the Guardian was.
The Guardian Beast had already fallen asleep. Even if someone went in, the Beast would not be able to do anything. That place was the most unimaginable place. Hiding there was simply foolproof.
They realized it at once when Sous asked.
They then hurried to Benevolence’s tent.
“Have you found that group of outsiders?” Benevolence asked on the spot. Those outsiders were not entirely made up of humans or Orcs. Why were they together?
They had even suspected that Keribud was with them, but he denied it. He had a status and a formal identity. They couldn’t do anything to him unless they found evidence that he was with them.
Keribud was a member of the Adventurers Association. The Skalan Tribe and the Adventurers Association were definitely not a match unless the Holy Land could help them. But was that possible?
Impossible.
“Sous suggested that Keribud might have been up to no good with regards to the Ritual. Then he asked where the Guardian might be. That’s the only place where we have not searched, because that’s the last place we could have thought about. Could they really be in there?” Gentle knew Sous wasn’t a bad person. At least he didn’t have much hostility toward the Orcs, or the Skalan Tribe.
Did he know something?
That made sense. He was from the Skalan Empire, and he knew a lot of things. They had become friends with him now. Maybe Sous knew something, which was why he was now informing them in a different way. Maybe he couldn’t say too much. After all, they were of different species, and still had to keep a distance. If he said too much, he would have his own issues..
They had no doubts about Sous at all. Sous was within their watch, and there were beastmen who noticed him every day. He was a human, and even if they did not actively track him down, the beastmen in the tribe would subconsciously notice him when they saw him. If there was anything wrong, it would reach their ears.
“I see.” Benevolence was lost in thought. If so, it would be troublesome. “Go and see. Call for help. Don’t make a big deal of it. You can’t let anyone know where the Guardian lives.”
They both nodded. They understood.
There were only a few people who knew where the Guardian Beast lived, just the three of them, and the other was the sorcerer.
If someone else was really hiding inside, this would mean something.
